still unusable on iOS17 and Safari today as the page keeps reloading (which probably isn’t helping your server load if everyone is loading content repeatedly).

Whereas here on iOS 17 and Safari it’s better than it’s been in many an age.

Did you keep your old Wireless Ssid for the new router and BB?

I had issues a few years back and after sending diagnostics back and forth with Sonos support (who were actually quite good tbh) they could see my devices disconnecting and reconnecting frequently and they immediately asked if had new kit but kept the old ssid on the wireless. I factory reset the lot, set them up again and it’s been faultless ever since.

i don’t know how it knows or cares but it seems to be a possible cause of connectivity issues.

I don’t have a sub but have the most recent beam with 2 Ones as surrounds. Tbh even without the sub it can punch enough to royally pee the neighbours off 😁

I guess between it and an Arc the question is which one can fill your room with sound, so room size dependent.

Still deciding what to do with our old (1890) 2 bed brick cottage.
Solid brick walls, loft well insulated, new double glazed windows and composite doors. Floors not insulated only about 6” of space under there (checked with remote camera)
Small solar and 5kw battery setup. No existing central heating (or oil or gas) currently running electric radiators using home automation to heat during the lowest Agile rates. TBH we like a cool but obviously not cold house. 5kw log burner in the living room for main comfort.
Do heat pumps stack up on old houses? after all there is only so much can be done to minimise heat loss. (External wall insulation is not an option due to the area and planning)

If the pipe work is done nice we have no issues with it all being exposed and visible as a feature (rather than rip up nice original oak flooring)

    hmmmm….

I find my stove fan a bit underwhelming but it was a present from my brother and he’s a notorious cheapskate.

so off in a tangent for your stove fan recommendations then 😉

That’s 99% of the users in the UK. And probably 98% of the woodburnerists on here.

Care to show your working out for that math? 😁
Theres at least three off grid in this thread alone.

ok off mains gas and sewage network then.

Some the comments calling ‘twunt’ tenant farmers on here are quite frankly shocking.

Many tenant farmers live a hand to mouth existence, farming on such marginal land.

Comment. In the singular, thanks. I’ve live (very) local, all of my 56 years and ‘some’ (not all of course but by god they make up for the nice ones and then some) of the local tenant farmers are sadly absolutely bell’s but let’s not let that get in the way. Please don’t take my comment out of context please!

Many do live hand to mouth many also don’t, I wouldn’t want their life but that’s my choice.

but an audit of the number of people that drive to visit and take selfies there compared to the good the tree did

People do actually go there to see the most dramatic sections of Hadrians Wall not just the much less old but (was) perfectly placed tree. Removing the tree won’t massively impact visitor numbers but will cause a drop in midnight photographers bumbling about the place. Which tbh knowing what twunts a few of the tenant farmers are in the vicinity could be their ill thought reasoning for such a terrible overreaction crime.

How many BTU’s per Robin (Just asking in case it’s a future option?)

    mickyfinn

Absolutely I and the three nearby houses have no mains sewerage or gas just electric only (and most of us have solar and battery (because thankfully we can afford it))
Our options are severely limited (My opinion of people who put word burners in where there are actual options is very different to those who use them wisely because they need to)

Yes, use your grossly polluting wood burners because other things are also polluting.

See also Gas,oil, petrol, diesel, all nonerenewable electricity sources (and even they pollute as they must be manufactured)

Most people use grossly polluting sources of fuel in many ways and most of them have a choice. Some people in rural locations have no choice but to include burning wood in their fuel sources.
Here’s a pot of highly polluting tar for you to dip your brush in before you need to use it again.

Apple concerned about data security and customers privacy.

Wow I’ve heard it all now 🤣

Well we’ve certainly heard that you haven’t a clue what you’re talking about that’s for sure.

as is the locked down operating system.

I agree on the cable but they’re being forced to see sense (well my pro had USB-C already)
The locked down OS is exactly the point though Apple make devices (overpriced or not) for (the average) consumers, they have a closed hardware and OS ecosystem to try and ensure the customer has a solid and stable experience. Do they always get it right, of course they don’t but their stance on security and personal data should be applauded.

2 years old posts on the internet makes it fact don’t you know.
I agree that this is the only site on either my MacBook or phone that does this.
I just click to not allow anyway, it’s doesn’t seem to break anything but is bloody annoying.

loving UHE diva, which when linked to a decent controller is almost (but not quite) like a hardware synth.

With this (Admittedly not cheap) 3rd party skin Diva’s usability is improved massively it’s pretty much a knob per function interface and is so much better than the stock interface.
While we’re on U-HE Zebra is just utterly amazing too!

    MONA for Diva

I’m gonna assume you’re not THE Mickey Finn?
I did wonder tbh. That is a lot of kit

    Have you released stuff

Not since the 90’s when I was playing in an EBM/Industrial/Futurepop band.

These days I just make Ambient and piano based stuff for my own pleasure and mental health. I might put it out to the public someday if I ever feel it’s worth it.

No I’m not the DJ/Producer or the deceased T-Rex guitarist 😁

Really that’s not a lot of kit, I’m ver restrained compared to some. Although that is only 1 wall the other one has my Polybrute/Pro3/Virus and Blofeld

    It’s just a daft Nick name 👍🏻

Just play around and let your inhibitions go away.

Ah the expensive wonderful red of Nord 😁

Certainly with knob per function synths. Just twiddling stuff and some you tubing will get you a fair way.

It’s a hobby and an addiction, tbh only the Iridium and the little Dreadbox’s were bought new everything else has been eBay and secondhand bargains.  I can lose hours just making a patch on the Iridium luckily I’ve avoided the modular rabbit hole.

Thank fully most synths are still less expensive than bikes 😉

Nope can’t get the insert image thing to work…

    Synths

But the source mess it created gave me the image URL so I fudged it.

Also the IK Uno Synth punches well above its price point too a friend has one (and the Modal synths above) and they all sound brilliant

I don’t have any Volca’s but it do have:
    ASM Hydrasynth

    Waldorf Iridium

    Waldorf Blofeld

    Novation Peak

    Arturia Microfreak

    Arturia Polybrute

    Sequential Take5

    Sequential Pro3

    Deadbox Typhon

    Dreadbox Hades

    Access Virus

    Roland FP30x Digital Piano

Plus a MioXL midi patch bay so I can control anything from anything.

Advice wise most modern synths are capable of amazing things, the Volca’s are cute and to me the FM and Bass are the pick of the crop.

Personally at this bargain end of the scale the Modal Skulpt SE and Craft Synth are better and more fun.

And as such is like a flipping camp site at this (and tbh most) time of year. Plenty of other spots not too far away though.

@boblo after a very mediocre NHS experience I went for testing at a few high street vendors and a local indie. Would you believe (the testing was all much of a muchness) the best service and lack of hard sell was at Boots (yes I was shocked too) but I guess like all chains it’s all down to the local staff/specialists

My hearing falls off a cliff at 2khz due to many years standing next to a hard hitting drummer in punk bands.

I have expensive aids and they make a huge positive difference. A good audiologist will also make a world of difference.

Ear canal only aids are usually only prescribed for full frequency loss, if you’re only deficient in certain frequencies then your losing out by pumping all of your hearing through the aid.

I had multiple tuning sessions for mine and they work fantastically. On first putting them on it can seem a bit intense but after a few minutes it’s all fine and sounds normal (I expect) when I take them out it really feels like I’ve stuck my fingers in my ears.

Mine are Starkey and I chose that brand as they were recommended by other musicians.

tbh whatever I’d be asking whoever your registrar and dns host is not us lot on here, we can speculate (with some skill as there is lots here) but only the host will have the real answer.

What is your favourite song? Use a line from that to create a long password. Long passwords = better passwords

Except when they’re in easily accessible publicly available places all over the internet ffs….

    Three random words/phrases.
Parkedlikeatwatdogshittinglampost is a very good password made up as I looked out of the train window right now and I’ll likely never forget it. Of course the correct answer is to use a password manager and randoms
