  • UCI Confirms 2025 MTB World Series Changes
  • Yes, sorry dickyboy, I’m not sure what the situation is in the UK, but over here in the US the choice of 26″ rims and tyres seems pretty limited compared to 27.5 now.

There are some other photos on @dialledbikes Instagram which show them from better angles and built up.

I’ve been doing this long enough to know I can’t please all the people all the time (or even some people any of the time  ) so I’m not offended by negative comments.

Sorry the colours are not to everyone’s taste. Historically, the most popular Alpine colours were solid green and solid red, so I wanted to keep some of that heritage but not just repeat the same colours and graphics as before.

    HA 66 degrees
    SA 74 degrees
    TT Length: 23.5″ (16″ frame) & 24.25″ (18″ frame)
    Chain Stays: 430mm/16.93″
    BB Height: 12″

All based on a sagged 140mm travel fork.

What’s the obsession with boost rear ends?

    142 x 12 seems plenty good enough.

Hi Sebastian. $1100 will buy you something at the higher end of entry level here in the States.

I was thinking of buying a couple of donor bikes for the new Alpine frames I exhibited at Interbike Fall Cyclofest last month, the best value for money was something like a GT Pantera at $1500/$1600.

In the end, I just ended up going the custom spec route which was closer to $1000 (excluding price of frame which I already had).

The Rocker BMX are more like novelty bikes. The Radio and Mafia are more authentic.

C’mon Mike, you can’t leave us all dangling like that! Where’s the Albert 29?

    Best stealth add evah!

Edit: just had a look at ‘website’, still no wiser

I shelved the PA29’er. Might revive it one day, but currently working on a couple of 27.5 projects and a new 4X/fukkabout frame.

Website is gonna be down for a while. Just using Instagram for now.

Sitting here staring at a drawing and trying to decide whether to delete the front mech cable stop or not. No harm in keeping it I suppose. Keeps peoples’ options open.

Yes George, Dialled Bikes is still going. Thanks for asking.

Life in general (and my other bike brand, FTB BMX) took precedence over Dialled Bikes for a while. It was also frustrating designing MTB frames when the industry seemed in a constant state of flux over wheel sizes, headset standards, number of gears, etc.

However, I recently moved to America and am beginning to dedicate a bit more time to Dialled Bikes again.

Seeing Robin Williams’ bike collection reminded me of that saying “money can’t buy you happiness, but it can buy you a bike, and that’s pretty close”. Such a pity he didn’t find inner peace in one of those 102 bikes.

It’s reassuring to know not many people place too much weight on magazine reviews when deciding what bike to buy next. If they did, I probably wouldn’t have sold as many Dialled Bikes frames.

I always thought word of mouth from other riders was more important than mag reviews anyway.

Yes sillyoldman, it’s Billy Stupple the ex-Skyway factory team rider. And he’s still a rad rider at 50 years old.

Got 2 x 18″ Alpine samples today and hopefully Lovelo Cycle Works will be building them up as test/demo bikes within the next few weeks.

LOL @ Mr Smith. A pump track would be nice, but not so sure about the pig farm.

Just to clear up a few things. I still own Dialled Bikes and I’m moving to live in America in August, which means Dialled Bikes is moving to America too. Hoping to have more time on my hands stateside to revive the brand and bring out some new frames (and continue building on the success of my BMX brand, FTB).

New Alpine and Prince Albert frames have already passed ISO tests at first attempt. Both are designed for 27.5″ wheels (will also take 27.5+). Official reveal should be at Interbike Cyclofest in October as it’s just down the road from where I will be living. Both frames will have the Reynolds 631 XX44 head tube, be dropper post compatible and have 142×12 rear ends.

It’s nice to know people loved riding the previous frames I designed and have great memories of riding them.

Not alot interesting happens in my life, but…..

About five or six years ago, I got sent a brand new set of compact Rotor Q Rings. Don’t know who from, or what I’d done to deserve them. I didn’t end up using them either, I just sold them on.

A also received a prototype Dialled Bikes frame to test about four years ago. I only rode it a hand full of times due to mental illness, ended up giving it to a mate to ride instead. Although it got him back into cycling, so I guess it wasn’t all bad.

Sorry to hear that Dave. I hope you’re feeling better these days.

Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words, and it’s nice to see people still feel the love for the Dialled Bikes brand.

Scottfitz, sorry that the 29’er project never went to production. I got to final pre-production prototype stage (just sold the last 2 off actually) but the whole industry-driven-for-the-sake-of-it/creating-a-solution-for-problems-that-don’t-exist 26/29/650B thing pissed me off so I decided to take a break from doing MTB stuff altogether and focussed on my new race only BMX venture, Factory Team Bikes (FTB).

When I re-find the passion for MTB again and the industry as a whole stops dicking people about and settles on a wheel size, I will bring out some more Dialled Bikes stuff (people are already running Alpines as 650B anyway). I still love riding my mountain bikes!

It’s nice not to be forgotten though ;-)

Dialled ain’t dead – it’s just resting (still have frames in stock, just not working on anything new right now).

    Steel or alu?

    26″, 29″ or 650B?

What fork travel is considered long travel these days?

FYI – I’ll be clearing out the last 725 and 853 frames for silly prices (about 30 frames in total) when I get my arse in gear and put something up on the Dialled Bikes website.

    RSDsports.co.uk in Manchester

I agree with the above that the Slackline seems more aligned to a BFE (or an Alpine) than a PA Classic 853 or a Soul.

Yes, PA29’er in the works. Design and testing now complete, I just need to take the plunge and order some.

Not sure whether this will influence your decision or not either way, but there’ll be no more 26″ Prince Alberts once current stock of the 853 Classic frames are sold out.

I think I’ve got about 27 left of random sizes and colours.

    End of an era.

Hora has discovered Manchester indoor BMX track, so I suspect he wants a race bike rather than a street/park bike.

Have a look on the bmxtalk.com classifieds. You’ll want something with a 21.5″ or 22″ top tube.

Hi Jim. Sorry, if I didn’t reply to your e-mail.

I sell replacement stickers for £13 per set including postage and packing, but I’m not sure if I have any of the ones which say “Prince Albert” left.

Prototype Alpine frame. The clearcoat didn’t prove that durable so that finish was canned for production. The prototype raw PA29’er and Holeshot frames seem to be holding up better.

Sorry, I don’t sell the Love/Hate any more.

However, when the PA29’er eventually comes out, it will also come in a Phil Wood EBB version.

Hi Moonboy. Which version is your PA (Reynolds 520, 853, 725, PA Classic 853)?

The current PA Classic 853 would appear to tick most of your boxes if you genuinely still like your current PA.

In response to Jambalaya’s point, yes, the Prince Albert Classic’s intended fork range is 100-140mm. The Alpines is 120-160mm.

Not sure if it’s common knowledge or not, but the current incarnation of the Prince Albert is the Prince Albert Classic Reynolds 853 frame, which has replaced the Reynolds 725 version.

    persona non grata ;-)

    Really Mosey, no thanks necessary.

Go give your girlfriend a big hug.

Then get that bike built and take it for a good thrashing this weekend. Sounds like you’ve earned it after a stressful week.

We’re only as good as our last customer says we are. And dissatisfied customers tend to make a lot more noise than satisfied ones.

I have a Caddy Sportline, not a C20. It’s ace, and will be even better once I get firmer springs and a remap :-)

Best place to start is deciding whether you want 20″ or 24″ wheels. 22″ hasn’t really taken off yet and wheels and tyres are very limited (it’s the Holmes which is now 22″ Tom, not the Dirt Bike).

And for £200 go for something used.

By the sound of the original post, a 4X bike might be a better option than a BMX.

Winch, until I get some proper studio shots of the frame done, is it OK to use a couple of your pics on the Dialled Bikes website, please?

Nice to see the frames getting built up. That white one really does look cool and I’m glad we went for that colour in the end.

Regarding stickers, the “proper” stickers arrived today, but they’re about 200% too big! Sticker maker has been notified and anyone with a Mk3 Alpine who wants to upgrade from Gothic stickers to the newer ones at a later date, I will send them out free of charge.

There won’t be an Alpine name sticker on these frames. It’s engraved on the seat stay brace, so no need. Eventually, I want all my frames to have zero Dialled Bikes stickers on them and just have the Reynolds tubing stickers – as I hear they have magic properties (especially the 853 one) which prevent rust, so we need to keep those ;-)

Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered and if anyone else fancies one now they have seen them, I still have about 60 frames left out of the batch so get in touch.

Have you tried a 725 or 853 Prince Albert, Stan?

Sorry 6079smithw. Nothing personal. The Dialled Bikes Facebook page seems to get targeted by a lot of spammers trying to befriend it so for a while I just accepted friend requests from people with mutual friends or if their profiles had photos of bikes/riding on it.

Best way to contact me is always by e-mail.

Hoping to get Mk2 prototypes soon.

Mk1’s rode nice but I had the pfaff of having to use a custom seat tube to accommodate common sized dropper posts, seat clamps and front mechs.

Reynolds now make an off the shelf 631 tube to the dimensions I originally wanted, so it made sense to order new samples with that tube and a few additional tweaks.

I’ll put some pics out there once they arrive/are built up.

The current Prince Albert is the newer Reynolds 853 Prince Albert Classic frame.

The previous Reynolds 725 frame was probably more comparable to a Blue Pig than the PA Classic, as this newer one is lighter and the recommended fork range is 100-140mm. Anyone who wants more travel than 140mm should opt for an Alpine (which also caters for the fat head tube/seat tube crowd as well).

If opting to run a rigid fork, use a 29’er fork on the Prince Albert.
