  • The First Women’s Red Bull Rampage Is Underway
  • Although it won’t necessarily be 100% finished, I’m hoping the new Dialled Bikes website will go live this week, and Alpine pre-order details will go up then.

Alternatively, if anyone wants to reserve an Alpine in the standard white or orange colours, drop me an e-mail and I will add them to the order book so their frame is reserved.

Sorry for slight slackness. I’ve spent too much time messing about with BMX stuff again this season instead of getting any work done

Lovely article. Brings back great memories of that golden era of BMX.

I’ll listen to the audios when I have more time.

I-Link System being misread as Hunk System is nothing compared to the problem C LI N T EASTWOOD had early on in his career.

    It takes 135mm rear wheel.

I found my Caddy Sportline by using the search function on the VW commercials/vans website.

Got it from Imperial Commercials in Derby who were good to deal with, no hassles.

Accu, we sell replacement decal sets for all frames. E-mail the info@ address if you want some.

If this thread proves anything, you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

For clarification the standard colours will be WHITE and one of the following:

    YS804 or YS8099 (neon/luminous greens) or YS7463 or YS464 (transparent blues).

I’m not considering doing any other colours than the ones stated above.

I like 7463 as it reminds me of Audi Sprint Blue, which might be quite apt given how popular Audis are on this here forum

    I’m Dialled Bikes on Facebook.

The link above works if you log-in to Facebook.

Messiah, that was a logistical nightmare in the end. 100 frames in about 12 different colours, and two people wanted pink!

Tymbian, depends how busy the UK paintshop is I suppose.

I’ve put some details up on the Dialled Bikes Facebook page now.

Possibly have a solution to appease most potential customers.

Will put something on the website or Facebook page later/this week.

RichC – If I went down the route of DIY paint jobs I know a very reasonably priced (and good) paintshop which does a lot of our team frames. £40 per frame, plus postage. So I would try to strike a deal for customers with them.

Hora – yes, like that but a bit darker and nicer. Don’t think it would suit the Alpine though.

Loads of Dialled Bikes frames already out there in orange and that green. Time to give those colours a rest and come up with something new.

The metallic coffee of the PA29 prototype is really nice, but I don’t think it would suit the Alpine.

Maybe I should just supply the frames raw, supply with a sticker set, and let people get them sprayed up themselves?

Pre-order link will hopefully be up on the site in about a week. Hopefully, I will have a completely new Dialled Bikes website within a week!

Burgtecs. I’ve got a 4 year old set which have been bashed, raced 4X and BMX on them, in all manner of UK slop and grime, and never so much as been greased/serviced once.

They are the older (Mk2?) ones which I believe are a bit thicker than the newer ones. Slightly heavier than other/slimmer pedals, but in the grand scheme of things, not heavy at all, and I would rather carry a few extra ounces and have a bombproof product, than scrimp on a component that is under a lot of stress/abuse like a pedal.

Choosing colours is doing my head in, as I was dead set on the raw/polished/clear coat.

Still thinking white (as the subtle option) and fluorescent green (as the bolder option – similar to Kwak green but brighter).

I think simple black stickers would go well with either colour, but may opt for the brushed alloy ones like I use on my other brand’s frames, but in a different style/font: http://factoryteambikes.com/Factory_Team_Bikes/Pro_XXL.html

Yes. Same size seat post (27.2mm), seat clamp (30mm) and front mech (28.6).

Ison used to sell a clamp on front mech widget type thing.

Unfortunately, probably not gonna go with the raw/lacquered finish for production as one of the finish on one of the test frames hasn’t held up as well as the others. It may just be a one off, but I’d rather go with a tried and tested powder coat colour for this next batch and then re-assess the finishes on the other test frames at the time it comes to re-order the next batch.

I think the Alpine would look good in white. Any suggestions?

    Blue Lagoon thermal spa
    Gulfoss (sp?) Falls
    Geysers
    Teptonic Plates
Hard Rock Cafe (the waitresses were stunning when I went there).

Loved my trip there. Not a cheap place though, so be prepared for things costing twice as much as they do in the UK.

Correction – the seat post size is 30.9mm, not 31.6mm. Still dropper compatible.

68 degree head angle (on sagged 140mm fork), 74 degree seat angle. No big departure from the original Alpines, just a bit roomier in the top tube and tad lower BB as those were the only criticisms levelled at previous versions. I didn’t want to change stuff for the sake of it.

Graphics on the production frame will also be different as the reflective panel sticker gets a mixed reception. The brushed aluminium ones I use on my other company’s frames (Factory Team Bikes) would probably go well with the Alpine’s raw look.

25mm bb drop gives a 12″ bb height on a sagged 140mm fork.

Love/Hate is an XC/trail frame, not a jump frame. You’re free to jump it if you like though.

Still 16″ and 18″ but with slightly longer top tubes and lower BB, plus the bigger head tube and seat tube that seem all the rage these days.

Not much else has changed as I didn’t think it needed to change much.

    What size?

100mm forks would be OK on the Prince Albert Classic.

Alpines go into production in about 3 weeks, Rich. Hopefully land them August/September time.

I’ll announce sort some kind of pre-order deal once I get the move out of the way at the end of the month.

jon, I was revising the drawings yesterday. Toying with the idea of doing a normal BB and an EBB version of the PA29.

New Alpine needs to be produced first. Then the 29’ers.

Hallsy, the review you will have read is for the first 853 version of the Prince Albert, not the new Prince Albert Classic. There haven’t been any reviews of the Classic, which is the current 853 version of the Prince Albert.

I thought I had sold all of the Reynolds 725 Prince Alberts, but unearthed 1 x 17″ one, and a few 15.5″ ones in the warehouse move, so if you don’t want to stretch to £250 for an 853 frame, these last few 725 frames are cheaper.

Thanks for the recommendations, but the Alpine cupboard is bare at the moment. Sorry.

Got Love/Hates (with Phil Wood EBB) and Prince Albert Classic frames in stock though.

If you buy a Prince Albert Classic frame, I will buy the 44mm headset from you

Does not having a tapered fork or a dropper post really ruin your riding experience so significantly that you wouldn’t buy a frame that you admit to liking/enjoying?

Just built up my first 29’er, but not ridden it yet.

I don’t really think 29’ers are intended for short arses like me though.

I usually sling 2 or 3 whole bikes in the back of mine. I could probably fit 4 whole bikes in if it put them in carefully.

Only thing I don’t like about my Caddy is the wallowy suspension, which is slightly disappointing given it’s a Sportline and is supposed to have sports suspension.

If I’m completely honest, I had never even heard of this show until a few weeks ago.

For info, the current Prince Albert is the Prince Albert Classic and is made of 853 tubing. This one is slightly lighter than the most recent 725 versions, and considerably lighter than the much earlier 520 versions. Some of the comments about weight are therefore not comparing like for like.

Are we talking about a Mk1 Reynolds 520 Prince Albert?

If my memory is correct, only the first few hundred Prince Albert frames were 520, then the rest have been 853 and 725, with the current ones (the PA Classic) now being 853 again.

I’ve been doing the Tim Ferris 4 hour body diet (which I believe is linked to the idiet in some way) on and off since the end of August. Probably lost about half a stone between August and December, when combined with very little exercise other than riding once a week.

From 1st Jan, I then started going to 1 class per day at the gym (e.g. spin, circuits, body pump, etc) 3 or 4 days per week and started keeping records of my weight and %age body fat.

    01.01.13:
    12st 1lb
    24% body fat

    03.03.13
    10st 12lbs 8oz
    19.3% body fat

I don’t really want to lose any more weight now, just get my body fat down to between 15%-18%.

Should add, that I do 2 cheat days (Sat & Sun) and don’t hold back. Not experienced any lack of energy issues either. I actually feel like I have more energy now I’m less lardy.

Accu – unfortunately not. I’m spinning too many plates at once at the moment what with the Mk3 Alpine and PA29 in testing, and the launch of a new “race only” BMX brand (Factory Team Bikes), which has taken off quicker than I thought it would.

There’s even a PA-LT sitting in the warehouse doing nowt at the moment if someone wants to be a test rider. I think it’s a large/19″ frame.

Scott, the PA Classic frames are now £425 (the £295 was a pre-order special).

Most people tend to run 110mm – 140mm travel on Prince Alberts.
