More to the point, what does a Muslamic Ray Gun do, and how do I go about acquiring one one? They sound like they would be even more fun than a light sabre.

    Divorced.

    No regrets whatsoever.

It was pretty much a choice between leaving or killing myself.

MM, that’s what your hazard lights are for

also, fun fact for you… you can turn on the left hand/right hand hazard lights independently by flicking the toggly thing next to your steering wheel either up or down. other cars use them to show which direction their intending on travelling to others.

I thought that the rules of common courtesy in a slow-moving vehicle situation were that everybody should just wait and give the person driving the BMW precedence to do whatever they want to do?

I’ve just bought a Bimmer on that very basis – so I’m going to be mightily upset if this is not, in fact, the case. :D

Stupid Black Cat Mark II has spent hours and hours and hours over the last week chasing his own feet, and he still hasn’t managed to catch them. He seems to be the happiest little cat in the known universe.

I, on the other hand, am (just) intelligent enough to be able to catch my own feet on the first try (mostly, depending on the level of whisky consumption), and I spend a considerable amount of time feeling grumpy and / or stressed.

    Must be true then :D

Its was only a few years after the whole vCJD fiasco

Ah, yes, that well known mass killer. Are you just trying to provide examples of other scare stories?

I rather think that the point was not the number of cases of vCJD, but the fact that the government of the day had stated, absolutely categorically, that there was no risk whatsoever to humans from eating meat from BSE infected animals, when it turned out that there was, in fact, a risk. I’m not sure that people can be blamed for bearing that case in mind when the government of the day stated that there was no risk from the MMR vaccine.

I wasn’t vaccinated against anything except polio and diptheria as a small child. My Mother said that here was quite a lot of speculation in the seventies about the safety of the vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella and whooping cough, so my parents decided against it.

Mind you, what would my Mum know about it, she’s just your average namby pamby middle class parent… who holds a medical degree.

I think that this thread could be a serious rival to “Sudocreme Cat”

Matt Damon, Leonardo Di Caprio and Angelina Jolie.

Can’t watch a film with any of them in it. No good reason whatsoever, they just make my teeth itch.

A word of warning if you are planning to use a feline mouse deterrent.

    Mice are horribly crunchy :|

Proper Blastaways contained a shot of vodka as well. They tasted like sick. Which saved time.

At the moment it is snizzling here.

I would like to stake here and now my claim to the invention of a new word to describe the combination of snow and drizzle. 8)

    Winnie the Pooh.

“Pooh readings” were a night time ritual in our family. Yes, I know that sounds very very wrong.

Another +1 for the Arthur Ransome books. I read them all as a child, and then 3 years ago bought another copy of Coot Club and re-read it while sailing the Broads on holiday. I found it just as captivating as an adult – especially when moored up for the night at some of the places n the book. We even saw a small boat in Horning done up as a replca of the Death and Glory. It was truly excellent.

Also for myself… I went to the doctors just to get some help sleeping and I came out being g told I have anxiety and depression. Oh joy.

    Well of course you do!

I’m not being insensitive, just stating a fact. Anybody who goes through what you have been through will be suffering the same thing. I would almost be more worried if you weren’t suffering from it.

It is an absolutely natural reaction to having a horrifyingly traumatic experience, and it will pass. If you put one of your limbs through the same amount of physical trauma as the amount of mental trauma that your head’s been through, I’m sure that you wouldn’t be surprised if that limb ended up being injured, and needed time to recover. Your brain is no different and it will be fine – it just needs some time to recover is all.

Keep talking, keep doing the things that help, and keep riding your bike.

Above all, keep remembering that there are a lot of people thinking of you, and rooting for you.

Moronic cat Mk II brought the same mouse in 3 times yesterday.

To be honest, by the third time, I was starting to lose sympathy with the mouse. As it had managed to get caught three times by the most retarded cat in Yorkshire, I fear that it is perhaps not one of nature’s “survivors”.

Especially since the second time I rescued it, it put it in the shed – where the cat can’t get – and it didn’t even have the sense to stay there!

When you make that distinct “aaah” grunt of pleasure when you sit in an armchair.

And then make the special grunt that indicates mild displeasure and a slight struggle, when you have to get out of said chair
