    I suspect that they are out there;

I hope to God that they never arrive. In our history it’s never turned out well when the advanced culture has arrived at the shores of the primitives.

Moaris, American Indians, Incas, Aborigines not many left are there…..

It’s also an Outside Context Problem (so says Iain Banks):

The usual example given to illustrate an Outside Context Problem was imagining you were a tribe on a largish, fertile island; you’d tamed the land, invented the wheel or writing or whatever, the neighbors were cooperative or enslaved but at any rate peaceful and you were busy raising temples to yourself with all the excess productive capacity you had, you were in a position of near-absolute power and control which your hallowed ancestors could hardly have dreamed of and the whole situation was just running along nicely like a canoe on wet grass… when suddenly this bristling lump of iron appears sailless and trailing steam in the bay and these guys carrying long funny-looking sticks come ashore and announce you’ve just been discovered, you’re all subjects of the Emperor now, he’s keen on presents called tax and these bright-eyed holy men would like a word with your priests.

Whatnobeer, how long did it take the NHS to spot you’d broken it?

Anything over 2-3 weeks and it’ll probably need a screw and graft according to what I’ve read and had happen to me.

From my experience you need to rest it completely whilst it’s in plaster and then again when it comes out. No carrying, lifting, opening jars, driving, riding in any way shape or form.

I broke mine in August 2011, was operated on in Dec 11 after it failed to heal due to them missing it initially in August before I went for more X-rays after trying to MTFU for 3 weeks thinking it was just a sprain doing carrying, riding and heavy lifting.

I and am only just riding again (albeit very very carefully). At a minimum I’d budget 12 weeks of no exercise on the bike.

Seriously, this is one bone you don’t want to rush healing due to it’s rubbish blood supply. If you can afford it, it might be worth going to see Brian Simpson for some magnetic field and laser treatments (not cheap but I think it made a difference.

Check out Sussex muddy@rse club as they do regular night rides around Friston, loads of trails buried inside, some more secret than others.

Mine was so bad I had pins and needles twisting their way up my arm, very scary. Dr said it was either lifting something oddly/bashed it, resting my arm in a different position or sleeping on it. Turns out I’d got a new van with a different arm rest, do lots of manual handling at work and yes I’d slept on it funny.

That after 20 years of working on the railway, that whoever runs the it hasn’t got a fooking clue about efficiency, morale and they keep clutching at the idea of a re-org every 5 years being the saviour of the railway.

I won’t bother with my observations on the political constants in life as it’ll just degenerate into another STW rant/argument :D

+1 for XR4’s. FR4 is pretty good too in the gloop and when it dries the FR3’s are fitted.

I think most South Downs riders would approve of every world cup DH track having one chalky, flinty, rooty, off camber corner, preferably kept wet so that it develops that thin green veneer of teflon algae.

I’m hoping it’s not but I fear this could be the end of Vale, too early to tell this season but any more results like that and the Italian media will be baying for his blood, especially with Nicky finishing several places in front of him.

Not a good sign that Vale got upset about his tussle with Hector, after all he practically made rubbing Sete and Max a monthly event.

Well done Cal and Dovi and a masterclass of patience from Lorenzo.

Go see the quack, longer you leave it the greater the chance of non union. I broke mine in August 2011 and I’ve only just ventured out on the bike (very carefully as it’s still easily upset).

Nothing of any interest in Friston at all, move along, these aren’t the trails you’re looking for.

3 KS posts in the Imperial household and only my 2 year old heavily used and abused one has gone back for repair under warranty.

Run a mudguard in winter, keep the stanchion clean & fork juiced, and regularly flush both ends of the cable assy with GT85 or similar to keep the remote action smooth.

Put about a pint of petrol on as yet unlit bonfire. Then went down the garden to get the stick with burning rag on the end of it and walked back towards bonfire, cue Backdraft, fire running along the ground moment and the bonfire lighting with a large woomph.

Failed to learn from that and a few months later disintegrated a huge pile of embers and ash with a small camping gas cylinder. The 20ft wide fireball that incinerated the apple tree was spectacular, not so spectacular was leaping fences to put out fires started in neighbours gardens by the now very well lit embers.

I have mainly been a good boy since then………

I’ve complained twice, initially you get fobbed off but if you get shouty enough (never swear but be very direct) at the right people (not nurses, management) then on both occasions I’ve been operated on about a week later.

In one case I was informed that I was the only person to be a non-urgent (I have to say after being cancelled 3 times I felt I was urgent) op that month in that unit.

In both cases after complaining to the management I rang and then wrote to the Chief Executive of the Hospital explaining my problems with their service.

On a positive side once they had worked out my scaphoid was not going to heal itself I was on the operating table 4 weeks later.

Last time was on a lightweight Alu Trek8500 hardtail, but managed to jar my neck so ibruprofen became my friend. If I’m fit enough my next attempt will be end of this June on a carbon full bouncer

Loads of info regarding cleaning of egr valves on various vauxhall/astra owners forums. There are even step by step photo how too’s as well. The DPF also needs regular caning to keep it clean, either that or get a bypass kit fitted and the DPF clean cycle turned off in the engine management.

Stupid badly designed emissions controls systems.

I murder my new boss several times a day, fortunately for him and me it’s still in my head. I’ve now watched so many episodes of Criminal Minds I feel should I actually “go Postal” it’ll be a long trail of corpses before they get me.

    Yes mother, I’m coming now…………..

Wot uwe-r said, teaching is fine but the paperwork and audit trail is horrendous. Most holidays Mrs Ming spends a good proportion of her time planning and leveling.

Yep , superboxes are the future, till the first one burns down and a quarter of the country is without a train service. Still it’s great winding up the cheery staff at Ashford IECC asking when they’ll be moving to Threebridges.
