    Top link does not work.

Taiwan news is one source AND I’ll admit that they don’t like the Chinese but they are a lot closer to the action than we are.

Utter nonsense and daily mailesque levels of scaremongering. Have a word with yourself. 😉

Really , you’d believe the Chinese state , the state that’s conservatively locked up in concentration camps 10’s if not 100’s of thousands of Uighers for being religiously different.  The state that hid a massive loss of life after a huge earthquake in the 1970’s.  I suggest you are the one that needs a word with yourself.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Basic infection control procedure would be to leave the people where they are; bad PR, good drills.

This, I’m really sorry but it is a a poorly understood virus at present.  You have to stay put.  Remember, humans fail, all the time.  Apparently the coach drivers for the repatriated were to go home and self quarantine for two weeks.  So one coach driver gets to 12 days and thinks I’m fine, I’ll go down the pub tonight for a few pints………

The opening chapters of The Stand cover this quite well.

I don’t believe for a minute the official Chinese figure of 5% mortality, figures of 20% are leaking out.

But its too late (as I stated earlier), its loose.

It’s loose everywhere, I really think its horse, door, stabled, bolted by now.  Better stock up on lemsip and decongestants.  With a 14 day incubation period how many carriers are going to to work, school, on the train, plane or bus?

Latest rumour mongering I see is that the Pangolin could be the carrier, if so its having the last laugh!

I’m going with the theory that its a man altered virus created by the CIA and released in China too wreck their economy but with usual SNAFU CIA planning they failed to see it would “escape” into the rest of the world.

Lots of trees down across the line at work last night and this morning (thankfully I’ve got a few days off now). At least 7 fence panels to replace though TBH I’m surprised they’ve lasted this long.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune nickc, KBO.

No snow here, just squally showers and gusty winds.

Well BBC predicted gust speeds are slowly increasing, started around 62mph last night but it is now up to 72mph.  If my night shift isn’t too busy and the house isn’t falling down I’ll try and get some photo’s of the sea at high tide tomorrow.

Because, quite clearly as you didn’t mention either, your sub-frame never imploded nor the battery compartment rusted through and fell out?

I too loved my Mini 1000 and my Mini Clubman 1275GT.

Ha ha, wrote it off crashing through someone’s garden before the rear subframe had a chance to rust and the battery box never rusted as I had a battery explode in it (don’t ask) which meant the battery acid leaked all over the battery box and cured/treated all the rust.

    It’s not a real Mini.

If it was a real Mini, I’d advise you check the ball joints, rear radius arms especially the near side.  CV joints as well.  The doors and sills for rust.  The tappets will need adjusting (they all do, don’t bother because after you’ve done it, it will sound just as bad).  Make sure the coolant has antifreeze and the water pump isn’t leaking.  Engine stay rubbers can fail/perish so make sure you cannot rock the engine.  Rear slave cylinders should be checked for leaks, they will at some point.

Avoid the 1100 model as it had very expensive rear slave cylinders compared to the 1000 or 1275.

Why did I love my Mini?😁

GRP flat roof here, the sea gulls walk on it but don’t bother pecking it like the Felt roof we had before.  Windy South Downs location.

Also saw this for the first time recently, suitable Chernobyl level bonkers:

That’ll be the “elephants foot”, made from corium.  Apparently to find out what it was they used a marksman to shot a chunk off (it was way to radioactive to go near) and a childs remote control toy with a scoop to retrieve the bits shot off as the proper robots could not survive the radiation!

As stated in the article, sorry should’ve read the link first, D’oh

Sorry for your loss Andy and Northwind.  My Father is looking increasing frail and am dreading the day he goes, it’s not helped that he lives 300 miles away so I only see him a few times a year.

The one on my Enduro went badly squtchy after a few months, sacked it off and got a DHX2 air which copes better (but still dies).

That’s because this forum has the worst functionality of any I use regularly.

I know of several forums ran by individuals that have crazy nonsense like push notifications, ignore, follow, new posts etc. I mean why would you want that when you can come here and pretend it’s 2003?

ahhh so that’s how it works

Trek press fit in my superbly was a nightmare, creaking and killing bearings (even after oversize bearing was fitted due to trek tolerance issues..  PF30 BB in my enduro has been crap as well, eating bearings no matter the if they were cheap steel or eye watering hybrid ceramic.  It’s now got a hellbender fitted so I’ll see if I can kill that.

I don’t think my ride in all conditions and fording streams habit helps, that and Sussex mud.

Our elderly neighbour expired last year, he was very clear in his will that his immediate family (brothers etc) wouldn’t get a penny (historic family fall out) and it went to his niece, god daughter, a few friends and then the RNLI and a Hospital Charity.

We helped with the house clearance and some of his immediate family turned up to “help”, as in look around for bits and pieces they wanted and got everybody to sort the old photos out for them.  As soon as they got what they wanted they buggered off and left the rest of us to finish the work so I can see why they weren’t included in the will.

How many people are at home with a bad case of the sniffles rather than kill you dead coronavirus?  This will screw up the currently published state confirmed infection v death stats.

    Pretty shite fatality rate.

Now if it was “Captain Tripps” I’d be bricking it (99.8% risk of catching, 100% fatality rate).  The opening book of The Stand is a horrific description of a superflu getting loose.

Reminds me of Chewie in his heyday, I nearly had some huge crashes chasing him into the Friston bomb holes marvelling air him prejumping the hole and skimming the lip as he dropped in and then realising I was carrying way too much speed/wrong position.
