I’m glad I bought my Line Prophets the year I did, the new ones looks god awful imo, cheesy graphics… which seems to be a bit of a trend in skis these days!

Well movies seem to be dying out a bit in the mtb world but they seem to be going strong in the ski world! New Teton film…

Oh a better way of putting it, if only I was lucky enough to have the right snow conditions every day to justify that as a one ski quiver!!! 😀 ..I’m sure they suck for carving in the sunshine.

Love the look of the new Bent Chetler!!! If only I was lucky enough to have these as my one quiver ski 🙁 .

Hey cheers Sam, I actually have a full tri wetsuit already, got it from a surf shop I worked in a few years ago who practically gave it to me.
What to wear under it is kinda doing my head in.

I entered the oly but miiiight switch to the sprint.

    Nice thread deadly!!!

Did you establish what you are going to wear under your wetsuit, if anything? Not sure if I should wear full on bike bib shorts or something a bit lighter.

Nice!! Guessing I need to put something like vaseline around my neck though??

How’s your sighting in open water?

Not sure tbh!!! I imagine its ok, I have spent a fair amount of time in the sea doing other water sports.

OHs Toshiba Satellite feels horrible and cheap

    Yep, mines a Satellite…

So Macs cost a lot more but they last a lot longer?

I really hate the cheap plastic feel of my Toshiba, works nice apart from that though.

Back to the skis being stolen thing though, I’d urge everyone to either get a lock or split them with someone else. Mine were stolen in Verbier of all places, thought it would be safer there.

    Do boards get stolen much?

Maybe a lot less bikes get stolen compared to skis, relatively speaking?

As in, being stolen to order? Crikey!

That’s the impression I got from talking to some of the staff from Altitude ski school who were on the same course as me. Seems quite sickening…

I just want to warn other skiers that the ski thieves seem to be out there. I had a pair of new skis stolen at Verbier this last season, I never used to use a ski lock but I will from now on. Insurance didn’t cover them as I wasn’t looking at them at the time and didn’t have them locked.
So I advise that everyone locks their skis up or pairs them up with someone else to we can try and avoid this happening to lots of other people.

Just bought some Head Titan skis.

Be careful, my new Titans got stolen in Verbier just this last season, they were the most recent model. Big demand for them on the 2nd hand market so I’ve been told.

A cracked rear carbon rim on the first day after screaming into a rock garden way too fast

Why the hell would you choose a carbon rim for this kind of event?! 🙄 😯

And I’m guessing you just wore out your brake pads and not broke them.

Where are you heading and what do you plan to ride?

I’ll be based in Wollongong, for a year or maybe more, so flying into Sydney. I’m not sure what the riding’s like around there but I’m pretty sure that there is some anyway.

Some good replys so far chaps thanks, by the sounds of it it shouldn’t be as much hassle as I had originally thought.

Do you have to say how much you’re bike is worth or anything?

Anyone ever used a courier service to take their bike over?

I had dry mud on my tyres/wheels and the guy took them away and washed them for me!

Sweet! Might not be a bad idea to just let them wash it for me then! 😆 😉

but I just couldn’t face the thought of another three laps

The key for me is to just think of it like a really long bike ride, or bike race for that matter. If you come around the start/finish every time and think, oh no – I’ve got to do another lap, it makes it much harder IMO.

Do. Not. Overtake. Lorries. On. The. Inside…

Or… do not turn left if you aren’t sure whats beside you 😉 .

I get your point, but I can’t help thinking it could have been avoided if the driver had a better look around. Its an area where traffic moves slowly so they were both likely travelling at similar speeds, the bike could have been along side the lorry for a considerable amount of time for all we know.

How is cycle safety viewed in Ireland?

It’s getting better, a few ad campaigns for vehicles to watch out for bikes more.

We did a 3 day one with about 50% off road, our route was Whitehaven to Penrith, Penrith to Allenheads, Allenheads to Whitly Bay. You could probably plan your route to have more off road than we did, but I think we had a nice mix and all off road would increase your saddle time significantly.

If you’re talking about Wheelies in Swansea, I always thought they were a bit funny in there and just keen on getting you to spend more money. Schmoos is a much better shop IMO, the guy in there is really sound too.

If I have to keep looking at those five wee white markers flying across the top of my page while I wait for an email to open/delete, or do anything else, I think I’ll scream!

    My thoughts exactly…
