Quick tip for using a vacuum bleeder. Take each nipple out, clean the threads well then wrap one turn of ptfe tape round the threads pulling it really tight as you do, you must stay clear of the tapered end though.
If the threads are too tight to take the tape a big blob of coppaslip round the end of the nipple works nearly as well.

you will need to check the deeds of the freehold to see if they specify who is responsible, if yours don't say then you'll need to see the neighbouring ones, easy if the properties are registered potentially tricky if not.

I have wide feet and can't wear Merrells anymore, about 5/6 years ago they were a great fit, I'm a 9 1/2 and a 10 was perfect with a thick pair of socks.
I tried just about the whole range on this summer and even with really thin socks a 10 pinched my toes but pulled off at the heel.
It's not just Merrell that have gone narrow. I tried North face and Berghaus as well and they were all tight. I've ended up with a pair of Brashers which are better but not super loose.
Annoyingly the really cheap Karrimor's chav sports sell fit well but are awful quality.

M&S, cover any single item to £4k, get premier cover and it's also covered against accidental damage :)

Can't really see very well in th photos, but is that a deep cable rub groove on the last but one photo?

either a very deep cable rub, or quite a light nick from a big angle grinder, the kind you might get if you were, for example, trying to get through a bit of hard material quickly and weren't quite focusing all your attention on the job in hand?

You need to dig past the crap and down to the gold

It has amazed me what's in the boxes!

The really good bits are probably stashed there so one of the staff can come and liberate them later, often given a bit of cosmetic damage so they don't look new or partially dismantled so they can be recovered in 2 trips.
I spent a over 10 years working in car/bike accessory shops and Halfrauds and have either sacked or seen sacked several people for doing this.

On the other hand I do have 2 really nice hardwood steamer chairs that were about to be skipped by the Homebase that was next to the Halfords I used to work in, apparently someone spent over £600 on hardwood chairs and a table, then discovered that one of the chairs had a softwood back so took the whole lot back and demanded a refund, he was given one and their policy at the time was to skip returns.

£50 reserve perhaps? If you bid over the reserve price the bid jumps from whatever it was to the reserve.

    Good luck!!

For our first I was given a set of what looked like childrens safety scissors to cut the cord, there was no way they were going to do it. After about 10 attempts the midwife huffed, gave me a 'bloody men' look and asked if I would like her to do it, I gave her them back and watched while she also failed to cut it! She wasn't impressed when I offered her my leatherman.

I spent rather too long working for Halfords when I was younger and saw way too many badly fitted racks. There's nothing wrong with most racks, although a couple of the really cheap ones are shocking, the problem is that a lot of modern cars can't take them safely. The bottom straps are the important ones, they stop the rack bouncing up and off the car, and should be fitted as low as possible ideally to the bottom of the bumper. This is difficult if not impossible on most plastic ones so the straps get put round the bottom of the tailgate which makes them at the wrong angle, then they aren't tightened again after the bikes are on.
We used to see 3 or 4 a year that fell off.

I have been unable to walk for the last 2 years due to a protruding disk in my back. I can still only walk every two days and am in great pain and very tired. I am not a drug addict so do not take pain killers

He’s of the opinion I should work for free not bother to pay my bills or survive

The reason for the extra amount in price is the 4 to 5 hours work it takes to find the frames service check and tune them then list them and pay the ebay / paypal fee,s and the idiot taxes the government slap on top, more work!

I think we should give him a break, being unable to walk and I'm guessing not being in full time employment he's chosen to set up a business and spend his time earning a good enough living on ebay to buy a sports car without relying on the benefit system…..

must be hard stripping frames, pulling bearings, and spraying them while sitting.

What about an Octavia Tdi then? I've recently bought an 03 elegance (climate, 16" alloys etc) with 74k for under £4k, happily sits on a private road  at 90 and has averaged 52mpg over the 6000 miles I've done in it. Overtakes nicely being a TDi and is easily chippable to 150ish bhp.

Never accept paypal for anything that is collected. The only proof of delivery paypal accept is from a proper courier company or royal fail, it doesn't matter if the buyer signs a receipt or you take a photo of them with your item. If they raise a item not received claim and you can't provide acceptable (to paypal) proof of delivery they will side with the buyer and refund them, they will still do this even if the buyer has left positive feedback.

if he pays with paypal DONT let him collect, even if you video him collecting it if he says he's not received it paypal will side with him. The only proof of delivery they accept is from the post office or courier, and no proof of delivery means they will refund the buyer and take the money from you.

It has been serviced since and we've had no actual problems with it.

Does it still run without major powerloss/noise/smoke?

Or take the £1350 from webuyanycar.com (carcraft) for a non-runner.

Just not sure why if you've had no problems you'd need to take a non runner price.

Assuming it still drives and you've got enough money to buy something from a dealer, thats what I'd do – they will give you a part ex price based on book value, they may walk round it to check for body damage but I doubt they would drive it.

If it's not running then get the cheapest backstreet exchange engine you can then visit a dealer and part ex it.

serviceable normally only means not dismantled and with no big holes in the side, certainly when I used to sell vege engines that was their only criteria for refunding the surcharge.

Doesn't seem too bad, Similar ages and drivers on a 2l Alfa 156 last year was £210 in Leicestershire, that was £15 cheaper with the missus on a provisional than with me on my own!

Wait till shes passed her test though……..my insurance wanted another £500 when I told them, used confused and got fully comp with the PO for both of us for £300.

I've got a harmony one and as said above it is a really good remote but is let down horribly by the software, if you're not connected to the net you can't program it, and have to use logitech's button assignments.
The most annoying thing is that it is designed to do 'actions' it remembers what state everything is in so you watch tv, or listen to music and the remote turns on your devices and sets the inputs etc, this works ok as long as you never touch a button when the remotes not pointing at your stuff, this would probably be ok in a dedicated cinema room but it's very frustrating in a living room with two small children grabbing it.

I had this with my media center pc the other week with a 1TB drive, in the end I stuck another (small cos it was all I had kicking around) disk in, installed windows, put the original one back in and copied off the files I needed, formatted and reinstalled vista on the 1TB drive and it's all been working fine since. I think it might have been heat induced as the media center is in a small case under the tv and the fans/heatsinks and ventilation holes were all blocked with dust.

The info to get into these locks has been easily googleable for a couple of years, last summer my sister in law snapped the key off in her porch door and phoned me for help. Less than 5 mins of searching how to drill the lock and it took me about 5 seconds to remove the lock.

I was shocked at how easy it was both to find out how and to actually get into the door. Luckily I'm poor and have wood doors with proper mortice locks!

We've got a Bosch slimline, had it just over a year and had the engineers out to it four times now – 2 new pumps, several seals and the control module.

Bosch customer services are good though, engineer has been out within 48 hours each time.

As long as you paid following the links through ebay to paypal and the receipt from paypal matches the user name from ebay I think you will be ok.

Sounds like the kind of speculative scam where the scammer hopes to get to you before you pay the genuine seller. The idea being that you follow the ‘new’ payment instructions and the scammer disapears into the distance.

I’d still phone ebay/paypal to report it and check with the seller that he’s received the money.

I’d also use a different email address for paypal etc that isn’t ‘your user name’@wherever.com then you won’t see these speculative scams.

    Good Luck

I’ve had a sealey one for several years now, bought it when I rounded the sump plug on the wifes fiat.
Absolutely fantastic, I used it to suck the oil out of my car then took out the drain plug, no oil left at all.
Mine also has an attachment to bleed brakes.
Mine was £70ish and I’d definately buy another.

Is it me or is there no rear brake?

As said above, looks like a horrible cheap POS.

I’d not pay and take the neutral feedback.

I think paypal is ok for selling stuff you’re posting, as long as you get proof of delivery your (sort of) covered.

I recently sold a couple of big items as collection only, stated cash on collection only and had the auctions cancelled for not offering paypal. The problem is that even if you get a signed receipt or photos of the buyer collecting the items if they make a claim unless you’ve used one of their recognised delivery methods they will find in the buyers favour. There is no way on earth that that is fair.

I’ve had one for about a year now and I’m quite pleased with it, I’ve never used the on demand bit though as my broadband isn’t quite fast enough for it. I think you need a minimum of 2.5k and I only get 1.8 – 2 (I used to get nearer 3k until BT ‘upgraded’ some of the wiring in the village but thats another story)

Picture quality through scart is pretty poor, HDMI is much better, the internal scaler is really rather good.

The one thing that really annoys though is that BT will update the firmware automatically and you can’t opt out. The last one added a 5min buffer to the end of recordings which is a great idea but the stupid thing wont ignore it if you’re recording two programmes one after the other on one channel and something on another channel, instead of doing what all other PVR’s do and record the two consecutive programmes without the buffer on the first one the Vision box gives a recording conflict and you have to delve into the record settings to set it to finish on time.

Apparently it’s easy to change the 160gb disk for a larger one and I’m going to do this soon.

If you’ve not got $ky or Virgin cable and you’ve got BT Broadband I’d get one, but don’t pay extra for any of the veiwing packs their not worth it IMO

Drac, I think you’ve got a coin in your left hand.

BTW I queried the boy/girl girl/boy thing on page one, I understood the reason I was wrong before the end of the page.

    MikeG

If we only knew that she had 2 children, we’d have the following possibilities:

    Boy/Girl
    Boy/Boy
    Girl/Boy
    Girl/Girl

As we know that at least one is a girl, it rules out the Boy/Boy scenario.
Of the scenarios we have left, two involve one boy, and one girl. Resulting in a chance of 2 thirds.

Surely in this situation Boy/Girl is the same as Girl/Boy? The question doesn’t place any importance on the order of the children so if ‘at least one is a girl’ the only possibility for the other child is to be either a boy or a girl. We know this is a 50/50 chance.

Although I last did maths in anger over 10 years ago and I’m quite hungover this morning so I might be spouting rubbish.
