When on holiday in peaky we met a couple who were both in their 60’s who were on E bikes. They really loved them, they had ridden around Ladybower and were buzzing. I was well impressed and decided right there that when the time comes that me or the mrs can no longer pedal as well as we can now I won’t hesitate.

MIke – no weight loss with tubeless – sealant is the same weight as the tubes I use.

I cant be having that I thought to myself you must be putting the whole bottle in so I have just weighed both.
    275 g for a 27.5 tube
    80 g for 100ml of orange seal

It’s not about getting or not getting punctures the self sealing quality of latex is just an added bonus. It is about weight and rolling resistance and if you can’t notice a difference then tubeless is not for you. Personally I find it a vast improvement.

I’ll go tubeless when it works properly, ta.

It definitely does work properly if installed properly. Clean your rims properly first, use a good tape etc

,..I can’t be arsed with faff.

    It’s no faff at all.
I don’t get this running at to low pressure argument either. I run 30psi rear and 27psi front which is quite normal I feel. Maybe there is a bit of confusion between tubeless and plus tyres.

I recently asked this very question as I was worried about the reliability of the Inline.

[/quote] Stay away from it if your running 160mm travel on a vpp or dw link bike

I have an Inline on a bike that is 160 travel and has VPP. Two years later I am still waiting for the inevitable failure. Which has lead me to the decision that when I can do with out my bike for a week I’m going to get the Inline serviced and stick with it.

As above. Tilers charge by the meter, unless your job has not enough meterage to earn a days money. £170 sounds reasonable.

Yes weren’t they in the news recently for announcing massive expansion to their existing plant and plans for a new one.

Second for Adidas Kanadia. They are reasonably priced and can still be used as normal trainers for the rest of the year. To recomend spikes at that age is a joke as they will outgrow them before they get used in Anger.

She is 5’4″ with a 28″ inside leg. She could probably got a medium as the Remedy has quite a short reach, but she prefered the shorter wheel base.

Simple. Drill your holes at 2mm. Use a nice new bit. Do not apply to much pressure as this is a cause of bits snapping, let the drill do the work. Then swap the supplied screws for self tapping screws.

An electrically assisted pedal cycle should not be capable of more than 15.5mph ( without peddling) and is classed as a bicycle and can be used as such.
If it does not meet this requirement it must be registered, insured and the rider must have a licence and wear a helmet. It can only be used on the highway.
So if it is doing 30mph then the police should be interested as it is being used for an illegal purpose. They would soon be there if it were the local lads riding their mopeds up and down.

    Hi mate
I have used Parcel Force many times. As long as the box is under 1.5m
It stays within the large parcel category. The boxes I get from my LBS are usually 1.4m so I imagine that is standard.
You can drop it at your local post office as well, Instead of waiting in for a courier to collect or finding a depot on an industrial estate.
Also I find it strange that Yodel sponsor the Tour of Britain but don’t ship bike boxes.
P.S. The weight limit is 30kg so no worries there. And if the recipient is not at home they can collect it from their local PO rather than the alternative.

The workshop behind us repaints carbon race cars. I have had them paint a bike for me with wonderful results. This is what they guys told me.
” Carbon requires a special primer but as it has already been painted once all you need to do is rub it down to key it up for a fresh coat.”
“Don’t strip it. That will F*!k it.”
P.S. They use water based paints these days.

    That looks really good.

.(I agree with Matt OaA- box those rad. pipes.)

I have to agree that bare copper pipes are not a good look, but it is
not as bad as that nasty Double socket in the end of you island.
If you lacquer the copper with a clear matt they will retain their look whereas if you leave them they will tarnish and go brown or worst ways green.

If you don’t own it and the owner is not likely to pay or contribute then something like this is the way forward.
” A similar road by me was done in crushed road scrapings and then rollered down. Cost about £300 for a 100m run and has been holding out really well even in the rain and frost. ”

My experience of engine remaps are not particularly great – not mine personally but people I know. Granted i’m talking performance cars probably pushed to the max. for glory rolling road runs in the pursuit of pub bragging rights. Seen my fair share of exploding turbo’s, con rods poking out of engine casings and other similarly expensive failures when people have just pushed things too far.

You can have an economy remap. Still a massive improvement.

    mikedabear

Yeah as others have said. The best way is to have a rolling road remap. Then the improvement is right across the rev range. This will improve fuel economy, smoothness in acceleration, Torque and top speed.

I think Trail Rat is right about a warranted used engine.
Think about what I said in my earlier post. If the timing belt has gone on a vehicle of this age it is a sure sign of poor servicing. This is also a pointer to the assumption it hasn’t been looked after.
Diesel engines need to be properly looked after. If it hasn’t had regular oil and filter changes there will be all sorts of wear and tear.
Ring the garage in the morning ask them what they would charge to swap the engine. They may even be able to source you one for a good price. And would it be cost effective compared to repair. They should be straight with you. Not all garages are Aholes.

You would be better off selling it as a non runner for collection only on E Bay. Scrap prices are terrible at the moment.
I got slated by all the TVP owners last time I said something bad about them. But what I will say is if the AA man and your garage both say they reckon the belt has gone, it will be the belt. That is not a cheap fix and could have caused untold further damage. If the belt has gone it is because it has not been serviced properly if at all. And probably been driven badly also. So I wouldn’t even part with the £90.
It will be an endless money pit.

    Easy job.
    Disconnect the meter tails.
Cut a relevant size hole in the floor
Unscrew the back board from the wall and drop it through the hole
Screw the back board on to the wall in new location
Shorten and reconnect the meter tails
    Repair floor
    Job done.

phone the company that did the work and would have issued the certificates?

bet its the solicitors/vendors being lazy.
The Installers don’t have to provide certificate. They also usually charge extra to provide a certificate so customers, specially builders don’t want them.
The work will have been tested.

although you have probably thought of this, I think it might be cheaper to rent a bike when out there, it also would remove the need to care about wear and tear on your own bike!

    This is the way.
Do you really want to trust someone else with your bike?

On a few occasions it hasn’t ‘clicked’ at the correct torque. One particular time when I was tightening a seat collar it went way past the point and cracked the carbon frame

This is because you shouldn’t use a torque wrench as a ratchet. The nut or bolt etc should be first tightened and finished off with your torque wrench.
