Seriouly, if you’re spunking £300 on a camera, do a bit of reading first.

Thats what I’m hoping to do with this thread? 🙄

Find out peoples own views on them rather than a biased view.

Thanks but most of that comparison chart looks like a different language to me. Are they trying to be patronising to us normal folk? 😐

But is the 3 much better than the 2 etc?

Theres an instructor deal for Prior? No one told me that!!! 😀

Yes I have, at the end of the day its full time work, and the only other offer I had was a few weeks with interski, but I couldn’t get a four week block so they would have been spaced out which would have sucked. Anyway I’m really excited to be going back to Canada! And they do tip over there from past experience! 🙂

Oh how I’d kill for a set of these Prior skis with custom graphics!!! (Not literally of course!)

Might have to pick up a pair this year depending on how the tips go 😉 .

Another question. Is it worth buying own skis nowadays or are the rental ones so good, this is for a person that only goes a couple of weeks a year?

Pros and cons to each really. I bought my own skis for the first time when I was doing a season so knew I wouldn’t have to deal with all the airport faffing around. Some rental skis can be really good and the current season models, but from my experience a lot or most rental places only have piste skis so not good if you feel like playing in the deeper stuff. And they can also be very busy places as we all know, flashy mentioned you could maybe go back and change for phatt skis on a pow day but Ive found sometimes they don’t have any other skis in your size apart from the ones you have out!

But on the other hand, if you’re only going away for a couple of weeks a year you’ll most likely spend the first day or two finding your feet again. Add to that equation rental skis that you aren’t familiar with (presuming you go down the rental route), it could be an extra half day at least finding out how you get on with the skis you’ve never had before and what you can get away with on them etc. If you really want to progress your skiing I’d say make the effort to get your own, but if you’re purely just doing it for the fun then I’d say stick with rentals.

Beware though, it gets a bit like the bike buying addiction in that you’ll want a different pair of skis for every condition 😉 .

    Hey Bunnyhop!!!

Speaking from what my lady friends like and use, I’d suggest something like the Salomon Lady (Which is called the Q line this year by the looks of things), or the K2 Miss-behaved or Miss-demeanor (Which are now called the Superstitious and Superbright). I imagine something about 80 – 90 mm underfoot would be best!
If you know what you want you could get a good deal on last years skis.

Question; Are there rigs these days which can be set up hassle free with minimal fuss? Been a fair few years since Ive even rigged one. 😕

Kiteboarding is essentially a slightly lame relative of windsurfing

    😆

My cars don’t feel right unless they’re full of sand and smell slightly damp.

I can see myself heading that way some day.

Cheers for all the info though, looks like it definitely can be done! Separating the mast before and after every trip might get old quickly though.

On the movies front, Eye Trip from two seasons ago is still my fav, don’t see any movie topping that IMO!! Sunny was amazing too but I got bored of it quicker….

And cheers greg will do!! Might pick your brains a bit.

So I got offered full time instructing work at Mt Seymour over in Canada! I know it might seem a bit lame compared to whistler where I’ve spent a season but should still be sweet as there doesn’t seem to be many jobs going in the Alps.

Now the question of do I take it or not? 😛

the board will fit easy in to a car and its more fun than windsurfing bigger wind range etc

I am tempted by the ease of transporting kitesurf gear, but I’m pretty sure windsurfers can sail in a bigger wind range, you would need about five sails though.

You shouldn’t need to take it off at all once you have it on, the good quality ones like my north face one are quite breathable and I don’t tend to over heat in it ever.

What temps you working in 10?? The north face down jacket works a treat under mine but only if it goes below -15 or so.

Thanks yeah I’ve been on google loads, just hoping to make direct contact with someone here. It is a bit depressing that there seems to be far more ski instructor courses than there are jobs! 👿

Dont wanna go too budget but dont wanna go crazy either. Main things Im after is a good camera, social networking sites, general browsing (as the wifi in our house is so bad I think I’d be better off using data on a phone), and also skype and whatsapp. Would also like to use it for music but that isn’t a huge deal breaker.

My wife didn’t want a windows phone because it doesn’t have candy
    crush!!!

I can gladly say I’ve never played that! 😀

iPhone – I took a long time to move from Blackerry (email was important) and I tried an Android phone (which was awful but to be fair it was the hardware)

Thats not really comparing like with like though as you said yourself! What about comparing an iphone to a Samsung Galaxy, I think that would be a fairer comparison?
