Leaving a job after 13 years in a final salary pension scheme, don't transfer the money into a personal pension scheme.

TandemJeremy – OK your route is shorter but it doesn't have the same scenery.

MikeT – you could do over two days as a return trip. This would save the logistics of getting to both ends of the route. We had a back-up driver who was happy to spend the day tootling around. If you are really fit and go for it, it could conceivably be done both ways in one long day.

From Bothie Bikes you can ride around Loch An Eilein then head off through Rothiemurchus past Picadilly to Loch Morlich then up to Badaguish Outdoor Centre towards An Sluggan and there is a lot of single track behind the Centre. Some is quite technical and steep. Then return the same way. Should take a couple of hours depending how much time you spend at Badaguish. Good maps from Bothie bikes.

In my browser, Firefox on Linux, the #main content is centred and is pushing the #rightcol down. Can’t see from the css, using Firebug, what might be causing this as it appears you want the #main to float left and the #rightcol to float right – appears to be caused by the ‘Open Days’ link in the nav bar above it which drops down probably due to the widths of the three list elements.. Also the containing div, #content?, does not extend down to include the floated #main and #rightcol divs.

Don’t have time to check further.

I’ve wanted to do a ride from Ullapool to Bonar Bridge (about 60km and fairly remote) but various things transpired against it. I’m planning to do it this year and the wife has decided she’ll do it as well to raise money for a hospital charity. She hasn’t ridden off road before or ridden at all for some years, hasn’t done anything strenuous for a few years so is overweight and unfit. She has announced that I have to get her fit to do it. Not sure where to start.

Percol Espresso – first choice but difficult to find in supermarkets, when we find it buy several jars.

Normally drink fresh brewed – Percol Fairtrade Espresso from choice but again difficult to find. Otherwise something fairtrade and strength 5.

Ullapool to Bonar Bridge. About 60km.with last 15km on tarmac. Possibly anything from 5 to 9 hours but should be doable in a day. There was a ride report in MBR June 2004. Hoping to ride this in June.

Probably wasting your time, in my experience. My wife works for the council already, in a relief position so no guaranteed hours. When ever she applies for a permanent position, which has to be advertised in-house and in the newspapers, she finds that there is already somebody in place who is in line for the job, or is being redeployed from another department or something similar. The job has to be advertised and a certain number of people interviewed to comply with their regulations. Usually find the person appointed then has little idea of the job and she has actually ended up helping them to do the job she wasn’t considered suitable for.
