Update, the break was under the top shifter fastening band. There was an indentation in the same place on both sides of the bar. I know this isn’t due to overtightening. Noticed on another forum someone had the same marking.

Pootling along a bridleway on Tuesday, noticed right-hand drop was floppy. Whisky no9 12f bars had just sheared above the shifter!

has anyone got or done the mini route wondering about doing it with my lad, but he is a bit nervous about it

Was up there yesterday, the routes are all marked now. Looks like the mini route splits from the rest after the big climb up from Plowden and carries straight on across the airfield then turns down Minton (not MB) to the finish.

Oh yes should mention I’d forgotten how little shade there is on the Mynd, make sure you take plenty of sun cream!

Being an adult is hard work isn’t it

Who said I was an adult?

Should of done it your self

You’re right, but I’d rather be out riding than gardening!

What did you ask him to do?

    weed!,

Got him to come around today and explain himself. He has accepted he shouldn’t have done it as we did only ask him to weed. He couldn’t explain why he had done something so drastic, just said it would grow back in a few years!

Anyway bottom line is, after some pressure he’s agree to pay for a new mature lilac tree and hollybush

garden after I’d removed the rubbish

He would only blame the travellers who have pitched up on your drive

    What’s wrong with travellers?

I can’t actually see where he is saying he’d ‘try to sue their ass’ (in Drac’s words) or in fact any ref to taking court action of any sort.

Only thing I see is him asking for suggestions, but only legal ones. ie not “smash his windows/kill his wife”, but hey-ho. You just jump straight in there Drac, feet first, god forbid if anyone ever made you a forum modera……..oh!.

Yes exactly I didn’t say I was going to sue just didn’t want suggestions saying “go and thump him”

    Pay him.

And next time you need to be clearer about what you want doing.

    Your fault.

He’s a professional gardener, it’s what he does foe a living. We made it absolutely clear what we wanted him to do. We specifically told him we didn’t want bushes or trees lopping or removing.

why not plant some fast growing conifers behind shed

yep that’s the plan, but really we want him to come back and reinstate things! Not as easy as if somebody cocks things up repairing a bike or car!

Yeah, stop over reacting what are you hoping to achieve by taking legal action?

So you would be happy for someone to chop down a 6 foot high hollybush, a tree and remove an ornamental hedge without permission?

Let me know where you live I’ll send him around to do some gardening!

You have a caravan therefore deserve everything you get.

    Maybe you’re right

    what order and how close?

Very close, bumper to bumper, but interestingly the Volvo estate was leading and actual went past the lorry in front of me but the two 4×4’s had to wait due to oncoming traffic, they soon caught up though.

Whats Motts road like as a descent ?

It's OK to do once but I wouldn't do it at a weekend as it would be full of walkers

Just be aware that it is still marked as a foot path and a lot of people don't know it's been re-classified a "permissive bridleway"

It has recently been marked as a bridleway "on the ground" by the Council who have now numbered all the bridleways on the Long Mynd.

All the posts up there marked with "Ride UK" are bridleways

How did you get on Mick?

Set myself a target of 10 laps, after 2 felt that was pretty conservative but then had a hamstring problem, detailed elsewhere, that meant that in the end I was happy with 10, really enjoyed it and once I've sorted the hamstring out will be back for more

First solo event, no training and little riding leading upto the event. Set myself a target of 10 laps which seemed very conservative after I'd done two laps but then had what is a reoccuring problem with my hamstring getting very tight and sore on the third lap and despite having a massage and resting it only managed my target 10 laps.

Anybody got any suggestions for sorting out hamstrings, had a problem with the same one on and off for a while……sports injury specialist?
