If you can open what you want to send in Safari, you can File > Mail Contents of This Page, which will then copy all the HTML from Safari across to a new message in Mail.

What’s in the zip file? If HTML, then you could edit that, open in Safari and away you go.

Does that help any?

Edit – Email in profile, I can take a look if you want.

When I travel to the Alps, I get on a train in Edinburgh, hook up with friends in London, and spend a day driving across France. Does it take a long time? Yep. Is it relaxing. Yep. The only time I flew, I joined a group for week 2 of their fortnight holiday, and they had taken my bike with them the week before as there was no way I was risking a damaged bike, and I missed the drive. There’s something about that drive to Morzine…

Having said that, about 20 singlespeeders got on an Easyjet flight to Berlin for the 2004 SSWC – they managed that fine, bikes arrived in the baggage hall before we did, still freezing cold. On the way back, they forgot to wheel the trolley into the baggage reclaim – causing a bit of a delay, but all arrived safe and sound. Perhaps, as people have said, they are getting worse.

And FWIW, Endsleigh insurance covers DH mountain biking (I phoned and verified) and costs less than a round of drinks in Morzine. I think that’s a price worth paying.

Commiserations. Losing bikes to thieves sucks.

When mine was stolen I even spotted them riding off as I legged it out of the front door. Police knew who had done it, I ID’d him, but even with a prosecution and 280 hrs of community service for the scroat, I never saw the bike again.

One the other hand, a friend spotted another friends frame being ridden in a new build, chased him down and called the cops. Friend 2 ended up with the frame back after about 7 months. All the parts were never seen again.

Edited my shameful spelling

I followed the route around Beinn a’Ghlo from here and a bunch of OS maps. There are probably better resources these days!

I know people who purposefully clip the log with their front wheel to give it extra lift, whilst going for the hop, so it ends up kinda like a bunny hop. I don’t do this!

Learning how the bike handles a chainring/log interface helps a lot. My SS has no bashring so I have to be a bit careful not to smash the chain into logs.

TA Axix (steel version). Super easy to replace the cartridge bearings when they wear out. RRP from Chicken £74.

Can’t seem to get the deep link to Chicken to work;

But the pros uses tubes tubs normally

Tubulars can come unglued and come off the rim if the rim heats up too much. See Joseba Beloki’s 2003 TdF crash.

Probably not in the TdF as they just change a wheel, but some punctured tyres will be reinflated with CO2 from one of those tiny gas canisters – smaller to carry one of those than a pump on a ride.

now inagine the chaos as 150+ riders in the peleton all boil their fluid coming down alp-du-huez at the same time at 70mph?

Probably similar to the carnage caused by the glue melting and tubular tyres rolling off because the rim has got too hot. Ask Joseba Beloki.

I don’t have to pedal toes down because my saddle is up high, I have to have my saddle up high because I pedal toes down. It’s not too high full stop. I know when it is.

Where I ride, there aren’t many ‘descents’ to speak of, but there are loads of logovers and rock gardens on otherwise flat/rolling trails. Slipping a comfort inch for those makes a load of difference, but then my legs muscles scream.

Arial wasn’t commissioned by Microsoft. Monotype created it, not as a direct copy but as a substitute; a redrawing of Grotesque with the same body size as Helvetica. However, Microsoft shipped Arial with Windows, making it super popular = a target for haters.

But, I still prefer DIN

The Cycles Maximus trikes (the ones that some cycle taxis, and parcel carrying couriers use) have a similar setup, although I think they have just 2 rings at the front.

You can achieve a stupidly low gearing which is essential for getting heavy loads up steep hills. I occasionally used to deliver bundles of newspapers to shops and newsagents, and was glad to have a super wide range of gears.

Looks great! Good photos too. What was the final spend?

I used to have a set like of pedals like that, and ended up standing on the edge far too many times. Parallelogram profile ones suited me much better.

That last one is better IMO!
Bit of a mis-match between the 3D of the chainring (?) and the flat text. Maybe try the text in the same 3D style?
I also tried to read it as mtbarena first.

the official figures assume you drive like miss daisy

Well, IIRC Miss Daisy drove her car into the garden and then got Morgan Freeman to drive her around. Are you suggesting we get chaffeurs? :-)

Another RS8 with UN5? here. I also use a square taper TA Axix steel BB on the fixed road bike – Very nice unit, not silly money and most importantly – standard cartridge bearings mean it’s a doddle to replace worn out bearings, with whatever grade of bearing takes your fancy/fits your budget. Worth a look IMO http://www.specialites-ta.com/produits/boitiers_gb.htm

I’ve never tried a 29er because I might like it too much and I can’t afford one!

Would love to have a proper fast xc racey 29er. Something like a Superfly…

I have a 09 Bionicon Ironwood. It was fitted with an XC X-Fusion air shock rather than the proper beefy air shock it was supposed to have. Shock went bang in the Alps last year and I needed to do a bodge with a 2nd hand Fox shock and leave the fork at full length. Roger got the shock replaced no problem. I have to calibrate mine a fair bit. Whenever the suspension is a bit ‘off’ – topping out, not adjusting properly, a quick calibrate sorts it. It takes a few seconds, assuming the air pressure is still correct.

I’ve ridden mine through the Lakes, Peaks, Alps and plenty of Tweed Valley stuff. The difference in the angles is really noticeable – the Ironwood drops something like 4″ at the front – not sure in real terms what the rear end goes up by. I find that I really notice the weight – because it climbs so well. Previously I had a Giant AC (6.6″) with 7″ Boxxers. As the angles were so slack it was an arse to get up a hill, so the weight was just an additional issue. With the Bionicon, I notice the weight being the limiting factor.

I love it.

I’ve also misplaced riding kit. It’s usually in a bag, dirty and in a corner of the bikes area, or fallen somewhere out of sight in the car. Always a pleasure finding those

You always go the same foot forward I’m guessing. I recently forced myself to run wrong foot forward, getting to the point of doing log-overs and drops the wrong way round makes riding technical pedally stuff loads easier.

I lost the wee bolt from a DMR chain tensioner. Had opened the packet, realised that the chain tension was perfect, so never used it. Then when the chain stretched and I needed it, missing bolt :-(

But never something as big as a tyre – your abode must be really tidy… :D

Militant_biker

Did the suspension ever work? If it did, and it’s seized solid then it might be possible to get them moving again – but it might not be easy. If they never worked in the first place it’s a different matter.

At a guess, I’d say it would be quite difficult to get those forks working smoothly, so it may be worth either getting some cheap 2nd hand suspension forks or a set of rigid forks to replace them with.

In more general terms, a decent clean, lube and tune of the drivechain will make it feel loads better; if you’ve been running it on road and leaving it outside at school, the chain etc may well be pretty gunked up. A service of the wheel bearings might not go amiss either.

Hope this helps

25.4mm flat bars are getting tricky to find new, and very difficult to find anything ‘wide’. I’m still running them with bar ends ends as I iz jeyboi. Plenty of options for oversize flat bars.

we Dont remove all packaging when doing brake swap ect i have heard of other shops even test riding bikes before they send them

Really? You take bikes straight from the supplier and punt them out to customers straight away? 8O

If that is the case, and unless Cube work differently to most other major bike manufacturer out there – I’m not surprised you have problems with some bikes you send out…

STW uses AnythingSlider or at least, they have a “<div class=”anythingSlider”> in their page source. I use the same code on my page – it was quite a pain to get just how I want it, but I got there in the end.
