Well that is good to know! I will have to check my policies! If I can keep multiple cars on the public road without an MOT, it would save me a quite a bit! :D

Not necessarily true, depends on policy.

Really? A quick Google comes up with this:

Without a current MOT, your car insurance would become invalid. Not having a valid MOT certificate is illegal under Section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and you run the risk of facing a £1,000 fine and a charge of six to eight penalty points on your licence by driving without one.

If it is on private property I can understand it being covered with your insurance policy.

I would say if you haven’t done this before or anything similar, then leave it. You can brick your phone by loading a new Bootloader and ROM, also it will invalidate your warranty.

I’m more interested in if you can get 1 bike in the RX8?

I prefer a roof rack as it’s not susceptible to being rear ended, although in a weedy car it can play havoc with your MPG.

That seems a bit overkill? Can you pull out your dropper a bit and clamp around that?

I much prefer driving, even in a 40 year old car with no air con and having to shout to hear each other.

Flying back can be a real killer, this is how it usually happens for us:
Get up super early (5/6am) for lift to the airport cos some idiot in your group decided to book a morning flight, despite hosts saying do not book early morning flights. Then you have 8+ hours to kill an Geneva airport, cos they is only one evening flight to your airport, then drive home, for us this works out longer than driving home.

Driving is fine if you can share it. I find myself more tired flying than driving. Driving also gives you more options, stay longer, go over to Italy, etc. You can take as many spares & tools as your car can hold! Very handy if you are not staying at a bike chalet.

We use a tag and usually leave Friday night, get the 12-1am chunnel then get to the Alps around Saturday lunch time. This gives you time to build the bikes, test them and chill ready for Sunday carnage!

Did you use the little red plastic thingy to setup the gears? That helped me get the shifting even more awesome’er.

THanks guys, so it would seem it will be possible, maybe with the wheel off! I will just have to remember to take my torque wrench with me. I’m going to look at one this weekend, I’m not sure the seller would appreciate me bringing my bike to see if it gets in the back.

Beaker – Can you get your Horsethief in without taking the seatpost out? I can’t remove my dropper post. I’m guessing it’s easily do-able with both wheels out.

Faster up and down on the Wreckoning than the HT on something like Afan. What surprised me is that I’m still faster on the 160mm FS bike at Ashton Court. The HT feels loads faster though, I would swear I smashed my strava times, then find I was a couple of seconds slower on that section. I think I need to re-test this.

I thought I would ask in this thread rather than start another one…

Looking at getting an older one series E8x 2006-2008. I have a full susser 29er, can you get one or two of these in the back with the seats down? Preferably with only the front wheels removed? I have to torque my rear axle.

A couple of years ago I settled on a Dewalt DCF899. It has a crazy amount of torque (950Nm/1600Nm Breakaway), I haven’t come across anything it can’t undo! It’s removed a fair few stubborn wheel nuts at track days, everyone has been impressed with it.

It has 4 torque settings, you can set it at it’s lowest, which is really low, put on the wheel nuts and torque them correctly. This thing has saved me loads of time and removed a few stubborn exhaust bolts with ease.

There are two types of liquid. VG produces a lot of smoke, PG doesn’t produce a lot. I found PG hurt my throat and swapped to VG, I do feel like a complete cock at times using it. You get used to being a cock tho, just like everyone else on this forum.

My first reaction was: “Jeeeez, its like a **** steam train!”

I don’t know about you guys, but the reliability of inkjets has come on a bit since 10 years ago. I’m not sure about the running costs of laserjets being cheap either, but I haven’t looked for 10+ years. Show me where you can get a colour laser for £50-70 with refills being £20-£30 and I’ll buy one.

I bought a HP Envy for my mother and it is really good! Ink’s don’t dry out and are relatively cheap, Airprints, scans, etc. I have been tempted to buy one myself, but I think I only really need to print things about once a year.

Do it! You won’t regret it, unless something goes wrong with the car en-route! I have no idea what 207’s are like, but to put in perspective last time we used a 40+ year old car and 4 days before the engine wasn’t in the car and we didn’t have an MOT. The car made it, starter motor bolts disappeared and handbrake disappeared so the return journey was done canonball style. I have to say due to the problems, the car and the weather it was the best roadtrip we have done.

Get a toll tag for the tolls, saves a lot of time and means the passenger/co-pilot/2nd driver doesn’t need to woken up for every toll booth.

I’ve done the Ferry once and never again, you’ll be lucky to get one seat. I would much rather be sat in the car sleeping! If you do the Ferry a cabin is a must for some sleep.

Damn expensive for what they are (before the price increase) and no bluetooth, so can’t stream Spotify free. No way I’d pay £10 per month just so I can stream it around the house, especially when the SQ of Sonos is not that great.

Considering you have to pay for the cardboard box they deliver it in and pay for delivery I would think you definitely have to pay to send it back. When everything else breaks and you have to send back your forks, shock, wheels, etc, there is no charge for carriage, you’ll just be without a bike for a couple of months. Bitter? yup.

X01 Cassette is Black
XX1 Cassette is Gold with black 50T cog

I’ve been Eagle since mid August, did 3 weeks in Whistler with it and it worked fine on everything. Shifting is better than my X9 10 speed, once you have it dialled in, but I still prefer XTR 9sp. The black is starting to wear off the 50T cog.

The app THX Optimizer is pretty good at dialling in your colour/contrast/tint/brightness settings. It’s free BTW and also on all THZ DVD’s & BluRays. Definitely turn off dynamic crap, cinema black, noise removal and motion crap.

TV PQ is a personal preference, some people like the over it sharpened with unrealistic colours, others prefer softer looking with a warm tone.

I would definitely be looking more at the settings than the TV specs.

I have a 1/8th Hyper 8.5 Pro Buggy, running a .28 Go Engine with Savox servo’s and a 3PK tranny. This thing is fast and near uncontrollable, until I tweaked the accelerator and steering settings. I actually have 2 settings, one for me where I have 100% throttle and fast steering and another that is 60% throttle with slow steering, for those friends that say “can I have a go”. I did that once and my NTC3+ touring RC hit a kerb sideways at about 35mph, which has bent the chassis. Lesson learned!

The Hyper is sat on a shelf gathering dust. I keep meaning to use it, but then remember tuning it is an arse and by the time I’ve tuned it I’ve run out of fuel! Luckily you could just add more fuel and carry on. I would need a shit load of batteries to get the run time of my Nitro

When I did use it, I was able to use it in a friends field, I built a few jumps for it. Luckily there an track running parallel with the train tracks, that has a 2 lines and a few jumps. There is an abandoned BMX track (Keynsham) nearby that RC’ers would also use.

I also used to have a RC drifter, I had about 8 batteries and a 12V charger. When it was an evening of drifting, I would hook up the charger to the car so I could get more run time.

You really just need to research your local area and maybe checkout some RC forums for where people use their RC’s. MSUK was always popular.

I would say £100-£200 per month? But it depends on how much you get taxed on it and how much it is worth to you.

I can highly recommend Shack Wrap. They’ve done a couple of bikes for me, can also supply coloured decals, etc.

Don’t get a Citreon van, we have a Relay here at work and it is truly the worst van in the world ever. Seats are horrible, it is like sitting at a dining room table and pushing your feet onto the floor to use the pedals. The steering wheel is near flat with the ground, it really does remind me of a bus driver. For some reason it feels really big, even though it isn’t. 2nd hand value of these POS’s is near nothing, if reselling is of interest.

We previously had a Transit and it was so much better, driving position, etc. VW’s hold their value quite well, so I would consider one of those too, but the new Transits look really nice.

Or get an old transit and put that engine in your ‘other car’ on PH in it.

Upload the STL, select material and then it will show you a list of places locally that can print it.

Just buy a 3D printer and get on with it.

The technology is here already, but I don’t think there is the software for it. You can add turn by turn directions to GPS for Garmin/etc and this will beep and display “turn left in x metres”.

Luckily there are a lot of off-road GPS tracks that are very accurate on TrailForks (PinkBike), but would need turn by turn directions added and for you to write an app to convert them into words.

The problem is poor GPS signal, comparing my Garmin to my iPhone, the Garmin has a lot stronger signal. If I run them side by side the iPhone can have me getting to bottom 30 seconds quicker as the signal isn’t anywhere near as accurate.

For it to be accurate it is going to be a niche market, as they will need a decent Bluetooth/WiFi GPS and take the time to add turn directions.

I’ve had this with iPhones and GoPro’s. It usually happens when there are extreme temperature changes over a short time (15 mins or so). Most recent time 3 iPhones died after a couple of photos, and both GoPro’s died. Everything was fully charged before.

I know it’s not a mk1 or a Mexico, but it is a mk2 RS2000. Had some proper good drives in it, it is my friends, we take it to the Alps and it is more comfortable than a little van.

The best drive was driving back of Bourg Saint Maurice without a starter motor and handbrake. We cannonball’ed it back to Bristol in 11 or 12 hours… We expected problems as we only put the engine in 3 days before leaving, the starter motor is one part we thought would be ok. I heard a pinging noise, like a bolt hitting the road and said “Well… it can’t be that important we are still driving!” Turned out it was the bolts holding the starter motor body together.

I’ll go with Malware for the moment.

What do we do about that then?
If it’s malware, I would probably download a bootable virus/malware checker and let that run. Sometimes I find it quicker to just re-install the system than spending hours trying to find the problem, some malware can be long-winded to remove.

Various things, what are you looking for?

At this point, I would probably do what you are doing and ask for the laptop, there are too many services and processes to check which a glance can quickly see if there are any abnormal things running.

Still interested in the solution though!

Did sfc /scannow fix a corrupt dll?

interested if there is possibly a cheaper/better alternative?

Yup there are a lot of options these days. Samsung, Bose, Chromecast and many more..

I use a very cheap option, less than £50 per room.
I use Pi’s with PiCorePlayer (free), a NAS with LMS and the stereo’s I currently have, along with a HiFiBerry for decent quality where I’m not using HDMI. The players have Airplay, Bluetooth and sync’d aka Multiroom across the house. I use the iPeng app, as above it doesn’t use the phone, it makes a direct connection between NAS and Pi. The one downside is I have to manually turn on the stereo’s.

As far as I know if you want to play Spotify on Sonos or any other WiFi audio player, you will need a premium account.

Definately not a small. My friend who is 5’9″ has a medium and it is too small for him. I’m 5’8″ and medium suits me ok, but I prefer did prefer very small frames. I would definitely try one first, if you have ape like arms a Large might suit you better.

I would never ever buy a YT though! The only thing that hasn’t been replaced on my friends bike is the frame, but that has an oval headset cup that the bearings rattle in, they said is normal. 2 Months for replacing each parts is pretty poor (shock x2, forks x2, BB, Seatpost x2, Wheels).. That’s over 6 months his bike has been in bits on the floor awaiting replacement parts. There are a lot of people who have not had a single problem, I’m sure they will mention it after this post.

It is a good bike though, when it works.

I have a Snugg messenger bag, much better than the Crumpler I had. It has loads of compartments and a separate one for the laptop, easily store your chunky headphones, an A4 pad and loads of other crap.
