I’ve got a nest on a greenstar 28cdi which works fine but just after we had the nest fitted bosch released their own smart control which has the ability to vary the power output depending on demand/external temp/difference in current and requested temp etc.
With Nest (and all other non bosch controllers) the boiler operates at 100% power when on.
I think the price was comparable to nest as well.

Saying that, in answer to your question, nest replaces the other programmers and controls so you just need the boiler.

I’ve got several raspberry pis running picoreplayer pretending to be a squeezebox system, can be set up as a server or just a player and will serve to multiple players over the network. Using the squeezer app on android to control it all.
I’ve bought a seperate dac board for the pi connected to the main hifi but the standard output is fine for the kitchen/garage/kids rooms etc.
Under £100 for a couple of pi’s usb hard drive and basic boxes etc.

I’ve just bought a DeLonghi bean to cup as mrs MikeG didn’t get on with our Gaggia classic and just wanted to press a button and get coffee.
So far I’m quite impressed with it, the coffee isn’t as good as the best shots from the Gaggia but it’s consistently above average and I can get the kids to make me coffee!
[stealth ad] I will have to sell the Gaggia, grinder and all the other paraphernalia as there isn’t room in the kitchen for both machines now

Do you hold the property as joint tenants or tenants in common?
If you are joint tenants then as gonefishing says it would be hard to argue she isn’t entitled to half the value of the house, if you are tenants in common arguing a non equal split in the beneficial estate based on contribution should be easier.
If joint tenants consider ‘severing the joint tenancy’ asap.

I’ve just bought one of these, hopefully it will work but it’s cheap enough to take a punt on anyway.

Please update with how they perform slimjim, I managed to get a bluto for £200 off amazon following a psa a couple of months ago. On the back of that bargain I’ve bought a dune and spent a silly amount of money upgrading it but I haven’t felt the need to fit the blutos yet.

easiest way if the freeholders/management company agree it’s your land is to get them to transfer that part to you, simple form to complete, no waiting* for surveys or notices once the application gets processed. Land registry fee will be £20 (or £40 if your sols don’t submit the application electronically) no idea what a conveyancer will charge to do their bit but I doubt it will be horrendous.

Unless you can get a statement of truth from the previous owners you can’t claim adverse possession as the limitation period is 12 years continual use.

*bit of a backlog currently so applications are taking a while to get processed

This[/url] might do the job assuming the light has a similar flat area on the bottom as most of the other common lights and they will ship to england.

If you know anyone with a 3d printer then this looks like it would also work.

Is there enough gas in a 16g cartridge to pop the beads?

I just carry a topeak frame pump and spare tube, takes a long long time to get to 8psi though

I may as well give them a try, I’ll report back once they’re here.

Has anyone fitted minion fbf and fbr tyres to a dune?

I thought I’d seen something about them earlier in the thread but can’t find it now, I’m sure the front will fit fine and I think northwind is running a 4.8 JJ at the rear so it should be ok but I don’t really want to spend that much and possibly have trouble returning one if theres no clearance once fitted.

I’d go for something older from Jones, Singer or Brother – my mum has had one very similar to this since the early 70’s and it’s made curtains, sheepskin and leather coats, repaired tents and rucksacks and made me look a fool in slightly dodgy hand made clothes all through primary school without missing a beat.

As a contrast I broke mrs MikeG’s £130 modern singer thing modifying the sides of a pop up gazebo – completely stripped the plastic gears sewing velcro tabs onto about 3 layers of moderate thickness nylon.

So we’re all agreed…none of us really exist and all this mountain biking chat is a figment of our imaginations.

Based on how little I’ve ridden over the last few years I’m not sure I qualify as a cyclist anymore

I’d be up for some slow bimbling round on a fatbike as well, can do evenings or weekends with enough notice to get a pass.
I’m in Newbold Verdon and finding some new riding nearby would be great.

I got one on an amazon deal a few weeks ago, tbh it’s not very good – unless you have a fan blowing quite hard the filament takes so long to cool that it’s sagged out of shape before it hardens; don’t believe any of the videos where people make a perfect cube or draw a bridge, I reckon you’d need an air conditioner on full chat blowing over your hands to cool that quickly.

One thing that does work quite well is to draw the faces of your structure on greaseproof paper then assemble the sides into a 3d shape.

The end does get hot but mine is well insulated and unless you touch the ceramic tip only gets warm to the touch.

edit: it was one of these but I only paid £10 for it, I wouldn’t want to spend £35 on one

Anyone want to buy a Dave Yeats Diablo frame with a seized seat post?

    What size?

I took mine to cannock a couple of weeks ago and had a great time, it felt slower in places but an easy lap of follow the dog was only a couple of mins slower than my average on an Anthem and much more fun, in fact I’ve not ridden my anthem since getting the dune.

    Definitely no regrets here :)

We had one of these as the family car when I was about 13, I eventually learnt to drive in it.

I had a Vauxhall Nova the same colour as sundayjumpers carlton up there as my first car as well.

possibly explains why I don’t mind brown bar tape…..

I think I might still have a spare pair of Islabike 24″ wheels in the garage which would be fitted with small block 8s and a 8 or possibly 9 speed cassette, forgot to include them when I sold the bike. Only issue might be the drop on the brakes not having enough adjustment to get the pads on the rims.
Let me know if you’d like me to have a rummage tomorrow :)

I’ve got a kaffenback fitted with one of these which I’m about to remove as my knee is now fixed and I no longer need the assist.
I only did about 100 miles on it in the end and the battery has only had 3 or 4 cycles.
Email in profile if interested :)

    Thought about a recumbent trike?
No problems with weight bearing on the upper body or balance when you stop.
I’ve one you’d be welcome to borrow for a bit to see if it would work.

At 67 I’d be looking at something with a step through frame, he might be fine getting on and off now but when I worked in a bike shop several of our older customers found the limiting factor to keeping riding was getting on and off the bike.

I’ve got a mini fabrikator printer and quite a few colours of filament, only downside is print volume is only 80x80x80mm but if cyclohappy can design something with pieces small enough I’d be happy to print it for you.

If you’ve not taken the hint yet HAVE THE SEDATIVES

I’ve had a variety of cameras inserted from below due to ulcerative colitis and other than being recommended I have the sedation for the most recent as it was likely to take a while I’d have no problem without.

I stupidly agreed to an upper GI just with the spray as the consultant said it would only take 10mins. That was a mistake, the feeling of the tube in your throat is undescribably awful and the 10mins felt like several hours. When it was over the nurse said she could tell I hadn’t enjoyed it as I’d cracked the plastic mouth guard biting down on it.
If I ever have to have another I’ll be asking for a general!

I stuck an oxygen bikes kit on my kaffenback a couple of years ago after a second lot of knee surgery, around £500 when on offer and fitted in a couple of hours. I get just over 30 miles from a charge riding at an indicated 20mph which is plenty for my 11 mile each way commute.
If the battery does run out on a longer ride it’s not too much worse to ride unassisted, just a fair bit slower!

If you are going to buy a car then I’d be looking at a ‘bangernomics’ £400-£500 car with as much mot as you can. You will probably get most of the purchase price back selling it on with 4 months less mot.
When we were looking for a cheap run around recently there were loads of Suzuki wagon R’s and Fiat Seicentos with 10-12 months mot under £600 they would be reliable and (relatively) cheap to insure.

My experience echos those above – had 5 bikes stolen a couple of years ago, insured with M&S, wheelies tried to tell me a scott scale was an equivalent to a 2004 Kona Explosif as ‘only old and cheap bikes are made from steel’ and wanted to replace a 531 road bike that had ultegra/105 with a bottom of the range giant defy with shimano 2300 bits.
When I complained my claim was referred to their ‘custom specialist team’ who initially appeared helpful but kept specing deore level replacements to xt/xtr equipped bikes, when questioned they said they had to take account of ‘natural progression’ and ‘filter down of technology’ and my new for old policy didn’t mean I could have the same groupset.
M&S were great though, listened to the recordings of the phone calls, apologised for the poor service and settled the claim for more than I was expecting.
