My finger has been hovering over the cancel button for a while with netflix. Amazon prime is killing it with movies and tv shows whike NF just seem to be pumping out crappy content at an alarming rate

Really? Care to share? I have the opposite view at the moment.

The hood: a covering for the head and neck with an opening for the face, typically forming part of a coat or sweatshirt.

Umbrellas are a pain in the wotsit for everyone.

I’d echo pretty much everything Pinkster said. Mine’s been excellent so far (3 months). I wear mine pretty much all the time and use the GPS for running and cycling. I’ve even used it in the gym for the treadmill and weights, which actually works OK. It’s doesn’t recognise all of the weight exercises but you can manually input those it misses.

For the money, I don’t think there is better out there. If you spend a fair chunk more you can get the Samsung S3 Frontier, which is “smarter”, but I didn’t see the point and I’m happy with the choice I made.

I get almost a week out the battery if I don’t use the GPS, but it’s rare that I go through weeks without using it. The GPS does cane the battery life, but it’ll easily do a 4 hour ride and still last a couple of days.

Those Gtech things are over $1k here in canada: I don’t think that quite fits into the “spend as little as possible” category 😁

I forgot to add: I am Legend and Sacrament (latter by Clive Barker).

Pretty much all Cormac McCarthy’s books do that. I’d also add House of Leaves, Lord of the Rings, Grapes of Wrath, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Swan Song.

PS. I thought they did a decent job with the film of The Road.

I started watching that but the limited camera coverage made it quite tedious.

I like them, but I don’t love them, like I do the LoTR films.

Don’t be fooled: It’s all a construct of The Matrix/Sky.

I didn’t mention distance in my OP but it would be for longer runs, out into back country.

I completely agree that people carry too much stuff. I never carry water on anything less than half marathon distance.

The thing is, here in Canada,  I like to do a run out to somewhere scenic, stop chill out for a while, and then do a gentle run back. Some of these places can be quite remote,  so water, phone etc are essential.

The best Star trek captain,  in my opinion. I hope the rest of the cast can do him justice.

You were a character in a nerdy **** sci-fi television show, get over yourself ffs

Try telling that to Nichelle Nichols.

saw Extinction (another netflix film) yesterday too. has a lower budget, Netflix series feel to it. Reminded me a lot of Skyline, but then didn’t, and that’s all I’m going to say on that, aside from it was an enjoyable film.

I’ve just watched that: Nice idea, but I thought it was pretty rubbish. The acting was terrible, with the lead guy being worst culprit: It was like watching a wooden spoon, and not one of those nice Le Creuset ones; more one of those cheap Ikea ones.

I think they’re never going to take on the big guys but what they have done is put a massive spotlight on EV’s and start some real social change and that is highly commendable

Wasn’t that the point of Tesla in the first place? I seem to remember reading that Musk had the intention of making their technology open source anyway; hence, effectively killing off Tesla as a primary manufacturer. Aside from that, I’ve always had the impression Tesla were a fly-by-night operation; at least as a car manufacturer.

Yeah, I thought BP was disappointing: full of cliches and stereotypes.

My office, here in Vancouver, had a Pride event in the cafe and large meeting room upstairs: free alcohol, free food, and lots of interesting posters talking about key people, historical events, social conventions etc. It was purely voluntary (literally), but why wouldn’t you?

I’ve found the BTwin (Decathlon) ones to be OK, but only up to short distances (30-40km). My favourite shorts, the ones I’ve done 100+ mile rides in, are my DHB Aeron.

I’ve got some Assos non-bib shorts that are about 10 years old and refuse to die, but I haven’t tried their bibs.

FTR I haven’t tried the more expensive brands.

Tool lake some great, and bewildering, videos.

    Others:

    Metallica: One

    Beastie Boys: Sabotage

    Duran Duran: Wild Boys

Neurosis: Locust Star (more weird than anything)

    Gojira always do creative stuff

It may be primarily about the space programme but Michael Collins’ Carrying the Fire is a great book. Lots of test pilot stuff in there too.

nursing, social work, OT, physical therapist … loads of job specific degrees you could have thought of really.

They all still give you lots of transferable skills.

Not enough jobs around for someone with a biology degree? I’m sorry but I dont buy it: I cant think of a single degree subject that limits you to one particular job. All first degrees offer wide enough subject matter to provide access to a large variety of jobs. It’s only post-grad courses where you start specialising. Even seemingly specialist degrees,  such a medicine, architecture, law etc. actually leave you equipped to do many different things.

Usually the problem is in the attitude and imagination of the graduate (and often employers as well). However,  this isn’t their fault as few people have a defined career path at that age.

They should make higher ed more accessible in later life, when people have had more of a chance to get to know what they like and want.

Shouldn’t the headline be: “half of all graduates regret not being more focused in their early career decisions” or “half of all graduates realise that 16-18 is probably not the best time to be making life-defining career decisions”….. or ” current system makes it unnecessarily difficult to change career later in life”.

What’s wrong with Rob Halford? I have nothing against Bryan May, either.

I think even Bono finds it difficult to top the bellendery of Kanye West.

It’s utterly disgraceful: Some guy cracks a couple of [bad] jokes and 10 years later is sacked because of it. There’s definitely something fishy about this.

Cheers guys. All of  those seem feasible. The thing is it’s now done it with 2 different routers: the one at my friends house,  where I was staying  temporarily,  and now with my own router, in my own apartment. Two completely different makes and models of modem. As a result, I’m tempted to look for an issue in the laptop itself.

I have been tempted to get a windows lappy for a while so maybe this is the time :-D

PS: I’ve read about the country code thing before but can’t anywhere in the OS where I would set it. I think its automatically obtained from the network.

    Possibly:

    and

    B) Cycling is a lower impact sport.

The tournament is poorer without Germany.

    Sweden Vs Switzerland?

    I’ll give that a miss.

Really? Germany may have been successful but that hasn’t always meant attractive football. I reckon the Swede/Swiss game could be fairly entertaining.

The same thing happened to me, albeit with a lesser amount (still £7600): no warning, just a deposit from Lloyd’s bank in my account one day. My application hadn’t even been acknowledged.
