On a lighter note, I had a rather unusual argument with our next door neighbours last week.

We have two cats, and being cats, they are not going to crap in our tiny garden when next door have a huge nicely dug-over litter tray garden just waiting to be used…..

Anyhow, next door say that they used to have six cats so they are used to it, and it’s not a problem. Our argument is that whether they are used to it or not, if our cats are crapping all over their garden, then we should be clearing it up for them (our gardens are open to each other as we have right of access through their garden). However they are adamant that they don’t mind and that there’s no need for us to put ourselves out for them! It seems that they feel that Black Cat Mk I is doing such a sterling job of ensuring that there are no longer any rats on their property (they are all laid out dead in my kitchen instead…..), that they are quite happy with the arrangement.

To be honest, If the situation was reversed, I’m not sure that I’d be quite so happy!

    Our neighbours are brilliant.

Sadly I cannot say the same for the patrons of the WMC across the road. I have happy dreams of the place burning to the ground someday soon.

Have you tried covering your cat in Sudocrem? I read somewhere that it will take your mind off other things…..

    No no no!

Best Nick Cave Lyric of all time has to be:

I hear stories from the chamber
Christ was born into a manger
And, like some ragged stranger, he died upon the cross
And might I say, it seems so fitting in it’s way
He was a carpenter by trade

I decided on celibacy after splitting up with my ex.

Three weeks later I met up with a friend that I had known for a few years, since we used to work together.

We got engaged two years ago :D

It could be something as simple as an infection from a bite/fight. I would get him to a vet fairly quickly. 13 isn’t that old.

Very true. Basement cat got an abcess on his leg after a scrap (god knows what state the other cat was in…)

**** em the UK made cars before ,they aren’t doing that bad now

Very true. I have just got rid of a British car.

It was brilliant – except for the minor detail that I think the engine may have been made of cheese, as it disintegrated on a regular basis.

A classic example, in fact, of British cars. Sadly.

    Very very sad news.

For years when anybody ever says ‘wild’ in a conversation I’ve always mentally said “wild, I was absolutely livid”…

    Me too!

Of course there was the bit between passing my test and being able to afford my own car (several years in fact)

Cars that my parents were generous insane enough to give me the free use of:

    Ford Escort
    Rover 214
    Rover 400
    Rover 800
    Jaguar XJ8

    Silly, silly people.

Why do people want nice cars? 2 words: Buttertubs Pass (between Swaledale and Wensleydale). Fantastic drive!

Having said that, there’s a difference between “nice” and “expensive”.

I also don’t get the point of buying brand new, and wouldn’t be happy with finance. My “new” car is ten years old, but it’s still a nice drive, and I have the security of owning it outright (although I do owe Mr Mule senior some money…).

*crosses fingers and hopes there isn’t a massive repair bill just round the corner…*

Plus 1979 MGBGT – restoration project. Had to sell due to lack of finances meant that it was just rusting away on the drive. Gutted.

A reg Fiesta. Awful awful awful thing.

F reg Panda 4×4. Less refined than a Trabant – but brilliant fun in 4wd.

    Rover Metro. Surprisingly nice.

Pug 106 diesel. Horribly underpowered uphill, but handled surprisingly well.

Rover 400 2.0 Turbo Diesel. Fast for a diesel, brilliant MPG, and the most reliable car I have ever owned. Ran and ran and ran and only ever needed brake pads and tyres. 160K on clock and still running perfectly when an oaf in a Focus pulled pulled on me and ripped the engine bay out.

MGZS. Absolutely fantastic car to drive. Handled like it was glued to the road, and huge fun. Sadly the engine was the Rover K series – therefore made of cheese – and terminally disintegrated in February.

BMW 3 Series. Nice. Very nice. Not as much fun as the MG though.

Just spent 2 weeks walking through traditional summer hay meadows in the Dales (via public footpaths of course). They look absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately it seems that they contain about five million flying bitey things per square foot. My legs look like dot-to-dot puzzles.

    From CB website:

    Sandwich courses

There are two types of sandwich course:

college-based – this is where your child spends periods away from college doing practical training with their employer
work-based – where your child is employed as an apprentice or trainee, and takes a full-time college or school course

You may be able to get Child Benefit if your child is on a college-based course but it would need to be full-time and non-advanced. You won’t qualify if your child is on a work-based course.

So I’m guessing that the likelihood is we don’t pay the ex.

In which case both the kids will get a direct debit into their own bank accounts.

I should point out that payments are not through CSA, just on a private arrangement. Te OH has been paying the ex towards both children – despite the fact that no.1 child is almost 19 and has been working and paying board for the last year…. which the ex “forgot” to mention…

Have looked everywhere on web, but there doesn’t seem to be any clear statement regarding paid apprenticeships – technically he will be in employment and earning a wage.
