I will add 100gb of footage to the NAS over the network, or stream a 20-40gb video to a TV from the NAS, but that only works out at 6mbps when streaming. Even though I don’t think I’ll get near the 1gbs I certainly notice a slowdown when everyone is using the LAN. Maybe I need to get rid of the Netgear ProSafe Switch?

Whatever the amount of Network sockets you think you need add a couple on! I thought 4 would be enough, 2 years later we need a minimum of 6 in the living room. CT100 for the TV’s, install a decent splitter/amp so it can distrubute the signal from the main TV or aerial to all other TV’s, handy for parties and things.

Trail Rat, streaming HD movies to Apple TV is fine, but see what happens when you have 2 people streaming movies another streaming music and another surfing the internet. You’ll find you’ve maxed the Wi-Fi and everything starts to fall over. Also no setting up required for wired, quicker and less faff’age.

You need to work out the bandwidth for each device, so you can work out how many cables you really need. I doubt all 12 network cables are going to running at max all the time, you may get a way with half as many and add a switch in the living room.

    Markie,
For speaker cables, my dad had what looked like drain pipes installed in the walls, so he could upgrade the speaker cables in the walls by pulling the new cable through, it was very easy.

Not sure what I’m doing Christmas day!

So it’ll be Pheasant if at home as my housemate is a Pheasant/Partridge/Turkey/Chicken farmer. Neither of us like Turkey but his Turkeys are soo much nicer than anything in the shops.

I would always use my Garmin, a year on and I usually forget it! I used it the other week and was dissapointed, it felt as though I did my fastest ever time on a section. I found out after I was 5 seconds off my fastest, this instantly brought me back down to earth.

This is why I don’t use it that often, I don’t need to know if it was my fastest time, I just like to feel it was the fastest, this makes me want to go out again.

Very High Maintenance! You need to learn a lot about tuning, LSN, HSN, Idle… Get the tune in, then tomorrow you need to re-tune as the pressure/air temp isn’t the same. But this all part of the fun for Nitro, tuning, fiddling, fitting a new clutch, playing with the oil weights, etc.

Bloody hell are they good fun though!

Another vote for them being expensive, I have a Hyper 8.5 pro and I think I spent nearly £1k by the end of the summer a few years back.

I wonder if it’s the same Imaginate series released before the final film. Worth a watch if you haven’t seen the 4 part series on YouTube.

SAD lights do work. We have them in a few rooms at home, they get turned off late evening otherwise I’m still wide awake when its bedtime.

For the office, get some SAD fluorescent tubes, they work very well!

Nothing beats getting out though.

No 4G around here… 3G would be nice, why don’t they sort that first!?

    Objectives are:
    * frame 6-7 inches of travel (may be 7.5) – Genius LT 7.3″
    * ideally I need 2 setups: lighter and steeper for AM and heavier and slacker for DH Genius LT 140mm or 180mm modes
    * total weight of bike at most 16.5kg with coil fork and shock
    * total weight of bike at most 15.2kg with air shock and fork and intermediate tyres (2.35 single ply) – Genuis LT 14kg
    * long wheel base
    * nice head tube angle for descents – Genius LT
    * nice seat tube angle which will not destroy pedalling

It may be worth trying a Genius LT. I use one for everything from XC to proper DH runs (Pila, etc). Has 2 Step too, 140mm(front)/110mm(rear) and 180mm/185mm.

I guess its about as safe as using spacers and longer bolts on cars… They don’t do it on track cars, they use special spacers as the bolts can snap.

That video is a lazy mans version. This photo shows how to do it properly.

Due to there being only a few tea lights, you need to leave it a couple of hours before it gets warm. I have yet to find a place where I can buy 3 different sized terracotta pots!

Yea I do warm up. Stick the heaters on in the car! I swear they got the idea for the WKD advert from me!

After cycling for 5-10 mins I then stretch a little.

Rule 1: Don’t do anything your not comfortable with.
I’ve forgotten Jedi’s checklist, but it’s very similar.

I live by this rule and still surprise myself at what I have done. The drops are getting bigger and the jumps too. I only realise this once I go through the footage afterwards.

If you aren’t comfortable with it, you’re probably gonna crash.

Store vertically, do not put anything on top of them. Ideally you don’t want the place to be hotter than 21°C and 60% humidity.. Apparently.

I use these to store some records in., that don’t fit in my deck stand.

I would probably wrap them in clingfilm to keep the dust away. Personally I would not store them in a loft, they are to be kept with the decks. Put yer foot down.

    New MOT Law says:
Where HID or LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted the tester will switch on the headlamps and check the operation of any headlamp levelling and cleaning devices fitted.

The car will fail if a headlamp levelling or cleaning device is inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.

If you haven’t got it, it can’t be checked… So does this mean you can have HID’s without self levelling and cleaning? Not sure.

Well we all know how long loading tapes used to take… Freakin ages for a 40kb load.

I call this bollox as the high frequencies would not be picked up by a standard mobo soundcard without you hearing it. If they can get the audio frequencies near the computer I expect they can physically infect it.

The actual camera is the same size, it is the waterproof housing that is smaller/thinner. The batteries are the same physical size, but I haven’t tried a 3+ battery in the 3.

Trout, I have no idea what I did, but I soldered a white wire back on (one on far right in your photo), and now I have 4 modes. No off mode now and a lot brighter.. Not sure how this happened.

Left hand lane to go straight, as then you do not have to change/filter across lanes and cut up the **** in the left hand lane.

Wrapping your manifold will void it’s warranty. You cannot see any cracks, and the wrap will hold moisture making your manifold rust quicker. As for performance gains I would imagine it’s not much.

I’m sure there is a ceramic paint you can spray on, which should be better. I’ll be doing this to the track day car when we get the 4-2-1 manifold, but this will be to keep engine temps down, not for performance gains.

…not sure I’d want people hitting it at 30mph

In that case keep it as it is. As above add a sign.

Stealth M4’s are the same as the non stealth. I think it’s only the colour that is different, but I could be wrong.

Go with M4 front n rear, saves carrying two sets of different pads. Personally I would go with the M4 Race, lighter, looks nicer and more powerful.

Great grip with low pressures (23/25’ish psi) but definitely feel draggy, compared to HR’s. Pumped up they seem to roll very well.

I would go for Hertz, Sensitivity is a lot better. I would also budget for a £100 Alpine Active Sub, it is very good, almost too good to be true!

Not impressed with Windows 8 on this new laptop.. It took over 5 hours to install 78 updates! 8O It then took 2 hours to configure them! 8O

    Now downloading 8.1

I’ve fixed my light. One of the white wires had come off. So I reconnected/soldered it…

Now I have a light that does not turn off, has 4 modes and is brighter than the normal one (mode 4 = mode 3)? Will it explode!? What have I done!?

PP CS6 here. Easy to use, does everything on the fly, no need to wait to see results of effects and things.

Decent and free? I don’t think there is such a thing. A quick google suggest Lightworks & Avidemux.

Someone has dumped a new laptop with windows 8 on my desk and told me to “do your thang”.. At the moment, it’s not even downloading updates! Do you need to sign in to a Microshit account?

I bought mine through fleabay. It worked one time then stopped working. I am happy to report they sent me out a complete new light (inc battery/charger/etc) for free and I get to keep the broken one! Now how to take the light apart… Are they Torx?

You don’t need a whole day with an instructor. At CC you can buy a trackday, using your own car and get an instructor to sit in with you for a few laps at no extra cost. Dave from touring car was there as an instructor. Then all you need to do is practice what they have told you.

What the instructor told me, sticks with me today, a year later. Just like when you go see Jedi.

That looks very good. The instructors are friendly, very good and have a sense of humour. You’ll have a great day. Very jealous!
