Whatever you get make sure to keep it completely original with original parts and do not fit aftermarket stuff even if they are better. It will be worth more in original form in years to come.
MilkieFree MemberThe Puma is known for rust on the arches, but it’s also quite easy to fix. I don’t think they are known for rust elsewhere, unless I seem to have an absolutely amazing 100k one that I got for free 8O
MilkieFree MemberI think the Ford Puma will be a future classic, not that many were made and loads are being scrapped. Lovely little car, quite powerful, great handling and relatively easy to work on. Most of the bits are compatible with a Fiesta so parts are easily obtained.
You can pick them up pretty cheap too (£200 – £1k).I actually have one of these as a track car.
MilkieFree MemberI would only get a SSD if you have another normal drive. Follow this guide to get the most out of your SSD and make it last longer.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds
MilkieFree MemberI see no ones really mentioned the importance of Hard Drives. You really want 3 or 4 as a minimum; but RAID would be much better but not a cheap RAID thing on a motherboard.
1x – OS/Programs – SSD (150gb+)
1x – Raw Footage/Project (1tb+)
1x – Scratch Disc (1tb+)It makes a very big difference having separate drives. Coupled with an i7, 16gb RAM, CUDA Core GPU & Premiere Pro CUDA hack and you will never have to wait to render things, it will do it all on the fly.
As for software I watched Gadget Show the other day and Adobe Premiere Elements came out top. Adobe Premiere is very good and there are loads of tutorials on Youtube.
MilkieFree MemberI thought it might be a wind up, but it isn’t. So many good tunes came from Frankie, he will be remembered by the House Massiv.
Going to have a House mix this evening in memory of the man.
MilkieFree MemberVery cute, but he won’t be your trail partner until his bones have developed which is at least 1 year, even gentle runs can cause problems. But when they are old enough, it is awesome.
MilkieFree MemberStumpy I think I would’ve been whiter than the guy loosing loads of blood too!
A fews ago my boss dropped a circular knife on his foot. Sliced through his leather shoe and into his foot, it was only the bone that stopped the blade. I bandaged him up, chucked him in the car and took him to hospital, quite a lot of blood!
15 stitches in total and was lucky not to hit any nerves. He was back to work the following day, despite being told to rest. He nearly severed his thumb off about 5 years ago.
MilkieFree MemberI would imagine there wouldn’t be any mess. The chainsaw wasn’t running and had the safety guard over the blade.
Just be glad it wasn’t this guy..
MilkieFree MemberClassic Mini – Fun to drive, can do all the maintenance yourself, cheap to maintain and modify. It’s 1.3/1.4m wide, although I’m not sure if that includes the wing mirrors.
MilkieFree MemberI’ve used it for the shower head, it didn’t fit the holder, it does now. Put some on iPhone cables so they don’t break. I’ve also heard of people using it to do some emergency car repairs, but requires 24 hours to cure if it’s going to get hot.
In practice it’s good, as long as you can make it look good!
MilkieFree MemberAnother vote for the Bosch Rotak range. I’ve had one for a year, used it two weeks ago to cut 1ft long wet lumpy field grass and it didn’t blow up or burn out!
MilkieFree MemberI have the 2012 Genius LT here:
There is a big difference from mine to the new 650b ones. The lockout/traction/descent modes are great, but you do have to use to get the most out of the bike, yes pivot systems make a big difference to the suspension. It took me a few weeks to get used to all the levers (LH & RH Shifter/Reverb/Traction Lever), but now its second nature.I have had it 2 years, its been on holiday in the Alps twice, given a good hammering in the summers and ridden through winter. The bearings are still fine, silky smooth. I’m impressed with the Genius LT, the best thing is the geometry change when selecting the different modes and dropping the front to 140mm, really does feel like 2 bikes.
The only let down has been the Equaliser 3 shock which sometimes leaks oil into the air chamber leaving you with less travel (altho they fix it with a uprated seal to fix). This has been fixed on the new bikes (650b) as they no longer use that shock.
If I was looking for a new bike I would test ride the Genius & Bronson C, but don’t rule anything out, test ride as many as you can.
MilkieFree MemberSpace for weekend bags and you say Elise?
Whatever you decide on it will be worth more if it is totally standard with original parts. Old BMW’s 325, etc are appreciating quite well.
MilkieFree MemberReverb.. Never touched it and still working after nearly 2 years. I bet it now breaks!
MilkieFree MemberOld one is tweakable, the new one is not. The new one has a lot more features, I would probably go for the newer model as you can use the app to record and things. It also has YouView which makes it a lot easier to find things that have already been on.
MilkieFree MemberHumax, as above HDR-Fox T2, custom firmware, login via a webpage from anywhere in the world and tell it to record. You can even download from the Humax to a USB stick to watch elsewhere, also has a DLNA server built in so you can watch from anywhere in the world too.
It does not act as a DLNA client and the iPlayer wasn’t very good, but for £25-£30 you could get a Chromecast for those duties. I will say they do not support the HDR-Fox T2 anymore so there will be no updates for extra things like ITV player etc.
Wish I hadn’t got rid of the Humax, they have the best user interface and programming out of all the PVR’s.
MilkieFree MemberSomehow it does 20fps where the 5S can do 10fps standard. Damn that is fast what would you need 20fps for! I like the video at 4K, 24fps, might come in handy if its decent quality.
DezB, try Echograph for that sort of thing.
MilkieFree MemberYou won’t be able to drive a German rental car around the ring. They have GPS and have spotters at the ring.
All club together buy a Ford Puma for £500 and take it to the ring! It will be an amazing weekend, might end up being expensive, but still amazing.
MilkieFree MemberBeen tempted by the 944 S2 a few times now! Quite cheap, but I expect parts could be expensive. Currently looking to buy either a mk2 Escort estate or a mk3 Cortina :-)
So are parts expensive for the 944’s?
MilkieFree MemberRight with the F8000… Once Voice Recognition is turned on in the settings you can say…
“Hi TV”….wait then..
“Turn to channcel 8”
“volume up”No pressing of any button is required.
MilkieFree MemberI just found a Cessna over the UK from Genoa, Italy… They must be mad!
MilkieFree MemberMrOvershoot & Drac
You do not have to press the voice button to activate or confirm, although it is quicker.
You say “Hi TV… Turn to channel 8” then wait a few seconds and it will do it. This works in a quiet room, but not when other people are talking. I will try this evening to make sure and post my result.
You just have to make sure you have voice control activated in the settings. If it isn’t then you have to press the button to activate it.
The Smart View is very useful, watching one channel on your smart phone while someone is watching some crap on the TV. More so now CatchUp TV doesn’t have all the channels.
MilkieFree MemberIn a previous house I used that really shit stuff with moss remover (evergreen), which is missing the N off the front! Nearly wiped out the whole lawn, really should’ve looked to see if the lawn was grass, it wasn’t, it was pretty much just moss. Maybe yours is similar?
I’ll be attempting to cut the 2ft long yellow and green grass this weekend.
MilkieFree MemberYup it did. It was averaging around 32-34w, the ReadyNAS was 34w . I have now added another drive, an extra 4gb of ram and a decent Asus soundcard for recording the 1’s n 2’s.
As Mr Blobbby has said, we aren’t talking a lot of money here, you are porbably looking at a couple of quid a year!
MilkieFree MemberIf using chest mount, mount it upside down like this..
In the GoPro Camera options you can change the picture so it will be the right way up when recording.MilkieFree MemberIsn’t there one of these threads a month now?
Synology or QNAP if you are not puter literate. £200+
HP Microserver if you are. £130+ (+£30 MS Home Server 2011)My HP Microserver uses less power than my ReadyNAS and the HP is a hell of a lot more powerful and that is with 3x drives in the HP vs 1 in the ReadyNAS.
MilkieFree MemberHmmm. So could it be when the oil has turned to mayo it does this? They are notorious for poor breathing, a good long journey turns it all back to black.
MilkieFree MemberMine did that the other day (1.6 8v too), like you say 30 seconds later and it was fine. I swear these cars are pretty bullet proof. I managed to do 200 miles with little to no oil, no oil when I got home. I did wonder why it was doing 16mpg!
It needs fair bit of work this year, cambelt, clutch, exhaust, runs lumpy, not smooth through rev range and that’s the bit’s I know about. But I can’t complain I’ve been driving it for 6-7 years and I think the only thing that was needed was a new pollen filter and 1 or 2 oil changes!
Ignore the noise, turn up the stereo.
MilkieFree MemberMrOverShoot – Voice control is very easy to use, change channels, volume up/down, even turning the TV on. You say “Hi TV, volume up” etc.. I think it would work very well for an MS sufferer.
MilkieFree MemberF8000 here too 55″ version, absolutely awesome tellys! Could not believe the picture quality, previous telly was a CRT. Loads of apps if you like that sort of thing, the voice activation is a gimmick and the camera/kinect style thing.
The F8000 came 2nd in What HiFi, 1st place was the Bowers & Wilkins £10,000 TV.
Definately would buy one again.
Are these services likely to be added, or are you stuck with what’s in the box when you buy it?
Don’t rely on any manufacture to add services to a product that has already been released. It may happen, but doubtful.
MilkieFree MemberAt home I usually just stick it on random/shuffle and it is a completely random shuffle unlike some. It took me days to go through all my music, ripping FLACs and MP3’s, setting the ID tags, albums/artist/artwork/genre… worth it tho!
Spotify free at work to find new songs/albums then buy them when they are cheap. Radio is totally rubbish in the daytime.
Friends rave about the Google Music thing.
MilkieFree MemberFast n Loud – Gas Monkey Garage
If you’re still not convinced, watch the episode where they take a crash damaged F40 and turn into an F40 that as even better than original.
I prefer Fast n Loud over Wheeler Dealers and that other one with that bald old London geezer who just moans the whole time.
MilkieFree MemberIf you like Sonos (multi-room sync’d music) then there is a cheaper alternative..
3x Raspberry Pi’s – £30 ea (+£20 ea for HQ DAC)
piCorePlayer – Free
HP Microserver – £120
iPeng 7 App – £5.99They connect to your current audio equipment which means you can buy whatever you want. I’ve been running this for a couple of months and it works just as well as Sonos.
MilkieFree MemberHope’s new T-Rex 40t sprocket should be on sale within the next couple of weeks
You are talking about Hope aren’t you? Did you mean years?
MilkieFree MemberVet fees for your dog being attacked should be covered by your insurance. One of the many reasons to have insurance. I would phone your local dog warden to report it and make sure the dog hasn’t done something like this before.
MilkieFree MemberIf you go to Gamefairs you’ll often see vans like this:
Doors open, locked in shade.Personally I wouldn’t even contemplate leaving a dog in a car/van without supervision, too many things could go wrong.
