Just as aside, I have 2 kitesurfing kites I’m thinking about selling.
A 12m airush flow and 16m north Vegas, quite old models but in good condition.

Where would the best place to advertise these? What’s the kitesurfing equivalent of STW?

    Cheers.

Mrs Doubleu has a new job in Sydney. NHS has trained her but no suitable consultant jobs available in her specialty.

I’m a GP and will be working too when I get all my paperwork sorted. Mine “might” have been delayed meaning I get the end of summer on the beach!

No wonder the NHS is going to the dogs, etc. I’m following the occasional Australia thread with interest.

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Just wanted to “big up” Ian at The Bike Place.

He helped out our recent bike tour brilliantly. We went from coast to Bellingham on Day 1 on road/cx bikes. He organised some bag portering from Bellingham and then hired us mountain bikes when we arrived at Kielder, before coming over to Newcastleton later on in the day after shutting up shop for he day to bring us our road bikes & bags and pick up his mountain bikes. Not the biggest set-up but fair prices and plenty of enthusiasm.

He helped me manage to get some dyed-in-the-wool roadies grinning from ear to ear on mountain bikes before we headed off to Hartside and C2C home to the North-East.

Thanks for the advice previously everyone.

Everywhere we stayed on the trip was v good too:
The Cheviot in Bellingham- great food both evening and brekkie, accommodation improving.
The Grapes in Newcastleton- cheap but very cheerful, again great evening meal.
Alston House Hotel in Alston- great rooms and good beer and grub.

    Shout out too for http://www.northpenninecycles.co.uk/shop-bicycle-store
who saved my ride with an eggbeater rebuild kit in the middle of the pennines, who’d have thought?

I’ve been trying to get 25km commute in, but its a bit of a hassle as I need the car during the day at work (so end up having to leave it at work overnight which always makes me a bit nervous).

Done a couple of 100k rides and one was N Yorks Moors including Carlton Bank- how does that compare to the Lakeland passes?

I’m starting to get the fear- the guy I’m (supposed to be) riding it with has done twice the mileage, I’ve done and already ridden all the passes this year 🙁

And the minidoubleus have given me their viral lurgy.

Timing is now thought to be overrated. The “stress” of waiting hoping and acting on ovulation kits is thought to be counter productive. This is kind of why when people get referred it quite often just happens. They “relax” on some level because it’s “out of their hands.” The recommendation is regular sex ie every other day.

Folic acid for her, boxers for you, off the booze and fags for both of you. No extremes of weight for either of you or high exercise levels for her (but if she is overweight crash dieting is counter productive when actively trying to conceive). Ensure good diet and/or use a multivitamin. Give yourselves the best chance.

Just to reiterate: it’s her age that is the limiting factor here. It has the biggest effect on likelihood of conception to begin with. And it is also the fact that may limit access to NHS (free) services. So I really would recommend just getting on with it and booking an appointment with the GP. Book one each and go together if you use the same GP?

    GP ASAP.

Gateway to treatment. It might happen whilst you’re waiting. It sometimes does but after trying for 6 months at your ages you’ll be fast tracked in view of maternal age.

Yes it was the longer cyclone I did. Just got to lose a bit of ballast then for them Lakes hills then…

Still haven’t had any paperwork through today. Anyone else heard anything?

Yet another first timer here without the “get out of jail free” email 🙂

I done the Northern Rock / Virgin Cyclone a few times, how does it compare to that? What are the surfaces like? Parts of the cyclone last year were officially pisspoor and I was thinking I’d’ve been better on the cross bike.

Mt Keen return route… or better still once you get to the top you’ll want to go off the other side – get Mrs FOG to pick you up.

I’m glad they are still going as that was the shop that was in the village ages ago before the FC “priced them out” and gave “the franchise” to Purple Mountain who had had nothing to do with Kielder previously.

I’ll give them a bell and see what the situation is. Cheers.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve never got to sell decent bikes before, I do upgrade almost as often as I hear Hora does 😉 but this usually because they’ve been nicked.

Sadly trail rat and hora my thinly veiled advert is not working yet, so I suppose I’d better take some photos before I get flamed for not having any. And then put a proper advert in the proper place?

H1ghland3r you situation sounds similar to ours. We have a fairly basic boiler as far as I can see, with timer and dials / thermostats for hot water and radiators on the front on the boiler itself (in the cupboard with no thermostat elsewhere in the house).

This does appeal. Was yours a fairly simple boiler that got “upgraded” by having this system fitted?

And of course do you wear a cycle helmet or are you worried it will injure your neck?

Sausages mash n peas last night for me and Jeff.

Jeff is our Bernese Mountain Dog. Bonfire night is his birthday (5 yesterday) – is he scared of fireworks? No he is not, he’s wondering when the sausages are going to arrive.

You should definitely get some lions in with this deal, as well as your 15%. It is Africa.

Your sweetheart can surely wangle a few lions from Senegal to bring over with her when she comes. Talking ones, mind.

Worked fine for me in the past. But wheever I’ve booked my bike on I’ve always done it at the station and got 2 tickets for the bike. One that I kept and one that the guard put btwn the spokes to identify the bike.

I did coast and castle last year. Loved it. South to North defo the way to go. We had overnights at Bamburgh and Melrose – that worked well.

“Kill them with kindness” is my mantra. Try to be super-cheerful.

If they’re good’uns, you’ll only get positive results.

If they’re bad’uns, it will boil their piss that not only are you riding a bike, looking like you’re enjoying it, but are also a thoroughly pleasant person. You never know, it might send their blood pressure so high their head will explode 😉 “Great day to be out in the hills, me on my bike, you with your Leki sticks and map round your neck!”

I have an admission: I have an extender lead. I also have 55kg of Bernese Mountain Dog who likes to have a good sniff around. I like to know he isn’t just going to knock over toddlers by turning round and stand on their faces or wag them to death with extreme happiness. Or harass the local dog training class. Or chase police horses. I like to think I’m trail aware though 😉

It may be full-on elbows-out speed-walking for all I know / care. We’d have to adjust the sums in that case but I like your thinking.
