If it’s an industrial wasteland (the implication that it’s full of eyesores) then perhaps these images provide some sort of relief. They certainly look like someone has put a lot of thought and effort into them.
They’re also, to me, more absorbing and engaging than, say, tags which suggest a territorial claim over the space, and by extension have a more sinister and threatening effect.

It’s a fine line though, isn’t it? Some tag work can appear to be very elaborate and considered, and therefore ‘arty’.

I would say that vandalism is more associated with destruction. These images you’ve posted are creative. Sure, they are ‘damaging’ the finish of the building, but if the buildings are rundown anyway, their fabric needs more attention than just a full coat of fresh paint, eh?

That said, though, I’m not so keen on the last two images, and if the ‘artists’ tried out their work on my gable-end, ….. grrrr

Smoke – thanks for that link.
I can see why you’d think the riding in NS is just “OK” when what you work in is so vast and varied.
If I ever cross that ocean again, and have access to a bike, I’ll try to get to one or the other.

    It’s a dilemma though.
East coast is closer and has donuts. West coast has quality bush (in all senses) and proper altitude.
    Hmmmm.

Just first Oasis album and one Blur single (song 2) – anything else in my collection rode in on the back of compilations given away on the covers of music mags.

How about a small painting that you may like the look of? Take a wee daunder around some local galleries or exhibitions – you’re bound to see something that appeals to you.

But wait, no offence intended because I don’t know you or your partner – you could always ask for a tasteful nude portrait of your partner if she’s keen. Have your own private gallery.
Just an honest suggestion. I hope you don’t find it over the mark.

    In a word, YES.
Although, the Chiles revelation has come as a bit of a disappointment.

Compromise, and go out with them to the first bar, make a point of getting the first round in and then make your polite departure once the glass is empty.

That way, you’ll have recognised his big night, contributed to everyone’s beer bank, maintained some control over your reputation and be free to spend time with the GF!

What more could you do to provide a solution?

That first green 5 – that’s it. Same colour exactly. I was gonna say I’ll sleep comfortably this evening, but then I saw her……that hussy in the neon green. She’s just trying too hard to be noticed. And you know what – it kinda works – nightmares instead.

    thanks for that though

    Damn, damn, damn!
Matt, I’m very disappointed right now. I’d love to contribute to your thread, I really would. However, I can’t for these reasons:
    a) I haven’t yet told my partner that I bought a new bike, so it is stored in a safe, neutral location.
    b) I haven’t yet taken a picture of my bike (due to storage conditions, it’s not used as regular as it should really be)
    c) Due to new forum setup, and my technological ignorance, I would not be sure just how to get any photos of mine transferred for viewing on this forum.

However, what I can tell you is this:- it sat in a shop window back in June, and as I passed the shop my eyes were drawn straight to it. I fell in love immediately. I felt like Garth from Wayne’s World when ‘foxy lady’ walked through the diner. I swore to myself that “One day, she will be mine. Oh Yes, she will be mine”
Fast fwd to new year’s eve, and I’m in the shop with a cash deposit ready to sign away a certain amount of my income every month for two years. The ex-demo model had been used, but certainly not abused. Her unique (for a Five I’m told) coat shimmered and glimmered as it did that first day we met.

My girl was away for a few days, so I brought the bike home and cared for her, fed her, washed her, and rode her twice – both times on a cold frosty day, under clear ice-blue skies. These conditions showed up her Apple-green covering like a dream, and the sparkly lacquer mesmerised all who saw her.

God-damn, I wanna show you the lot, and I mean everything. The gentle curve of her top-tube, the firmness of her bottom-bracket, even the rear-facing split in her seat-tube. Oooh, I am awful.

I tell you what – if you, or any others can advise me on the best way to take, store and then display pictures on this forum, you shall have a peek at perfection by this time on Tuesday. If the snow lies and the sun shines tomorrow, it will create the perfect canvas on which to expose her beauty.

Only ever had the one, and use it for the big things like car service/MOT, booking holiday flights etc. Nothing else.
Pay at least £100 a month back.
I’d rather not have one at all, but it can come in handy

Erm, I think I would too!

    Gratitudes for all the responses.

Mixed bag of opinions. In reality, who am I kidding? I don’t need a new car.

However, if the opportunity came along, I have to admit that …… yes, I would.

    Beer? For you?
If I go all the way down to London to buy a car, the least I can do is buy you a beer while I’m there. What’re you having?

    MikeT-23

Grumm – I’m not committing to buying anything yet. I take your point about the rarity of heavy snow in this country of ours.

Of all the 4x4s out there, I think it could be thought of as a 4×4 lite in comparison to some.

There are other factors influencing the thought process. Did you see the post about bikes in the back? That’s one.

Others not mentioned so far involve potential work commitments and practicality (space wise) for holidays at home instead of flying abroad.

Anyway, in this aspirational and materialistic society we live in, is it a crime to look at the shiny stuff and ask opinions on it?

All the current Qashqai owners can’t be wrong, and if they were rubbish they wouldn’t have made a +2 model to widen the range, IMO.

My soul is not mine to pay with any longer, and my firstborn….well, whoever wants her will have a fight on their hands – the missus can be a formidable adversary.

I remeber now about the paper ‘cards’, lightly dusted with what appears like relevant information.

    Cheers all the same.

I used to live there, namely Battlefield Gardens, Millbrae Crescent, then Eastwood Ave, and all had their appeals/drawbacks.
Parking’s a **** bind in all three, and the last location had the thrill of wondering if your car would be undamaged after a Friday/Saturday night when some random drunks would take great joy in performing some indiscriminate car-running or wing-mirror karate. If I’d had a high-power sniper-rifle at the time…..

That said though, the first two were quieter locations, and all three handy for the size-able Queen’s Park, which is a great space for letting the wean run around. A bit further away (but still close) you have Pollok Park – a chunk of countryside in the city. In fact, if you drive, you’re spoiled for parks (Maxwell, Rouken Glen, King’s).

I don’t know what you saw today, but after being in a top-floor for the duration of our daughter’s being (four-and-a-half-years and counting…) I’d recommend a ground or first-floor option, as all that stuff to carry becomes wearing after a short while.

Any other points you may want clarified, just ask again.
Hope you make a sound choice, and welcome to your new city when you do.

    BOOOOOOOOOO

Damn 4 year old daughter schmoozing her way into the bed means that promise I was on last night was well and truly broken!

I still can’t decide which I’d accept being without more – the mag, or a seeing to.
One of these things I can get at the LBS, but not t’other.

I would show mine – a gift from my grandfather – but I believe it’s still up my dad’s ass, hidden from the guards of the Vietnamese prison camp in which he is currently residing.

    Maybe next year, eh?

Aye, but it’s past office hours on a Friday…….have I the strength and patience to hold off until Monday?

Yeah. I’m off to watch ‘Son of Rambow’, drink a glass of wine, and, I think I’m on a promise tonight after booking our summer holiday flights, so that should keep me chilled until then.

So is babelfish complete babble then?
I may need to seek out a more professional looking site if that’s the case.
    I don’t want my neighbours thinking I talk a lot of sh1te.

Andym – you’re quite right. I didn’t want to generalise, but subsequent research has informed me that it is, indeed, Arabic. Forgive me.

I don’t half talk a lot of sh1te though, eh?
