I used Formula rotors for a while as they came with the brakes, but they seemed to warp quite easily.

Got some two piece ones and they seemed to be sturdier, but they are more the lightweight XC type so they don’t have the biggest braking area on the disc, lots of cut out metal.

I’ll see what’s around. Oh I also like the colour options on two piece discs!

Are they both about the same width though? Or are the Hope ones a bit fatter??

I’ve read some people having to file down parts of the caliper etc.

Yeah, a lot of bikes bigger than the riders abilities

OP, You have the patience of a saint.

    Thaaanks 😳

Have to say I think I preferred the qualifying run . It was more of a bucket list event for me, and bloody happy I managed to finish it first time. The queues of riders did get a bit old in the main race.

20 years after moving over to the UK from Dublin, it did make me grin to hear someone say ‘f*ckin’ eejit’ on a Megavalanche vid

Haha yeah was just the first thing that came to my head! Looked like he hadn’t looked up the trail at all.

worse queues than a weekend shopping with the missus

    😆 😆

Tell me, is it worth the hassle of the trail-mincers and traffic jams?

What happened to the dude with his hand in your wheel??!

It’s soo worth it if you just think of it as a fun week of riding in the alps, rather than being so focused on the main event (which is what I was advised to do as it was my first time). The riding there is just amazing and its just a really fun week.

Erm, I saw in my peripheral vision – he fell on the switchback and looked like he grabbed the back of my bike in an attempt to stop himself falling into oblivion 😀 . He seemed ok, not the best move though.

That would do my head in! All the people shouting at you to get a move on when there is a blatant jam, then people stopping at obstacles when there is no bottle neck

Yeah that does do your head in a bit. I’ve heard it’s not a problem if you’re in a top 20 out of the start, but bit of a chicken and egg situation as bloody hard to get in the top 20.

So…. any others making their way there from Lyon on Sunday afternoon??

    Want to join forces? Cheers

Cheers. Although as I mentioned, the reach is 5mm shorter on my new rig, 1cm if you count the sweep on the bars.

Maybe reach is getting shorter again?

Now the big question. Will the bus take a bike bag… 😕 .

When are you thinking of arriving and leaving?

Sat afternoon to Sunday afternoon preferably! But if staying an extra night at either end would help to get a lift then I’d be open to that.

If you have no luck there is a bus service from Bristol Airport.

Bus from Bristol airport to Plymouth?! 😯 🙂 😀

Sorry, it was cyclist mag last month

Ah I see, that explains it. I bought July issue of Cycling plus and couldn’t see it. Thanks I’ll have a search online first!

but if you are not doing that I would just ride your road bike. Plenty of incredible cols that you can ride.

Hmm thinking of doing a few days of each actually.

Current Cycling Plus has a feature of an alternate gravel climb to the top…..

Would that be online too or magazine only??

    🙂

If you haven’t cancelled the entry, sack off qualifying or just let everybody past and take your time, you’ll then be in the affinity race where you can start when you want and bimble down in your own time if you want.

Not a bad idea but don’t really fancy that if I’m being honest 😳 .

Thanks but not the easiest map to read. Hard to tell which ones are XC and which are Enduro/downhill?

Cool. I’d like tough long climbs, and not too tough descents as I can’t afford to crash at all (bone still fusing together).

I’d have a serious look at the new trek procaliber

Yeah just had a look at the 9.8 pro cal there. Seems the same price and possibly marginally better spec. Does the dale take it overall because of the lefty though??

And it will be for marathon and 24 hour racing. I’m used to 24 solo on a hardtail, mind 😉 .

Cheers. Was that last year’s model? Or the year before? Never ridden the lefty myself but I’m expecting great things!

I think half the issue is that It’s not even sore anymore most of the time, and I can move it about a lot more than I thought I’d be able to at this stage without any pain, so I’m possibly being lulled into a false sense of confidence about being able to do the Mega.

So you had the op on the 16th May and the Megavalanche starts on the 4th July, right?

That’s correct. I’ve started getting laser treatment on the bone itself and the muscles around the shoulder, which I was told can take some time off the healing process. One whole week maybe?

Although I am thinking about maybe doing road out there for a few days and only doing about 2 or 3 days off road. The quali and race day. I’ll see how I am, also considering just doing road and XC type riding out there, but the thought of that frustrates me a bit 👿 .

My surgeon had me road riding on my MTB after a few days, but that was one handed with the other tightly bound up in a sling.

Did your surgeon know you were riding like that though? 😆

Ive ridden the Raven trail at Brechfa twice. Really love it but it doesn’t seem to ride well in the wet, gets very bogged down and sticky in places.

Go there but if its really wet I would do the blue loop twice instead.

On paper Audioslave should have been the greatest band in the history of rock, but they weren’t.

Highly under rated band, IMO. Cochise is amaze balls!!

Was covered here a few days ago 😛 .

No Zack De La Rocha though, who makes the sound of Rage unique IMO. Apart from Morellos riffs…

To be fair, how small the gap was or is, is all down to different peoples perspectives and interpretations.

It might not have been that bad.

Support it while it heals or stop further breakages. Most collarbone breaks come from putting your hand out and the shock transferring up the arm, not an impact on the bone itself, very hard to protect against.

I know its not going to protect it from secondary impact, but more shoulder protection and protection around the collarbone itself should help. Just don’t want (and can’t get) a direct impact in the recovering clavicle and shoulder area in general.

Cheers but POC is bloody expensive, also i’m guessing the spine vest doesn’t have great collarbone protection?
