My work environment is Microsoft so I don’t use Mail, Contacts or iCal to manage my organiser.

Some Will Scorn (no doubt!) But the Nokia Lumia 800 Windows phone 7.5 is by far the most stable and useful device I’ve ever owned. It’s exchange and sharepoint sync is superb The Built in SAT Nav is worth loads but it’s free! And there’s plenty of app’s if that floats ya boat.

Do you just want Storage or features like Print sharing, Media Server, Squeezebox, etc?
If the later a Qnap is superb but not the cheapest option.
The prior the Freecom home NAS are decent enough.

I had heard the Marzocchi gone shite rumour but hoped it wasn’t true :(
If they’re back to their old selves I may dig further.

Thing about football is that it doesnt just require fitness, it needs skill too, you can be the fittest person on the planet but still be crap at football. Conversely, you can be not quite fit but still make it as a pro footballer. Different sports have different requirements, daft to try and compare based solely on fitness.

That explains why were so shite at it then..

Back to the OP’s question, of course they do. To even hint that someone could come to the top of the elite of their sport without putting a huge amount of training hours shows a lack of understanding of how hard they work. OK they don’t have the grand Tours to participate in but they will still be training 4-6 hours a day every day.

The Big Benefit for VDI is it’s virtual so if a VM image gets compromised you trash it and launch a new clean one from the pool.

TBH with 2+K concurrent Zendesktop licenses and 30K students and staff usign the system for 8 years we’ve never had a single instance of malware travelling over and RDS connection. Yes allowing file copies is an issue from client devices, but we don’t allow that and also disable redirection of client devices.

Vmware View is VDI based do you have the infrastructure to implement VDI vs the lighterweight but as you say less secure session based Terminal Services/Citrix system.

Sadly the Coastal paths and some beaches are actually National trust. However the only thing stopping you from riding them is guilt/angry Farmer or the occasional ranger.
Sitting outside the Ship with a crab sarnie and a pitcher of black sheep is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Not quite the same kind of thing. But for a turbo session you could do worse than following along with a sufferfest video or two. If you push it hard and follow the intensity rules they’re killer for winter turbo sessions. Pretty cheap and download only.

    SPOILER ANSWER!

the fx, loctaions etc were all very good – just something in the tone that did not quite gel with me. And there were only 2 fleshed out alien characters, the rest were just mindless drones. Seemed too much of a gulf between the main alien and his son (intelligent, clear motivation etc) and the rest who were just mindlessly eating raw meat and catfood

Did you fall asleep through the bit where the docu' talked about how the aliens they found when opening the ship were like drones and the mention of the leaders/higher intelligence aliens being absent :D
the intelligent ones went down with the missing command module and since it was under his house It's safe to assume guess he was one of those.

Am I the only person who just puts the coffee in a cup and adds water? The ground coffee sinks to the bottom and I then add milk. You just have to remember to stop drinking before the bottom.

Well thats the Way the Greeks and Turks have done it for ever…
The Grounds sink better with the superfine grind you can buy over there for about 50p a pack. It's best boiled in a briki 1st and then poured into a cup IMHO.

Nikon do not make a wide angle lens that has the motor in the lens that you can use on a Nikon D700.

Since when did AF speed become an issue for Wide angle shots? The in body motors on the D300/700 and D3/x are ripping fast and snap into focus in a fraction of a second, especially given the short throw on the focus mechanism of most W/A Lenses.

None of the photographers I employ or have ever employed use non-branded lenses on my photographic shoots.

Really? Most pro's I know use whichever lens offers the best optical quality and performance for the job in hand regardless of who makes it what it costs.

Haven't seen many bargains on these. Better off getting a D90 though to be honest. A lot cheaper anyway and supercedes the D300 in many ways.

Really? Aside from it's Bolted on Video function I'd love you to elaborate on this.

Very unlikely to be switching to Canon. Too many Nikon bits to replace (and Nikon's are just better ).

I think the big players have it nailed on image quality across the board now. However I prefer Nikon's ergonomics and they fact that they apply mainly Chroma Noise reduction with little Luminance reduction at HI ISO. This may make the files a bit noisier than Canon's straight out of Camera, however there is more detail to work with in Post, and the nose that is left is more film grain like.

Mind you it's tiny difference only really noticeable in LARGE prints.
The ergonomics thought that's different entirely.

A photographer i regularly work with uses two D300's, and i always get to tweak the images afterwards. We both agreed that my Canon 5D is producing much sharper/better results. He will now be either getting 5D MK II or D700.

The inherent Sharpness of the 5D is both a blessing and a curse. The reason the 5D appears sharper then other Canon's and Nikon's (Aside from the Nikon D50 which has the same feature/issue) is it has a very weak Anti Aliasing filter, the result is you get shaper out of camera Raw files but if you shoot anything with a high frequency detail pattern (Pin stripes Bird Feathers and the like) you can get terrible moire patterns in the textures.

Nikon are known to use Less aggressive in camera sharpening than Canon but a similarly treated well shot RAW file should yield equivalent sharpness from both.

It's hard to buy a bad DSLR these day's, the biggest choice is good 3rd party accessory support and ergonomics.

Take it back, mickyfinn's answer is better than mine.

Nah your post is very good info but, tbh it's best to just avoid using odd characters, if you need to start escaping something to use it then you'll end up in a pool of shite sometime in the future.
Best to implement a sensible naming convention from day 1 using standard characters, of course if your doing a migration then you can't always do this but there comes a time when it's safer to scrap than to bodge!

My Main issue with the Sennhieser is the bloody cable coating they use it's a grippy rubber type material. This causes massive micrphonics to travel up the cable. So if your moving the music is accompanied by swoosh thrumm swoosh thrumm…….

Sennheiser are good bang for buck, Shure E2c's Canny but the bass is a bit light and crispy, also the Cables are fragile and prone to cracking behind the ear as mine did recently.

Replaced with Klipsch Image S4 and Comply foam tips (Which I also used on the Shure's) and they sound amazing. Punch and clarity.

I also Reccomend HiFiHeadphones as a great and helpful company to buy from

Thanks guys….. I had a long chat with the course tutors when he/we went round for the “open day” and they will be using XP Pro. I can’t remember why Linux was off the menu but he did explain it If there won’t be any issues then there’s really no reason why not to get the Macbook then is there?

Linux will be off the menu due to the 3d animation side of things. I assume as he’s programming and Modeling he’s doing a new fangled games development degree?

3dsMax and Maya along with a lot of Windowa only freeware is the mainstay of the Games degree’s round ‘ere, no Linux verions for those.
