Just got back from cut gate too, decent ride and saw quite a few others sweating too! :-)

Doing Cut Gate this Sunday too, might even link it into Doctors Gate and make it longer! Done different Peaks rides over the last 4 weekends and they’ve all been brilliant! The weathers been spot on too and the forecast looks OK for this Sunday as well

After months of research, which is quite had where canyon bikes are concerned I eventually plumped for the ES9.0….it arrived 4 weeks ago and the bike is immense! Been hammering it around the peaks and the thing just loves…….well everything to be honest, climbs amazing well with pro pedal and the forks at 120 locked out, then with the forks whacked up to 160 and pro pedal turned off the rocky descents taken at speed are unbelievable! This thing just glides over anything in its way. Best thing I’ve bought for many a year!

Out of the limited reviews/articles I found only ever good things were said about them. The dirt magazine review which said “if you have an engine to power these toys of speed to the top and along then you have the only bike you will ever need” swayed my decision and when it does arrive if it’s not right then youve got a 30 day return, obviously you can’t have been out hammering it. I went for the small as I’m 5.7 with a 30″ inside leg

I did this 2 weeks ago, it was fairly dry then but not sure what it would be like now…

Canyon strive ES9, I’m biased as that’s what I have, did a 30km ladybower reservoir trail on Thursday on it and not had so much fun for ages, get the suspension dialled in, play with the talas and pro pedal if you want and this thing goes over anything. Climbs well and is an absolute bitch on the big rocky descents……drop the seat, let go of the brakes and hold on tight :-)

I ordered the ES 9.0 four weeks ago, only another two weeks to wait for it to arrive! When I researched getting a new bike (which I did for about two months) I kept coming back to the canyons time and time again. The lack of reviews is a pain, unless you use google chromes translator and even then you still have to piece together what there trying to say. Out of the limited reviews/articles I found only ever good things were said about them. Was just about to purchase the strive es 9! Is this something I should be wary of? Should I get the nerve am 9x that just has the basic double ring setup? Furthermore what’s the strive like, is it overkill for riding in the peaks/lakes?

Thanks guys. Was set on getting a Canyon Nerve AM 9 but then came across this and liked the idea of 90/150 lockout, and am now back to square one and deciding what bike to get! It’s doing my head in to be honest :-)

It might be the sadomasochistic in me but I love the steep climbs the most, dont get me wrong the downs are great too, but for me it’s the burn of the lactic acid in your legs and the sense of achievement when you’ve made it to the top without getting off and walking. Each to their own though!

I’ve only just moved to Hudds, so i’ve only been playing in the Peaks so far. I lnow where you mean though as i’ve driven past Emley Moor a few times and thought it would be good to get out around there and start investigating

Born and bred in York – not that good riding
Lived Knaresborough/Harrogate for 10 years – some decent trails around but still have to travel a bit for anything decent.
Just moved to Huddersfield – Peak District all the WAY!! a 30 minute drive for me, but get to spend all day there finding routes, love it!…..only a 40 minute train drive to Leeds as well

The thought of saving each month for a year or more is not really fun when you’re desperate for a bike so the M&S 15 months interest free Credit Card is a good option, be strict with it and make sure you pay it off within the 15 months. Ive got mine coming next week which is enabling me to buy a new bike

@coogan, free cake, beer and wine sounds good

Went snowboarding to les deux alpes last June, all year round boarding on the glacier at the top, then spent two days on the trials as well, one hell of a place to ride.

Getting a new bike in a few weeks so may look at another biking holiday later in the year
