Haha, All you guys have listed the reason we’re going back to Pila!
Dusty trails, 12km descent, fast n flowy, nice jumps n drops. La Thuile is good, but Pila is where my heart is.

Would love a recommendation of somewhere to stay, for English non foreign speaking fools. Even better if you can tell me about the car park, as this will decide whether we break our bodies driving the Escort RS or a comfy easy drive in the van.

I’m no Einstein but I think you would need to know a few more details such as material of bucket & thickness, bucket dimensions to work out surface area or something and more.

Flats, foot/pedal position changes depending what I’m going over/doing.

With flats I have the ability to crash and run on my feet, most of my crashes would’ve been worse if I couldn’t instantly disconnect from the pedals and start running down a hill trying to grab every tree I passed.

I’m just going to list all the animals I have had over the years, I think there are some comedy names here:

    Brambles, Liberty, Rhubarb
    DJ, Scaramanga
    Cecil, Cedrick
    Lightening
    Roger, Ralph
    Chaos, Bedlam, Mayhem
    Twizzle, Thunder, Shadow, Storm
    Cloud, Rain

…Just realised this thread is dog names..
Only two are dog names, but you probably can’t guess what animals they are, especially Cecil & Cedrick

We are with Ricoh and they are absolutely rubbish, I would never ever recommend them ever ever. We bought a printer from them and they did not reset the copies, so then tried to bill us £12k for the copies of the previous company! Roll on 12 months they tried it again and would not return calls. Somehow we are still with them despite them being very poor on the communication side

I used a Polaris Bike Box once, to fly to the Alps. It felt really sturdy and nothing could damage it.

For how big they are I only just managed to get my small framed hardtail in. When I returned there were creases in the plastic where it had been chucked about and a rip near a hinge. It wouldn’t have survived again, they also weight 8-9kg for a box!

Used an EVOC bike bag the following year as there was no way I would get a FS in the Polaris Box, mainly due to the width of the bike. EVOC bag offered more protection and I could fit more stuff in it.

A few companies now rent out the EVOC bag, might be an option for you.

30p in electricity for a year… It would cost me more in food/energy to turn the plug on and off everyday. 8O

    1 Week – Alps

Turning air con off in my car is like hitting the turbo boost button! It also reduces my mpg down to 25mpg from 30mpg as it takes a lot of power out of my 80bhp monster.

Raspberry Pi Internet Magazine, some great tutorials and idea’s.

My first project was to build a temperature & humidty sensor/logger for logging incubator temp/hum.

    AdaFruit Site – Raspberry Pi
This site has some great tutorials and stuff to buy.

Currently building a robot with a camera and ultrasonics.. This was a project for over Christmas, but all my spare time has already been filled. Eventually it will be put inside the Bigtrak along with the Pi controlled robotic arm[/url].

Another project I want to get started on is a controller for LED strips, pretty sure there will be something already built that can be modified.

I hate Mince Pies, so much so next year I’m playing a trick on my mince pie loving friends. I’m going to make mince pies with minced meat and tell them the truth that they are mince pies!

Does anyone have any Mince Pie Alternative Recipes!?

Forexpipz, you should be able to just drag n drop a GoPro video file straight into Premiere. You shouldn’t need to do anything to get into Premiere.

I enjoyed that video with the commentary/sound, not often you get commentary! I would imagine this is what some of my friends would be saying to themselves if I took them.

34 is still young, I’m turning 34 soon, still young and still learning new things!! :D

Some of my videos, but no idea how this rationalises peoples comments/opinions Warning: There is probably the use of “gnarly” and definately “Epic” so if you are an easily offended STW’er (thats everyone).. Don’t watch.

Mr Beams do motion controlled night lighting that is “Wireless” AKA battery powered and the batteries do last a long time.

I would probably go the route of a few RGB 5050 SMD strips with controller (Raspberry Pi), motion and light activated. Depends if you want a DIY solution or complete. I would go for RGB so you can set it to Red at night.

The LED strips I have seen on the likes of eBay will turn on to a set brightness and set display (flashing/fading) and you cannot modify this default setting. You can change it with the remote when its on, but defaults back once you turn it off.

    IP Camera’s
PiCorePlayers (SONOS Alternative), Music in nearly every room
    Living Room Amplifier
    TV’s
    Kettle
    Lighting (Philips Hue)
Server (HP Microserver), DLNA, uTorrent, Webserver, LMS, DVR, DNS, Print, Etc
    AppleTV
    ChromeCasts

Cat6 in every room, we thought 2x sockets in each would be enough, it is no where near enough. In the living room we have 8x LAN devices, it soon adds up over the years! Seperate Wireless upstairs and downstairs and 5Ghz WiFi.

Next step is controlling the heating and more lights around the house. I’m also in the process of making a robot which will be controllable over Interwebz (Camera & Ultrasonics) and will run around the house when no ones home and probably annoy anyone that is home.

I’ve used the ChromeCast, AppleTV, XBMC, PS3/4, NowTV and the Samsung Smart TV.

In order of best to worst
    1. Samsung Smart TV – Intuitive, quick n easy access
    2. AppleTV – I have iOS, you can airplay video/music
    3. PS3/4 – If you have one why not use it
    4. ChromeCast – Good, except it doesn’t have Amazon Instant Prime
    5. NowTV – Quality was pretty poor in comparison (may have changed since)
    6. XBMC – Has all the features, not easy to use in comparison

Are the Smart TV features worth it: Yes, if it doesn’t cost much extra and you go for a decent brand like Samsung, I haven’t used any other Smart TV’s so can’t comment on other brands.

Bigger ones are easier to fly, now go buy a bigger one.

When flying miniature drones and heli’s around the home, you have to know where the drafts and air flow is and use it to your advantage.

I have to wait until May/June for my drone to turn up, I hope I get a mini quadcopter for Christmas… Again!

Saw this on The Gadget Show and the graphics did look very good!

What Graphics card does it need? Want to give it a go on the Laptop as the PC has too much dust on it these days.

Great reviews on the Fox 36 2015 version. Looking to replace my 180/140mm 2 Step Lyrik with them due to the 2 step throwing a wobbly everytime it gets worked hard despite having seals replaced.

8 Phones, 2Gb Shared Data, 2000 Txts – £250-300 ish a month. Only get 1-2 new phones every 2 years.

Our business contract is rubbish, personal contracts seems cheaper! Everyone gets a new phone, unlimited txts, 2-4gb data for less!

Right foot, unless there are right corners/switchbacks, it doesn’t feel weird with left foot forward.

left, then right, then left again… That’s how I roll.

I had a ReadyNAS and wouldn’t recommend it, slow, not very easy to configure and very limited. I have a Synology NAS at work that is pretty good, but at £400+ it’s quite a lot of money.

HP Microserver cost £100 (on offer) and is basically a PC/Server with a small PSU. Now this thing can do anything and everything! You will need to install an OS and set it up tho. I have running DLNA, uTorrent, Web Server, Logitech Media Server (sync’d music throughout house, poor mans Sonos), File Server, iTunes Server and probably more, but I haven’t had my morning cuppa tea yet.

HP Microserver uses about 35w of power (same as ReadyNAS Duo), which is now 50w as I have added another 2tb drive an extra 2gb ram and a decent soundcard for recording.
