Dont bother with a bush cutter blade as they are not very effective, so long as you have a relatively powerful petrol strimmer buy a Oregon mulching blade

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oregon-Universal-Vegetation-Professional-Brushcutters/dp/B00RZH0V4G/ref=sr_1_2?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.-s7iO8px2En7E8Xi3P5W4sgEAAvhpqQ6gOd0yzh-_dzlspn9I4T1vEjrTzhhCNk63gcomaXjV6buwThYEulKWux6rcK4N3FJB570cMyW2ZCY4Vrxoqito1vgwU1m0q4PByJUOvzEHlHQ4k1Z46aExOrWLQ0nKC1ShcTcbrl1KTcKZ8ASx1dCInwDD2XFJQpbmV9MTX_0D_1ilo5jsNl_INUyaMkbEnOMX4o2_zhK6Bk.A8IEz0lEkNH1GQ2VjnhLgXrO0tf5sPU-Qav1bHw27C0&dib_tag=se&keywords=oregon%2Bmulching%2Bblade&qid=1721367885&sr=8-2&th=1

it will blast through brambles and  branches up to 2 cm thick, just make sure you have some PPE as well, to use it don’t just ram it in but instead use a gentle up and down action and it will very quickly and with out much effort from you clear brambles

I looked into the legalities Of taking photographs in public by watching a really good YouTube video  by a professional photographer who, explained what he can and can’t do but he also showed some security guards getting all upset when he was taking photographs of the outside of the building, this was in central London.
After watching that video  the algorithm started throwing up, other videos, including ones of auditors . I surprised and disappointed by the lack of professionalism, and how  Ill informed, some of the police were.

This  being a prime example,  and from an Inspector who was found guilty of assault.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-63412662

To be fair to the police, security guards and owners/managers of factories the auditors can be class A windup merchants as the more views they get the more money they earn.

If the Police officers can’t deal with them without losing their temper they have been poorly trained/managed or are in the wrong profession. The videos from the US of Police are on another level of bad.

I had a 2 hour private lesson in Tenerife earlier this week, at the end I managed to get a few very short flights  and in the next 2 hours of free sailing I managed to get longer just about in control flights all the time I managed to stay up wind with in a hundred meters or so.

For a  light wind alternative to windsurfing with expensive heavy kit it is a game changer, as soon as you are up the wing is quite light in the hands and when not on the foil the wing is still easy to hold.

As for it replacing windsurfing for me I would say no once it is blowing a steady 15 knots with stronger gusts but is it is below winging is the way ahead, as for kites I think the same applies but at a lower wind strength as if there are lulls that cause the wing to drop or you don’t want to sell a kidney to get a ram air kite and a foil then a wing foil could be worth a look.

As for the learning curve it is way easier than windsurfing to get to the point where you are up and on the foil compared to planning on a windsurfing board.

I would recommend that you go and have a lesson and give it a go my only tip is to let go of the wing when you fall in and to enjoy it

You can get Fiberpile (the liner dry robe use)but only in black but you can get a huge range of fleece and the material for the outer from here.
Fleece and Soft Shell – Outdoor & Camping

You can sew Fiberpile with a domestic sewing machine with a bit of care by sewing the fluffy sides face to face.
If you find a source for Fiberpile other than black please let me know

    No in a word

If you are quite up with your IT skills it can be done, a guy a few years ago used to have a Site where you could download the programs but he was asked nicely by their lawyers to stop (his words not mine).

After a quick Google it looks like the insurance companies divide claims for cars being flooded into two categories
Unintentionally driving into flood waters where they will pay out.
Intentional driving into flood water where they do not pay out.

It would be interesting to know what happens in the real world and to those who drive a leased vehicle into flood waters and cause it to be an insurance total loss.

I fitted a few boards for a customer, you need a minimum of 150mm width if you need to rip one down so as said above measure before you you start and work out what you need to do.

I used turbo gold screws from screw fix and glued the joins with PVA, as the board were old stock I made a tool so that I could use a mallet to get them to butt up tight with out damaging the tongue and groove.

Oh and you will need 3 screws per joist which really adds up

I wouldn’t bother making a trip to TK Maxx to buy a knife as it seems that they have stopped selling them.

I haven’t seen any knifes there for several years which is a shame as several other guys here and myself have managed to buy some great knifes for not much cash in the past.

If you have bought a weber go anywhere you are well on the way to success.

Some of the advise previously posted isn’t going to help you .

This site will guide you and explain what, why and how and give you a great understanding of what works and why,

The Ultimate Destination For BBQ Recipes, Science, And Reviews

The only must buy is a chimney starter , charcoal wise brickets are absolutely fine and are great for slow cooking even cheap ones. The only stuff to keep away from is the instant lighting stuff as it can taint the food.

Investing in a instant reading temp probe is a good idea and you will find that you will use it all the time in the kitchen and with the BBQ

There is no need to precook food and if not treated carefully there is a good chance of food poisoning.
With a covered BBQ you can setup two zones by having the coals on just one side so you can direct grill and have an oven on the otherside.

Have fun and read up on the basics at the amazing ribs site and you wont go far wrong, one top tip is to try cheap meat from Aldi Lidl etc first so if the temps go wildly wrong when smoking you won’t be too upset.

Have fun and let us know how you get on

If the boss is in school education you might want to check that she can work in an Welsh school as quite a few demand a Welsh language qualification even though the school is teaching in English, they have been known to drop this if you are a Maths or science teacher.
Worth checking it out before you move

Just buy a second hand DSL’s I picked up a Nikon D5000 for £75 with a low shutter count and the suitable lens for another £75 ,if she changes her mind you can simply resist it, not all DSL’s are big and the big advantage over compact cameras are that the menus for manual settings are easier to access.

She won’t need anything more than a half decent mobile phone camera for gcse and that from the wife who is a art teacher.

If it is his first DSlR have a look on Facebook marketplace, I picked up a Nikon D5000 and Tamron 70-300 lens for £150 the shutter had only 30K . Also look around for SH lens and maybe a 35mm prime which you can pickup new for £130, you often hear people say spend your money on glass (Lens) not the body. Just make sure the lens will be suitable for older and newer bodies. If the college have Nikons it would make sense to use the same .
The college will be more interested in his composition of the image and DOF etc than if there is a a touch of distortion or a spec of dust in the lens.

Once he has pushed the limits of the cheaper/older camera he can upgrade the body and will know what he actually needs in a camera and will be able to make an educated purchase and then sell on the old one again and get back almost all of the money. Do test out the camera as much as possible and check some images from it first oh check how many actuations the shutter has done. There are plenty to pick from on FB marketplace

Oh wise ones of STW how long would the 5Kw gas last as it’s a more portable option?

I picked up a full 5kg bottle from FB marketplace for £25 and have since cooked 8 pizzas and the gauge hasn’t moved yet.

We bought a hummer from HobbyKing for my FIL he normally flys scratch built models and he loves it and always takes it to the field, you can fly it normal style then adjust the throws and fly it hooligan style. The FIL loves as he has learnt new manoeuvres as the crashes are painless.
Legally now you need a “permit” to fly anything over 250 grams all the info is on the BMFA site

I was based at RAF Valley 93-95. RAF fast Jet school = many crashes. The first, I was just about to cross the Rhosnieger end of the runway when I saw two parachutes coming down. Thought “ooo, were we expecting a display today”. Then I noticed the burning Hawk on the runway. The pilot plus the student had both ejected on the runway after the gear collapsed.
I think there was a crash nearly every week, esp at RAF Mona when they get the landing wrong.

Your memory of that time and the info here are very different

Given the regularity with which Meteors dropped out of the sky when they were in service I think MB have done remarkably well to keep them flying!

The Meteor was nicknamed the meat box at the time which says a lot, asymmetric thrust at low level was a killer. The loss of aircraft and life’s in the 50-60s was horrendous attitudes then compared to now are poles apart

Wickes,B and Q,Toolstation,Screwfix,Travis Perkins,Jewson and local builders merchants all closed down, having a major effect on us tradesmen and builders.

A few of the above are doing click and collect and here in the SW Bradfords builders merchants are open for the trade only, prior appointment only and are busy

As colournoise said, my wife does the same job and has had students get A passes using a half decent mobile and photoshop elements or an IPad. I picked up a low count Nikon D5000 for £75 on Facebook marketplace and for me it was a good starting point, as for older lens check compatibility camera and lens as they are not always compatible.

Also have a good look at the lens you have first as they could be full of dust and fungus so useless.

    Good luck

I looked on line and found that my house was the next band up compared to the other houses of the same design ( 80s built estate where the houses were a mix up of about 5 designs) I put in the paperwork and it was rejected. So i found the original planning permission which showed what each house design was and annotated it with the tax band and went with a copy to the district office and showed one of the staff who looked at it and asked if he could have it and a week later it was adjusted down and i had a nice big cheque from the council. This was about 10 years ago and he told me that they didnt go and look at the houses just at the maps

The Grillstock founding directors (info on Company check) left last year then the company had problems which ment they went into administration. Not long after the Grillstock fest was cancelled as they claimed there wasn’t enough time to organise it. As for ticketfairy there is a full statement in the Bristol Post stating thier position.

There are lots of posts on Grillstocks Facebook site about this issue but nothing from them for a few weeks.

Good look getting your money back

We have a Tilley lamp which runs on paraffin lots of light and heat and will run for hours on one fill, you can get all the spares . The Coleman lamps which run on petrol/coleman fuel/panel wipe are great but I dont like the idea of petrol lamps and stoves as if a seal leaks you have a big problem.

I have been using a screwdriver(No2 philips/JIS) made by snap-on for Katun everyday for several years and have tried other snap-on screwdrivers and there is a huge difference. The katun/Snap-on fits perfectly whereas the snap-on No2 philips does not and cams out. The screws are mostly marked as JIS, I have used many other No2 Philips over the years.

Which others fit well is a bit random, standard Snap-on are useless but yet I have used a £1 cheapie which fitted like a dream but long term use would be useless are it would wear very quickly.

I think Converts idea is great for several reasons
1: its different from what most people will have done
2: shows initative and some free thinking
3: You will have to be self reliant and rely on your wits a bit especially if you are brave and go with out a phone, gps etc
4:Being on your own for several weeks(solitary) will give you some mental toughness which will stand you in good stead if you want a life in the military
As posted above ask on arrse or pprune mil for some tips , I think they both have stickies for prospective officers.

Good luck and lets us know what you choice to do

On a Sunday I would go to the collection of containers behind M shed as they house a collection of street food places, if that doesn’t take your float your boat there is the Brunel Buttery for bacon butties just another 100m further along

Sadly it has been the same for many years, my late uncle used to do to London town for work for many years and he being a good honest/ church going man felt moved to help a guy begging on offering him a meal in a local cafe he was rebuffed as the beggar want the money for drugs/alcohol.

My uncle was a kind person but no fool and was subjected to some verbal abuse but stood his ground and refused to hand over any cash. this was 30-40 years ago.
