Scotland are at home at Murrayfield, where they can, and are expected to win against any team

    Rubbish.

I was going to say Easy rider and then I found out it was 1969. Its probably Alien, Jaws, Apocalypse Now or Taxi Driver.

    What’s a NAS?

Network Attached Storage: It’s a remote storage device attached to your network that you can access from multiple devices.

I’ve never used itunes but can’t you just download all your music from itunes and then upload it to your chosen location/device?

Great driver, but a bit too American for my tastes.

Yes I know he’s British (and ought to be Scots with a name like that) but somehow always comes across a bit mid-Atlantic. Not that his being British would automatically make him likeable.

Do you realise how much of a p**** that makes you sound?

Awesome driver. Congratulations, Lewis. One of the best.

Red the OP’s post – songs to listen to before going to sleep. I only just read it, but think mine fit.

I’ve been listening to the Devin Townsend before I go to sleep, but I suspect that might not be appropriate. Anyhoo, here you go:

Sorry, I need a list of defined deliverables so I make sure I’m posting the right stuff. Personally, I find some really heavy music “beautiful”, but that may not fulfill the OP’s criteria.

    Define “beautiful”.

Some random guy in a bar recommended them to me, based on the fact I was wearing a Bad Religion t-shirt and also like bands like Sick of it All. I listened to them and very quickly decided they aren’t for me.

    Chapman

I wouldn’t buy anything that egotistical muppet puts his name to.

Personally, I’d go for an Epi LP, possibly the 60s Tribute Plus, or maybe a PRS of some description. However, go into a few shops and try them.

From what I’ve heard, I’d also avoid Andertons as their CS is rubbish.

I enjoy going on my own. I’d rather that than stand there worrying whether the person I’m with is enjoying it or not. It’s also nice to be free from having to make arrangements to fit around others.

When I think of the two words “warm” and “fuzz” in musical terms, I think of this epic slice of awesomeness:

Certainly not a curry: I sleep bad enough after a night out as it is, let alone also with a stomach full of curry**.

A slice of toast is generally my go to post-pub grub but if I had to chose from one of the OP suggestions, it would be A slice of pizza.

If I went out early (say, to watch a footie match), and heading home earlier, I might consider a curry, or possibly a chicken shish, but not after 9pm.

**For the record: I love a good curry.

I watched Apostle on Netflix, the other day. It was alright, but pretty forgetful, except for one particularly grim scene. Imagine the original Wicker Man, made my the people who brought us Saw, Hostel and other such modern nastyrama.

Unfortunately Canada has really poor internet shopping infrastructure

    As I’m just finding out.

Anyhoo,  I stopped into the bike shop in Vancouver, on the way to work this morning, and picked up a Phenom for $40. The guy in the store said it was an OEM one taken off a bike and “its probably worth more, but you can have it for $40”.

I’d rather not because if I crash and damage it I’d have to buy 2 saddles and that’s my road bike out of action as well.

I assume you’ve asked a Specialized dealer for availability and timeframe to store?

    a) I haven’t had a chance to get to one yet (bloody work getting in the way)’

    b) I was hoping to get something for this weekend.

Not really an option: I need it now as the saddle I currently have is painful.

    I’d get a 155mm toupe

Equally hard to get hold of.

I was having this discussion with someone in the office here: The problem with the UK is there are no national holidays between the end of August and Christmas. Here in Canada we have Labor Day in September, Thanksgiving in October, Remembrance Day in November, and then Christmas in December.

I haven’t noticed any nods towards Christmas here yet: Everything is all Helloweeny at the moment and it seems the regular holidays keep people’s minds off Christmas; at lease for a while.

In short: The UK needs more statutory holidays.

It’s certainly not provable that the bracelet event happened, but it’s plausible.

I agree it can’t be completely ruled out but everything his wife [at the time] has said suggests it is very unlikely.

60s – The Allman Brothers Band

70s – Black Sabbath: Master of Reality

80s: Metallica: Ride the Lightning (or Iron Maiden: Number of the Beast).

90s: Alice in Chains: Dirt (or Neurosis: Through Silver in Blood)

    00s: Down II

    10s: Mastodon: Crack the Skye

    Possibly……..

given that it was 1969 surely there can’t be any spoilers lol

    That was the joke lol.

There’s a great deal of evidence that he did.

Haha. I meant the bracelet bit.

How about just having an open and Frank discussion about it with him? It doesn’t have to be awkward like the sex talk, just tell him your experiences and concerns.

There’s no need to be a grumpy old dad about it.

and like many <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Quebecois</span>, spoke French and English

    Fixed that for you.

Anyhoo: I think you shouldn’t be defined by the country you were, through no fault of your own, born in. You are who you are, regardless of where you are born.

I was born in England but I’ve never considered myself strongly British.

You can can get a bike for <£100, why does anyone need an £8k one?

That’s a bit of a draft comparison: what you should have done is compared a 8k bike to a 2k bike; then, you may have a point.

I would argue a 2k bike will be significantly better, and more enjoyable to ride, than a £100 bike. I can’t necessarily say the same about a 8k bike compared to a 2k bike (I’ve had both).

I see material things as tools that allow me to do the things I need to do. Anything superfluous to that is materialistic, in my view.

What is materialism? I bought an acoustic guitar the other day: I love having guitars around as playing them helps me relax and I missed having one around (I didn’t have room to bring them when I moved out here). I’m now looking at getting an electric, for the same reason. Is that materialism? I’m not saying it isn’t, just interested in the definition. You could apply the same to anything that helps you cope mentally, such as bikes.

I can’t think of any more effective way to ensure buy-in than calling the people you want to join your cause ‘idiots’

I think the time for politeness has now passed: When a polite letter stops being effective due to being repeatedly ignored, you have to start using bricks.

but Mourinho is one of the best managers in the modern premier league era

No he is not. Even if he was, which is debatable, he isn’t any more. He’s now a mercenary looking for his next pay-off. His man management skills are, and always have been, terrible, which is why his jobs have always started to fall apart around the 3 year mark. Players will only take so much of his nonsense before they start to rebel. Couple that with a run of bad results and the players soon say we don’t have to put up with this crap.

Quite why he thinks it is good management to publicly throw his players under the bus he’s just parked in front of the goal is beyond me.

I’m sure Trump will take credit for the new unemployment stats but, in reality, they are only following the trend of the last 8/9 years. If anything, the trend has been slowing down since Trump took over:

I was going to see Venom (this was where Spiderman got interesting) this Friday but the reviews have really put me off. It sounds like the film company destroyed it and left the best bits on the editing floor. However, I am looking forward to seeing First Man and Bad Times at El Royale.

You will spend too much time marvelling at the awesomeness of it to take it apart. I prefer the horizontal storage style.

I ended up giving mine to my brother as I was moving here (Canada). I hope to build another in the foreseeable future.

I’m sold on running caps: Went for a run in the pouring rain today (only 5km in 22:30 – see my earlier posts about injuries) and it was like running on a nice spring day**.

** this may be an exaggeration, but you get the idea.
