It also depends on whether the original poster shared the video with ‘public’ or ‘just friends’, etc.

I do Bikram yoga every once in a while, usually about once a month, sometimes twice a week, sometimes go a year without doing it, (as its bloody expensive). I find it helps to keep back and joint pain away if Ive been training hard or racing. But Stretching regularly and doing a TRX workout usually helps with this! And its much cheaper.

Usually about 26-29 KM/H average speed for me, on 2-4 hour rides.

I presume a big advantage of Di2 Is that there are no cables that stretch or wear out, no build up of dirt in the cable housing etc. Can anyone speak for this?

Can you not get the lbs to sort you out a demo bike with mechanical ultegra on it? Only you really can decide if it’s worth it for you.

I can take out a bike with new 105 on it for a short spin tomorrow, which I’m told is basically the same as Ultegra.

What do you mean still waiting on a few replies? You’ve asked 3 questions.

I meant replies to my last reply, lol.

Bump! Still waiting on a few replies. What things are likely to go wrong with Di2 over the years? Apart from parts breaking in a crash etc.

plus Di2 is butt ugly as also mentioned above

Agreed – never used Di2 … but it looks clumpy and ugly.

Are you guys referring to the older version a year or two ago? The one I had on the demo bike looked pretty clean, cleaner than mechanical with it having no cables imo.

I have Ultegra 6800 mechanical on one bike & 6800 Di2 on another.
If I was in your position I would save the money & fit mechanical 6800.
I’ve only had two rides on it & its just different not hugely better. I’d have been just as happy with the same bike & mechanical 6800 with more cash left in my pocket.

All seems in favor of Di2 apart from this. I’m not wanting to hear anything in particular, but I am slightly surprised by this. How much more effort is it to shift with the mechanical? I like how you only have to tap the Di2.

but you can’t be that bad at servicing if you’re still rocking 12 year old dura ace*.

I literally never look at it unless the gears and or brakes get shockingly bad lol.. which is usually once or twice a year!

**** ugly looking thing though and I like my bikes purr-retty

Yeah that does seem to be the main downfall to them!

Oh gawd those Rose bikes are a bit of an eye sore imo.

Don’t buy from an lbs then!!

    Touche!

Well as long as they’re not being assembled by a 6 year old kid in a factory in India or something like that 😀 . Joking aside, I’d like to be sure all staff workers involved are getting paid a fair wage. But if they are cutting costs by only leaving out the middle man and lbs, then there’s probably more chance they are all in good working conditions etc. Don’t have the conscience to buy a bike if workers involved are getting a crap wage…. same reason I’m wary of buying super cheap clothes.

Well I certainly think he’s made for riding a bike, talking doesn’t seem to be one of his strengths to say the least.

A year ago I would have said ‘almost any Nukeproof’. I think the designs are much nicer this year though. They’re finally moving away from that yellow!

Have to disagree there! The 15 ones look a lot worse than the 14 ones imo.

All TT bikes that have the seatpost/saddle like this.

Have to agree there. That bike is gopping!

    Jones bikes. Hideous and expensive.

    Yep.

it looks, well, not like £4.5k worth of bike should look?
    Maybe it’s just me…

    I’d agree there.

the amount you are having to pay for some of the shit that is out there i think i want it to look good as well as ride good.
i find everyone seems to want to put as many clashing colours as they can CUBE being one they may be good but it is not coming through my door.

    Well said Sir.

I care more about how it rides.
It’s a bike not a handbag after all.

Yeah well try applying the same logic to cars. I bet a lot of cars wouldn’t be as popular if they looked horrid.

Not sure if you ever got a jacket sorted Michael but SportPursuit have just got a bunch more Powderhorn stuff in, including the Corbet jacket at £189.

Hey, got sorted in the end thanks. After speaking to a woman on the phone to Amazon who told me the jacket I had ordered couldn’t be sent out because it was no longer in stock (Corbet in size M), it arrived out a few days later 🙂 . Not even sure I was charged for it, as the woman said she would process the refund. But I now have a Corbet jacket in size M and am very happy with it!

Do you not ride it in the wet because it might damage the carbon frame? Or is it to prolong the life the gears? I’ve only ever had one ride bike at a time so don’t really understand by the way!
    And nice pics above!

What exactly do you mean? I thought it was gear set up that made a bike loud or not.

Most of my shifts are 12 hours long so we only work 7 out of every 14 days…loads of riding time and quiet trails!

Sounds good I’m getting excited about it already! Not sure how I’ll react to the night shifts though. I’m guessing they take a while to get used to? I’m hoping my 24 hour racing experience will help me out a bit 😛 .

worked for SWASFT for 10 years in various roles now

Have you always been based in the same place? How much say do you get in the matter?

And I actually work for SWASFT if that matters.

Nice. How long have you been with them? It looks like theres opportunity to advance into a different area, like bicycle paramedic 😀 .

So you work 24 hours a week?

And I don’t mind riding on my tobler.

Cornices are formed by snow carried by wind.

And how is this said wind going to carry the snow if it hasn’t fallen out of the sky at all 🙄 .

Friend of a friend was caught in an avalanche a few years ago when with a guide. He had a bad feeling about it, but trusted the guide and dropped in. Subsequent avalanche took him over a cliff and he’s paralysed from the waist down.

Scary enough. I’d like to know if anyone has any stats on number of avalanche injuries or deaths with a guide. In a way you’d have to wonder why he chose a line above a cliff though.
