Not stricktly speaking really veggie friendly but http://www.theratinn.com/ is owned by the people who used to run the Green Room in Hexham. It’s a super little country pub with everything source locally and the menu is decided depending on what they get on the day. The one constant is the Rib of Beef for 2 Probably the best bit of Beef I’ve ever eaten.

Got any info on the stuff at Rothbury? Was there a few weeks ago but everything that looked good was a footpath. As I can only ride at weekends and the place had plenty of walkers around it didn’t really seem a good idea to go racing down them.

when you say it’s nothing to do with colourspace why not leave it unassigned with no profile? maybe adobe don’t know what they are doing?

Nope it’s as simple as you’re over complicating mrmichaelwright’s issue. As stated above by myself and other people it’s to do with what you see first is the preview embedded in the RAW file then when you click on it Lightroom chucks that and render’s it’s own preview which will look completely different to the Camera’s version as it can’t read the in camera settings, Colour space being one of them but only 1 and at this stage less important than the luminence curve.

It’s nothing to do with Colour Space

really? i think it’s everything to do with colourspace as that’s central to the differences in output and preview Mike is getting.
i don’t see the point in using another program that changes the workflow as surely that’s the advantage of lightroom over the shonky nikon/canon software?

Sorry you are this time wrong. It’s everything to do with the difference between the in camera jpeg (Which includes the camera luminence curve, sharpening and saturation settings among others) and the default Raw rendering of the ACR engine.
I miss the database side of Lightroom but after re-trying to get as good as results as NX when Adobe released the Nikon Profiles. I just couldn’t. This is the NX Version of the test RAW and after a lot of trying I just couldn’t get Lightroom to get the sharpness and clarity without it looking way overdone.

    [/url]

I now use Expression Media (MS but it works) to manage my files and NX for the processing. The beauty of Expression is it’s one of the few DAM tools which will allow you to turn off it’s RAW engine and to only show the embedded preview of the RAW file.

    Everyone is wrong :D
Assuming you are shooting RAW, what you see initially is the in camera created embedded jpg. Then as Lightroom processes the image it creates it’s own preview based on it’s rather bland and poor Defaults. You can either change these to try and match your camera processing and save these as the import defaults or use Canon DPP or Nikon Capture NX (Or View NX for free) Both of Which preserve and apply in camera setting while allowing you to change them after shot.

The Latest Lightroom has Camera profiles for the newer Nikon colour modes in the Profiles section. These mimic the in camera colours quite well, but in the long run Nothing processes a NEF file quite like Capture NX if you can live with it’s hang ups.. Which I can!

It’s nothing to do with Colour Space Lightroom works in ProPhotoRGB until you select a space at export. RAW files don’t have a colour space until they are de-mosaiced into an image.

Ladies Please love me I’m so new man and offended by this thread PLEASE LOVE ME.. PLEASE!!! I will never ever say anything which may be deemed even the slightest bit offensive to anyone ever I promise.

I don’t have a problem with you disagreeing with me, that’s life and the fact that I’m right and you’re wrong is neither here nor there. But why the juvenile name-calling?

Who mentioned your name? I didn’t call you anything, I poked fun at the P.C. mentality of some posts. Which, is different to name calling, as this by definition involves the calling of a name!

And thanks for proving my point about women posting stuff to fit in to the laddish culture here: ‘Hats off to Mrs Flash’ indeed. Did you mean ‘hats’?

No I meant ‘thumbs up’ which is exactly what I posted. I didn’t mention Hats anywhwere.

As long as your Camera works in UMS Mode (IE doesn’t need a driver and just shows up in My Computer as a Disk drive) then any recent Archo’s Series 5 Portable Media player will do that just fine.

I use an Archos 504 (40GIG) and just plug my camera in and copy the files over using it’s file browser.

10-15 Watt of Valve at home is Really Really Loud. I have a 5 Watt Modded Valve head and 1×12 and at full tilt it’s still seriously loud. This guy mod’s the basic and fairly rubbish cheap Valve amps http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/andydokken

I also have a Line6 Pod x3 Live which for sheer versitility is amazing, it’s no valve and doesn’t respond the same but it has such a range of amp models and sounds that you’ll have to be very pedantic about valve response and dynamics not to love playing with it.

I think your talent is more important than the best Uni. Lets be Honest Jonthan Ive the Senior VP of Industrial Design at Apple got his degree at Newcastle poly (Now Northumbria Uni http://www.northumbria.ac.uk/sd/academic/scd/alumni/jive/ ) In design more than most other industries Talent gets you the job more than the Name of the Uni on your Degree.

(you can call a file virtually anything you like on Macs, and have spaces and odd characters in file names etc).

Really it’s quite amazing how you can do that on a PC too, There are only 9 reserved Characters which can’t be used in file or folder names on a PC, most of which are also reserved characters on Linux/Unix too.

Anyway TBH get Either. I use Windows/Linux and Apple day in day out, they all have their quirks and issues. Apple reall should drop their hardware costs though since they switched to off the shelf components, it’s just not realistic.

Mind you my Dual booting Hackintosh at home is great HP XW4200 boot’s Xp and OS-X and is a shed load faster than the Mac Pro’s we have at work…

It’s a bloody brilliant film But it’s not directed by Del Toro. I’m only pointing this out as it’s a shame the director doesn’t get the recognition for this great film. Juan Antonio Bayona is the Director and Del Toro ‘Presents’ the film. It wasnt’ going to get an outside of Spanish speaking countries release and Del Toro stepped in a spoke up for the film and helped get the deal for worldwide dirstribution hence the ‘Presents’ credit.

Best Propper Horror film in years !!
