    Hmmmm. Could be right, Tree.
Suppose I should tack it as read.

Must say I'm quite impressed with the de-livery of some of these lines. So much so that I'm filly respect for you guys.

On that note, I'll follow Drain's lead, and I'll get my colt.

I don't wish to stirrup any bad feelings here, but really….that's enough now.
This thread needs put out to grass, and soon.
We're all jockeying for 'funniest punner' of STW, and someone's gonna end up in the knacker's yard.

(BTW, SJP has some lovely legs on her. Pure pedigree.)

I'm doing the same for the first (and hopefully only) time, today.
    Bubble-wrapped and boxed.
Spoke to local Parcelforce depot, and can drop it off there to be weighed, then pay the charge and off it goes.
If you have no car, it may be better to have courier come pick it up.

Whinny-a gonna stop with these lame jokes?
    Honestly. It's a bit off.
You'll saddle yourselves with bad reputations.

    That was very absorbing, Coastkid.
    Excellent work.
Does inspire one to acquire such a bike and just go with the (tide)flow!

Like Futon, I would love to know who the soundtrack is by, and what the tune is called. It was lovely – very apt for the visuals.

You've brightened my soul today. Thank you.

had a look at both websites – thanks for the suggestion.

I might be wrong here, but it seems there's an industry standard in terms of sizing. However, compared to the example of a Swedish multinational brand, they are out on their own, meaning that if one were to buy a bed frame from them the only mattresses that would fit would also have to be from their stock, and vice versa. Is this correct?

    gents

thank you for your advice. Much appreciated.

Slowuphill: were I more local to you I'd be popping in for a chat, but it's not very convenient.

I'll wait until my holidays are over, then it'll be a few wee bouncy-bouncy tests around town.

    cheers

I have never heard the word 'dobber' used as a sectarian insult, and I've lived here all my life!
In my experience it has always been used to liken someone to a penis, regardless of what team they choose to follow.

As for OP's question – although I grew up in the southside I'd echo coffeeking's suggestions for the north. The landscapes there offer more hint of the not-so-distant highlands.
South is alright, but you seek quietish, with gardens – Giffnock/Merrylee perhaps, Clarkston/Muirend maybe, Cathcart/King's Park even. Not sure about 'pubs' there, in the way that I understand English ones to be, but still.

I'm sure another STW user did some asking on here before making a move to Glasgow. Anyone recall who that was?
Don't know if you get a recon trip before you move, but I'm sure you'd get a warm welcome and a couple of volunteer tour guides.

    best of luck

    Dear God, man!

From a quick Google search, are you in Argentina?

More's the point, what goes on in Neuquen? It seems to be a confluence point for two rivers, creating a forked ribbon of fertility in a land of dust!

Frontier town indeed. I'm ever so slightly envious.

Och, what a shame. Poor lassie.
As has been said, it seems a good way to go, although perhaps it makes a case for neutral observers to be present at such occassions – purely from a Health & Safety perspective, of course.

Got an A4 Quattro (7 years old), and really appreciated the 4WD during some winters, especially the recent one.

Would agree about the rear having less space than one might hope, and it was fine for one child and associated paraphernalia on three hour/four hour trips to visit family, but if you have any more, you might prefer a bit more space.
Incidentally, my sis looked at an A6 for an improvement, but it offered little in the way of more space, and ended up with a Volvo V70 instead (two weans and a dug).
A mate has a Mondeo estate, and that's got a huge amount of room in the back.

Allroads are great looking cars, IMO, but dunno if they're worth the extra dosh for what you get.

Personally, speaking as a single man, I'd quite like to find a new lady friend who enjoyed cycling.

currently need a new bed and matress; fancy a new TV (flatscreen) and associated unit to sit it on (purely a space-saving exercise); a new PC for the house (and desk to sit it on); and pay off the P7 frame I just bought and the new bed I just bought from my daughter's room.

Not likely for a grand, but one can dream, eh?

That's a mixed bag of response thus far.

    Thanks for those.

    I'm getting this:

if anything, just keep it dry.

As for powdercoating, Coastkid, I think not. It's a six-year old P7 I was gonna sell, but then thought I'd keep up there (NE highlands) as it'll do away with getting the newer one on a rack and carting up every time. It's pretty flat on the peninsula, so I don't need a 'beast' for wee spins up to the lighthouse and back.

    Cheers guys

Never ridden a Soul, or any Cotic, so can't offer a balanced view. However, they do look very attractive.

I'm on my second P7, the latter one looking very like the initial pic on page 1 of this thread.

I must admit to not giving a hoot about weight.
It's designed to deal with the kind of riding I'll ever want to do, even with my technical know-not-how, and it looks the effin' business.

If it weren't for that damn Hope II hub on the rear, it'd be STEALTH bike, and I'd be Ninja supreme!

Hope you make the right choice

    Gear, in Gibson St, Glasgow.

It was a hot day, so I popped in just before closing time with a six-pack of cold beers to have a bit of a blether and catch up on P7 progress and to see some of the fixie custom builds.

A very busy shop, but you'll always get attention.

    Highly recommend it.

Back page sports headline from a number of years ago when a top-flight Scottish team were knocked out of a cup competition (again) by a lower league outfit, in this case Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
For what it's worth, I am a Celtic fan, and I did laugh at that headline. It was genius, of sorts.

I presume that's the nicht, and no' the morra?

I'm heading up Tain way tomorrow, and was gonna try to get a gentle evening ride in around the Port area, but I don't know it so well, especially from a cycling perspective!

If I've missed it, have a good one.

Get yersel away up there in the dead of night wi' a tin of bright paint and a big brush, and create a large 'cock'n'baws' icon, as elaborate as you have time for, with the head pointing right up his private lane!

    That'll teach him.

Apologies if the topic's been done already.
I rarely read newspapers, I ain't on here everyday, and I've only watched about 120 minutes of the tournament in total, inc. highlights.

However that noise really does grate – so irritating.
So, anyone blowing one around here is getting it right effing up 'em!
*EDIT* – much like the chap above

Failing that, earplugs are the way forward.

How about 'a crank of bikes'?
Maybe that'd be better for a collection of those that use 'em – a crank of riders.

    A ride of bikes?

    A stay of bikes?

    A mount of bikes?

    A straddle of bikes?

    I gotta log off now.
