6mm offset is non-boost and will bring your chainline closer to the BB. I use a non boost chainring on my boost hub as it gives a better chainline and shift.

You might want to make sure you have enough tire clearance if you are bringing your chain closer to the tire.

Great event. Sign on wasn’t too bad last year.

Great drifty trails if it’s dry.

1.8 – 1.5 – 1.8 and 110kg will make the wheel flex under hard load so I’d suggest a heavier guage spoke, like a Sapim race, or perhaps a diet.

If they are carbon rims you can get away with Sapim Lazers. The thin guage provides a little compliance in the wheel. Been running this setup for over 3 years now with yearly trips to the alps. Have broke 2 spokes in total.

I’d up them to d-lights if they are alu rims, Race if you are heavy and ride hard.

Super fun bike and very capable, especially with a 150mm fork. Perfect for UK riding but felt a little out of its dept in the Alps (non bike park riding).

Yeah, I’m thinking guide RE’s and swap out the lever with guide RSC’s that I have.

Just back from verbier. Terrain is mainly steep and loose so front braking is reduced meaning the rear is constantly being dragged.

My guides struggled. I did run them with shimano rotors last year and they were miles better. Centerline rotor is pants.

All of the guides were running saints with 203’s all round.

why is Assad killing his own people?

No evidence it was him. Anyone wonder why Russia is involved in all of this?

GO google Qatar, Turkey gas pipeline.

Ibis Ripley LS with a 130 fork would also be on my list.

I had an E29 for two years, had it in the alps for a few weeks and raced Scottish enduro on it and a round of the EWS. Amazingly capable bike but a bit meh unless pushing on hard.

Demo’d the hightower and found it way more response over the E29. Just more accurate in terms of where I wanted it to go. I think the Enduro might need a heavier ride to get the best out of it. I’m 75kg kitted out.

Anyway, I sold the enduro and now have the hightower. Love it. Very playful and poppy but still fast as ****.

FWIW, I had a demo (albeit only an hour and half) of a Hightower 29 and came away disappointed.

I think if you don’t ride all that hard/fast, it might seam a bit dull. I’d recommend the 5010 as an alternative.

I had a blur xc quite a few years ago and now have a v2 5010.

If I don’t smile out riding the 5010 then there’s something wrong with me. It’s just really good fun.

Super direct and eager like a little puppy. Had it in the alps (with fork at 150mm) and it was great on all but hitting rock gardens too fast.

Forks back down to 140 for the uk as I like the way it rails corners being so low :)

If you’re not planning doing any enduro racing on gnarly courses then I’d say it the perfect bike for any UK riding.

Yeah, my wife an I got an email saying a pic had been tagged. Sneaky way to get people to have a look at your new site revamp (downhiller). ;)

Nope, worked fine last year for me. Min 180 rotor on the rear and organic/semi metal pads or you’ll cook the rotor.

Have a 5010 V2 with a 150mm fork on it and it’s such a laugh and surprisingly capable, especially on steep stuff.

I’ve even being racing some enduros on it.

My wife rides small 29 rocky mountain element and rips on it. No issues with the clown wheels for her.

You’ll see more of them winning at the ews, like the last round. Then people will start buying them to pretend they are enduroists.

But the trail surface (which was quite new) was far rougher than you’d expect for a trail of that nature

You want smooth, go for a road ride FFS.

Ae is one of my locals and I really like the red loop, yeah it’s getting a bit cut up here and there, but hey, ideal for peeps and their enduro mince tanks.

Unlcuky with the punctures. A bit harsh blaming the trail center tho.

Have a search for ‘ketogenic diet’. It basically focuses on adapting your body to burn fat as its primary fuel instead of carbohydrate/glycogen. Basically, how man was designed to be, eating fatty meat as a caveman instead of ground up indigestible grains (wheat) and processed sugar.

It would also allow you to eat loads of peanut butter too :)

I have uberbike sintered on my bike. Great modulation and last well in the alps.

I have an E29 as an enduro race bike and it’s great when being, well, raced. A bit dull for just normal riding I feel. Had it in the alps for two weeks and it was mega capable and fine for all day riding. Had more fun the year before -40mm travel.

A stumpy 29er would be my call for a do-it-all bike if you are set on spesh.

Have E29 for enduro racing and had it away in the alps last year. Really impressive bike when pushing hard but felt like it was doing too much, if that makes any sense. Great for going fast but all that travel kinda removed the sense of mountain biking for me (I’ve come from hardtails in the 90’s!).

Now have a 5010 and love it. It takes more riding/line picking and can bite back pretty hard if you are riding poorly. Having to learn to ride a bike a little. Surprisingly capable bike even with less travel as geo is pretty aggressive.

Will be taking the 5010 to the alps this year as it’s more fun.

Looks lovely but a 1300g front tyre?

All the inertia of a fatty without the comedy levels of grip?

I’m not sure where they got 1300grms from. States as 1005grms on the maxxis web site and I have one on my enduro 29er, weight in at 1050grms on my scales, not light but you don’t notice a massive difference in inertia over a magic mary.

The grip levels are insane BTW, and digs into mud really well.

I had a rock razor in the alps. Very fast, cornered well, zero braking.

Looking to try an aggressor when they appear in the uk. Look like they will roll well.

Would have had one if they did a carbon one (sure it’s on it’s way). Went for 5010 instead, similar idea. Had big travel rigs. These mid travel/agressive geo trail bikes (mojo 3, 5010, scout) are more focused on fun rather than capability/smash through stuffability. Their great geo makes up for a lot.

Best thing you can do is demo one.

Magic Mary’s really, I was about to take mine off as they aren’t amazing on loose over hard (trail centre) Was going to swap for a DHR on the front.

I’ve opted to do all of the PMBA series as opposed to the Scottish Enduro Series this year. The SES was feeling a bit too serious and after doing a PMBA at Kirri, I really like the format.

For me, it’s better to practice on the same day. I tend to forget everything overnight as I’m old.

Like everyone else has said, just don’t get worked up about it and have a laugh.

Have you tried taking the forks off and clamping them into a vice then twisting them. That would eliminate other possibilities outwith the forks like your carbon frame de-laminating internally…………….;)

The marked trails at Kirri are great, off-piste is even better :)

I demo’d one back to back with a Ripley on the same rooty/muddy course.

Was good but slower, less grippy and less fun than the Ripley.
