Havens, AVOID. I’ve had so many problems with mine and the importer (“ohh we’ve not had that problem before”) I’d rather use Crank Brothers wheels.

    My long term review here

I just use the wheels in the dry now so last summer they got about a months use.

Currently fault find and maintain a heritage wavy line system for the nations largest people transporter keeping the traveling public as safe as you can with a piece of equipment no longer made (think trying to find Fuel Injection spares for a Austin Maestro or suspension parts for a Morris Ital) and the manufacture’s are attempting to wash their hands of.

Soon (in geological terms) be moving to doing the same with the new (for us, but now woefully out of date in the real world) digital system.

FAR too young for that, give her 18 months and she’ll be giving Chewie a run for his money…

Hmm, a family friend spent many years in Russia and Ukraine and came to the conclusion they were (in general) some of the rudest people going.

Though the story of how the Ukranian police dealt with the happy-go-lucky-peg-selling travelling-romany-types in Kiev would be a lesson our police should take on board!

Seriously DO NOT open up an injector pipe. Modern diesels run at 300+ Bar (4500psi approx). The Haynes for my old Ford 1.6 stated that anytime you disturb the high pressure side of the fuel system the pipes should be replaced.

It does sound like air in the system so check the filter seal and then find the priming pump or if not one fitted the carefully suck (using a siphon or hand pump if poss) the return pipe to the tank.

    Nope has to clash, badly.

Mismatch of groupset; XT/XTR, Hope front brake, shimano rear, saw rotor on the rear but not on the front, orange bars, green grips, red frame, 4 different colours of hose/cable. Rear wheel; purple rear hub, silver spokes, white rim. Front; silver rim, black spokes and hub. Oh and the saddle is green and black.

Couple of times today I’ve caught a whiff and wondered if the van had sprung a leak. Glad I’m not going mad, starting with imaginary smells.

Had it done twice, both times the relief as he cut into the infected area’s was immense. It did smell very bad though.

Mrs Ming once berated me for watching a documentary on the Falklands Conflict saying ” why are you watching this rubbish, we lost….”

It took a long time for me to prove to myself I had not accidentally fallen into the “Mirror, Mirror” universe after that statement.

They have made some fantastic bikes, had a 2005 Attack Trail (last with the TARA linkage), cracking bike. Got a 2009 Wolf Ridge frame after I ovalised the headstock of the AT as a FOC warranty replacement.

I also have a 2007 Quake, heavy, over engineered but feels indestructible and unstoppable once pointed downhill.

Depends on whats going in the boot, if it’s a dog and loads of muddy mtb gear then yes. If it’s an umbrella and the occasional suitcase then no.

That 1.6 engine is a nightmare, check that it has not developed an injector leak (for some reason usually injector 3 goes first, then the others) as that sludges the oil leading to filter blockage and then a dead turbo.

Fraud have a long winded maintenance instruction regarding turbo replacement, oil and filter changes (3 off) and turbo feed oil flow rate.

I work for “Rubbish Tractor Production Facility Number 1”, about 6 years ago I was sent on a course to France to learn about the new radio’s they were installing. This meant I had to pay the hotel bill (£300+) on my card and claim it back. So I put in the expenses and being the crap non profit making organization they are it takes 4 weeks to process.

After 4 weeks no expenses paid. I phone up to be told it’s due to the £6 a day old T’s & C’s (which I am entitled too) out of country living expenses I’d also put in for not being recognised by the system. So rather than just not pay me the £18 this amounted too they failed to pay the whole lot. No phone call or email to say there was a problem either. It took another 8 weeks to sort out. Did they pay my CC interest? *unts!

So for want of a nail……

My uncle is a driving instructor and over the last few years his work has almost completely dried up, going from a steady flow to fits and starts.

I had two mini’s, an old 850 and then a 998cc city that became a 1380cc death trap.

They RUST, badly, shell and rear sub-frames. Radius arm bearings, swivel hub ball joints and wheel bearings were the main mechanical’s I experienced.

Stuck to the road like glue but when they did break free it was normally a trip into the bank or bushes (3 spring to mind).

Water pumps and rear brake slave cylinders were also prone to failure. Parts were usually cheap but remember a mates 1100 had an unusual set of slave cylinders as standard and they were 3 times the cost of the ones on my 998.

Great fun to drive but maintenance intensive if driven hard.

Get one with disks, drums all round are a bit scary.

Have a set of the Sage’s on my quake, I actually managed to buckle the rear slightly hitting a granite culvert edge on Dartmoor at telephone numbers….

Other than that and a rear bearing they’ve been pretty good.
