It would be easier to cross at Dover and drive the coast before a smaller ferry from France wouldn’t it? 900 quid is almost as much as the ferry to Spain we looked into.

the useless pillocks are taking 20 minutes to reply on the phone, to confirm an online order! Not surprised there isn’t a second hand market.

It’s not bee binned, but as it took the GOpro 4 Black with it into the fence I care little about the drone compared with the Camera!

Looking longingly at a phantom 2 for simplicity and an already proven flight style.

Nope, just yawed unexpectedly across the drive. I might give up and save up for an out of the box solution.

Single track is a fantastic forum. Ask a question about something completely unrelated to bikes and you get half a dozen answers. Ask on a drone forum and you get, nothing. Not a sausage on two out of three, a request for information on one, then silence.
Which is why stw is my first choice for just about everything.

Guessing after this discussion the cooling fins make no difference whatsoever?

I’m hovering over Deore’s as I really don’t need the power to stop me (limited mass) Tried a friends first generation SLX and thought they were a bit wooden. Lacking moderation and too digital – both off and over the bars settings on offer.

Hum, liking the slightly bent disc option of Slx and XT. I can’t justify the money for hope’s.

Joining the speculation track world did anyone notice a small blu grey bloom of what looks like smoke or mist from the rear centre of the plane shortly before the wobble? Would a leaking hydraulic system reduce elevator throw to a degree where full deflection became impossible? Just askin’

Thanks for that, loads of garmin 500’s about, just need to find someone to chat to about them. 520 looks to have more than enough features to navigate a rout from and to record tracks with as for live Strava feeds, no thanks.

i’ll admit that i’m poor at maintaining my bike. Don’t really keep on top of it as when I finish a ride i’m too knackered to fix myself let alone a bike. Which is why I avoid Shimano hubs as a rule.

If I was on top of the servicing, they’d be fine. My old DX hubs are still running great, however once the surface of the bearing gets worn, I have the chuck hub spokes and rim into the bin.

Have the front fixed soon, save pennies and buy a new wheel with a Hope rear hub. Never visit a bike shop again.

Fence is done. Gains were dropped massively after a rather harsh landing after the wobbling began. I decided I wasn’t working. I’ll look at the gains again if i get home while it isn’t raining or very very windy which has accompanied the building of the craft in a spooky way.
from memory they might have been as high as 160% to get rid of the yaw induced drop which put it onto the grass.

I’m also in Leeds, well shipley/Bradford. I’ve had it flying nicely but under a breeze it flutters and descends rapidly and i’d like to have it stable.
I’ve got a couple of videos under calm conditions when it was behaving well ish.

Well my version is based on the Naza unit too, suing a custom frame and 2212 motors flying a three cell 4000ah battery. The Gain settings are the key to getting a good steady flight. So far my version has a trembling flight and can addopt a rapdly oscelating flight pattern (resulting in sudden loss of height) simila to a Vortex ring state but not while descending but usually into the wind. Hovering is almost ok but I’d love to find someone locally who could fly it and see where they thing the problem lays.

Ive had some cable discs but even though they were simple, I was never happy with them and they required re-spacing before every ride. I’m thinking this is a question of a damaged caliper deal leaking oil and causing soft lever feel wet pads and howling noises. Hope stuff is expensive but even though I can service the lever from the ground up, I’m not sure I will ever want to.

Its not a Phantom, just uses a NAZA at its heart, it is about Phantom sized. Just can’t get the thing to fly in a behaved way. I’d not be modifying an 800 quid version.

great tip with the bog roll. Just can’t find a hint anywhere, but the pads are always dirty with that dark slightly damp disc dirt when you wipe it with a finger.
    SLX might be better.

Walked away from avid juicy brakes, never going back. I have to change both intergrated shifters and brakes so I can choose whatever I want. I just can’t fix what j have. Hopes are appealing but they have a howling reputation themselves.

I fitted ours myself after getting some obscene quotes for running a tube in and writing the bill.
Dragged a SS flue up and clamped it to the pot clover was the hardest part. measuring the hearth and tiling it in slate and connecting it all together. I’m sure the local council would jump on my head, the weren’t interested in visiting to inspect the work for notification whatsoever the lazy sods. So I’m going to take the thing with me when we move.

Hum, no numbers on the Carbon stem anywhere. Just a figure on the middle of the bars. Upping the bolt torque on the stem resulted in the bars still slipping so perhaps it’s a lost leader. How carbon fails at such a critical part frightens me so I’ll ride better with metal parts.

I have a BB30 frame in the road bike, it came with an adaptor pushed into the frame. if pf30 is the same then I’d do this. Quite a few about by all accounts. Didn’t actauly do it myself you understand, I came that way.

A friend who runs a Camper conversion company was very interested in those vans as they look to see what will be the most common van on the market second hand in three years. Sky and the like were buying those in large numbers so he decided it was worth developing stuff for that van, due to the numbers of them in use.
No idea about the gearbox, but if the van was cheap enough you could get a spare.

Most smokers stink. Usually they smell of death disguised below perfume or aftershave, but a quick opening of the mouth gives it away.

Metered a battery can be 12 v and yet under load drops off significantly. The testers use a device with a resister in to make the battery work to measure the amps under load.

We had a firm bed in our camper and it was much improved with a 2″ memory foam topper. It’s now incorporated into the bed mattress as the extra storage space it too was valuable.

It depends on what your shooting and who or what it’s for. If you just like video of your ‘awesomeness’ and it’s going onto Facebook on YouTube as is, get something cheaper. If you need or want much more resolution, pay for it. Don’t spend more than YOU need to, it’s not worth it.

Oh my god that’s awfull I’m so sorry. I don’t know what to say. To think it’s just starting for you now as it did almost a week ago for us is very very sad. I should recommend a company called stopoverconnections. For places to stay in France booked by someone who uses language like a local. Interesting places with real French people.
