I love this thread. I have happy memories of Ainsa. One summer we spent a few days exploring the Ordesa canyon and surrounding area – we might have camped at your campsite Spekkie. One day we returned to find a flash flood, but just in time before our tent and belongings floated away. We decamped up the hill to a hotel in the town, which is really pretty. My enduring memory is of a very long night we spent in the “Irish bar” – by virtue of it selling Guinness – with some very friendly locals. The hangover was worth it!

I’m no expert but I’d say the spaniel character is very much to the fore with ours. For years I’d resisted getting a dog but absolutely no regrets now – she is a great addition to the family.

Shackleton, we got our tricolour ‘phantom’ F1b pup from the following breeder via pets4homes – she doesn’t have a separate website. Would recommend; good pre- and post-sale advice and service and all relevant vet checks and DNA certificates provided. We met our pup’s mum and dad too when we went to collect.

OP – we contacted a breeder near Brechin but go no answer (same one as you?). We got our cockapoo pup from a breeder in Whitby, North Yorks. Bit of a trek from East Lothian but worth it. Can dig out their details when I get home from work tonight if you’re interested.

I have similar issues with my Trance X and rear SLX brake – vibration/judder before brake bites. It doesn’t affect the breaking perfomance though and soon disappears once I’m into the ride. I think martinxyz’s comments about brake seals is relevant to mine – I don’t get out on my bike much.

I just found the 10 yr old bottle of Glenmorangie I was given before my daughter was born. That was 8 yrs ago. I have now liberated it from the back of the cupboard it was in. Cheers!

I am using that with a 2009 Giant Trance X – no problems.

I am ashamed to say that this is languishing in my garage. Back in the day it was a ripper!

Just travelling back from Brittany. I took my road bike. It was good and suited the limited windows I had to escape from the family. Depending on where you’re going you may find a good off-road coastal trail. But then you might not …

We recently got our 8 yr old daughter a Ridgeback MX24. I put a shorter stem on it, otherwise it’s stock. She loves it and has already had a few successful trips to Glentress on it. Result 🙂

Another vote for MTB in les Baux / les Alpilles – around Fontvieille and St Remy is interesting. No idea about hiring a bike – maybe down the road in Arles?

Yes, have a 2009 Trance X with Pikes and it’s really well balanced. Would like to try some adjustable 150s on it – think that would be the optimum.

Breadfruit. Doesn’t taste like fruit. Doesn’t taste like bread. Doesn’t taste of anything. But it’s good for you. Apparently.

I boycotted the swimming pool at a campsite we stayed at this summer in France. They enforced the “Speedo rule”.

I downsized from a Patriot to a Trance X two years ago. Took a punt on a nearly new (old shape)frame off this website. Whilst it’s not a “sexy” brand, the bike has been a revelation performance-wise(albeit with a few tweaks). In any event try before you buy?

That is just income tax though. VAT and other taxes must skew that a lot.

    In which direction?

Presumably the high earners have more disposable income so end up paying more in VAT as they spend it?

While the lower earners are more likely to spend large portions of their income on essential items with low VAT or exemption? [/quote]

Is it not a question of proportions, as opposed to totals?
