I’ve been riding Speedplays for a few years now (on my second pair), I’m a big fan. They are a bit more expensive than the cheapo Looks and Shims, but if you have any kind of dodgy knees at all then they are well worth it.

Still doesn’t seem to be working 😡 . Results appear for a second and then disappear.

Weird. Same for me in Chrome and Firefox.

Pearl Izumi jerseys. Nice half zipper and they have a really nice road/XC fit, with nice graphics imo. Madison sell them.

Cheers chaps. Still a bit up in the air regarding where I’ll be going!

The gf doesn’t want to go anymore, so the Alps is now an option 🙂 .

Any recommend any guiding road bike companies in the Basque, Mallorca or Bourg d’Oisans? Cheers.

Still open to more options or more detail about the current suggestions! It seems like a bit of a minefield.

Mackem, did you ride that yourself? How did you find it? Looks like a big climb alright, only problem is its in miles.

Basque country and Gran Canaria both sound tasty. Either of you got any links for routes from Map My Ride or the likes?

I have Times. They’ll be running smoothly after the apocalypse.

Which ones you using? I run them on all my mtbs. I usually get about two years out of them, I’m bad at servicing them mind.

Aren’t the speedplay ones just an “open them up, swap the bearings, close them back up” job?

I’d have to change the axil now too though as left it too long without a service. I think new ones it is then!

    iron bike (italy)

I happen to have done that before (last year), and I still think never again. Totally bananas!

And I “service”, I’m kinda more referring to waiting till the point that they need new bearings etc, as opposed to a regular grease 😆 .

I think I will use one of the 29ers for the first enduro, but its a short travel one so could be a bit sketchy.

Something I think about as much as ‘how much do I spend on pizza and beer’? Maths identified in buzzkill incident

What kind of pizza and beer are you buying???? Are you buying 2000 quid pizzas? How is that a comparison at all.

My motorbikes? Err, that’s at the other end of the scale. Especially the race bike.

    I can imagine!! 😯

Also the fact that I was planning (and still am if I get another bike), to race mtb XC NPS, road, and gravity enduro races over the summer. I think it’s more of a time thing for me.

You know the answer is to ride more.

Or own less bikes 😉 . Not sure if you noticed where I mentioned that I already have two 29ers and a road bike! Pretty much every weekend of my summer is booked up for racing one of them.

Where in NSW are these places? Never heard of em.

Exactly what I was thinking! 😆

Did you recalibrate it? Sometimes that’s all it needs.

A bit out of my price range! Even the cheaper models. 😥

Fitness is a very small part of enduro racing imo. Any old fart can get up the hills in the allowed time, although the top riders probably have a handy sprint on them to pedal large parts of the descents. Bike handling skills are way more important in enduro I think.

I really liked my pair of bibs by them, until I left them behind at one of the campsites at Ironbike 🙁 .

Can anyone find youtube footage of the part of the trail this happened at? I’d be interested to see it 🙂 .

Nice one Frog!!! Enough there for a weekend then? Just saw a video of the proline in youtube, intense looking. Enter the dragon looks nice but some of the jumps look like they aren’t shaped all that well in terms of flow.

Eh? I should note that I’m hoping for something a bit more technical than most trail centres Ive been to.

I can’t quite tell from that angle but could be it! Thanks! Just one of those small things I needed to know.

No, not those either 🙁 . It was more a dent inwards like a small inverted cone almost. Hard to explain! Think of half a 3D drawing of a black hole, that kind of thing.

I believe the idea is to lighten the tips to get faster changes of direction. Either way, Kastle skis are lovely to ski, but they do look a little ‘Hedge fund manager’s skis’ for my liking!

Hey Flashy, no it wasn’t the Kastles! I like those skis though. It looked more like someone got a hammer and put a dent in the tip (at the part thats off the snow). Just a bit odd looking and I’m trying to remember who made them. Saw a few of them last season and the season before, haven’t been as aware of them this season.

Re the other thing, I call myself a ‘biker’ since I’m a mountain biker, so its makes sense for me to call snowboarders ‘boarders’ 😛 .

    the grocer’s apostrophe

    Explain please?

I use it in messages now and again when I’m implying that there’s something more to come after a pause…

Yeah thats the only time I’d really use it.

Also, can anyone remember who makes the skis with the weird looking dent in the tip? Like it was beaten in with a hammer or something? Was just talking about them to a mate but couldn’t remember who makes them.

Two things I’ve noticed this season. 1) It looks like snowboard pants are getting tighter and ski pants are getting looser? A lot of the boarders in my resort this season are rocking the tight pants. Orage ones this year all look pretty tight. Doesn’t seem to fit the boarder image to me.

2), What’s with all the bright neon jackets and pants on the slopes??? It just looks a bit wrong to me. Neon yellow should be kept to construction sites and builders yards, imo.

And lastly, one small thing that does my head in a bit. The way skiers are called skiers and snowboarders are called ‘riders’. We are all riding the mountain and I think its just snowboarders way of trying to be a bit superior over us?

Slight hijack – What is the course like at the new venue? I remember thinking the old course was as boring as watching paint dry.
