I can see it now, TJ laying motionless at the bottom of the stairs of the Great Hall of Tandem Mansion………

Got overtaken on my fastest lap by one the TORQ “animals”. He overtook me on the last descent, I had to back off after 100yrds of trying to keep up as I was destined for a Hospital visit I was so beyond my limits……………..I doubt I could have kept up on my Quake.

Also full marks to the bloke that I let past at 0230 ish in the same place who treated me to a 6ft crossed up air before disappearring into the distance.

Great event, topped off with the alternator in the car shorting out the battery 150 miles from home! Many thanks to the very nice man from the AA for giving me a new battery and disconnectting the alternator so I could get home(just).

Dartmoor is excellent and I live on the South Downs, which when dry offer some fantastic MTB’ing.

Team Muddy@rse, look out for a black n gold Trek8500 HT ridden by someone in FOX or Troy Lee (all the toys but no idea) gear. Say hello as I do my one lap max attack sprint before burning out in a sorry hypothermic heap somewhere on the camp site.

I am also bringing the Imperial camping throne!

That back end looks a total mud trap, there are a few more photo’s on BM which show a tiny linkage behind the BB which is just asking to catch flints and such like. Big step backwards on the old Marin UK friendly designs if you ask me.

ALL OUT BROTHERS! I would say join BM but the bloody servers being changed so forums and comments are off line at the moment!

I wonder how long it’ll be before the STW secret police start visiting dissenters……………..

Been here 11 years, love it. Bits can be old people orientated, however there are some great pubs and the biking is good, a mix of open downland and excellent singletrack in Friston, though be prepared to SS in winter as the mud just eats transmissions.

Transport links are so so, the A27 at peak times is orrible and train service is OK.

The Slash looks interesting, if somewhat overkill. Living on the South Downs I feel that my Wolf Ridge is like bringing an M60 to a paintball game occasionally. :D

Open bleed screw a tiny amount and squeeze pistons all the way back into the caliper, if you are careful you shouldn’t need to bleed them afterwards.

I wish I’d known this before I had a full scale “mantrum” in a quiet village carpark in Dartmoor.

Contact the Dog Warden, give descriptions, the local DW (if its Eastbourne) is pretty keen on this sort of thing. Also dog clearly not under control and injury to person falls in realm of Dangerous Dogs Act.

In the course of my career I’ve bumped into HMRI a couple of times. First time they were tearing strips off senior BR management for not knowing what was going on after an accident and second time they were inspecting a foot xing where I was working and popped in to see what I was doing.

I very nearly finished my railway career when working in a control office when a Major Poyntz (“thats P-O-Y-N-T-Z young man”) from HMRI rang in to enquire about a reportable injury and I muted the phone, laughed at my colleague saying I’ve got a Major Points on the phone claiming to be from HMRI only to see the blood drain out of his face….”ohh no he’s real!”

    Close call.

You can do 20mile XC rides on it (but you will be last), and I have climbed some big hills with it. Give it some gravity assist and its fantastic, very fast. Mines about 43lb but its got some heavy Bomber 66’s on the front.

I nearly got shot at Chicksands, some very excitable rebellious colonials came rushing out of the guard house pointing M16’s at me. After it all calmed down and I’d changed my trousers it turned out I’d walked into the compound supplying the “secret” 1MW load through the wrong gate.

How we laughed over coffee afterwards!

I bet it’s been grim for the BHF boys and Girls, all day the tops of the Downs outside Eastbourne have been cloaked in cold, grey murky cloud!

Mrs Ming cooked a protein recharge for me tonight as I was a good boy and completed it!

It would have been burnt toast had I failed! :D

Not allowed, petrol and oil on train as stated above is a big no, no. You get in the the carrige of fuel on vehicles laws which is very tricky(according to Network Rail).

    I’m game……….

Getting off the 0100 train at winchester and starting there and then(no point in trying to sleep as I’ll be like a kid on christmas morning), no idea how long I’ll take but if I make it to Eastbourne I’ll be riding back to the 8 bells in Jevington for a pint or two!

I shall be on my gold and black Trek HT.

Yep dogs love it just as much as we do, Chewie (aka the Sith Hound) flies around single track and come the bomb holes in Friston pre leaps the entry so his stomach almost grazes the lip of the bombhole as he plunges in!

Metcheck have just gone from very soggy next week to mildly damp on the latest model…TYPICAL! Think I’ll wait till thursday before making tyre and mudguard choice.

Weather looking, ahem, decidely iffy. Metcheck long range (which does tend to be a bit enthusiastic) says for around 15mm of rain during the 24th with around 20-30mm of rain over the next week or so to make the trails interesting. Better take the Dry-X’s off then!

Yep, mate took great delight in spraying it on my leaking forearm in the car park near peaslake, after 30 secs or so I’m hobbling around the carpark waving my arms around like a demented person as I realise the stinging is horrendous and he had a big grin on his face!
