It seems to be a fast course but not overly technical, well faster than a lot of other Irish riding which is often tight and tech.

I think it works to some extent, but i think its slightly old school now. I’d try to eat way more pasta and rice etc in the 36-48 hours before the event start time. Done it for 24s in the past.
I think people are now moving more towards training and teaching your body to burn fats as fuel during specific training, but that takes time.

Was hoping the timeline would go something like – indoor trainer after 10 days, road bike after 3 weeks and mtb after 5 to 6.

PS was anyone happy with their tyre setup for this?? Looking for a new setup for the wet. My WTB Vigilante and Breakout combo didn’t work so well in the porridge and peanut butter on stage 3.

I’ve done the Dyfi enduro 3 times and did the BES one over the weekend for the first time. Both totally different formats.

Similar distance and climbing but you can multiply the technicality levels of the downhills in the BES by about 10!

The top of stage 1/6 was all freshly cut and nearly unrideable in the wet.

I loved stages two and four! Stages three and 1/6 were a bit of a write off for me. Overall pretty technical riding but great fun.

I wasn’t a fan of the awful neon green ones at the UK marathon events last year mind! Those have never been out the front door since.

I’d prefer pay an extra few quid and get an event tee.

There’s no reason the off side rider should be close to the white line though. As in nearly in the middle of the road!

I think you’ve got it wrong there.

I’ve seen this point argued before and the thing is, if a group of ten riders are all single file, the vehicle passing them out will have to stay over the white line for a lot longer (putting both at more danger) when compared to the cyclists being two abreast. That is providing you are giving them enough room in the first scenario 🙄 .

If you’re mentioning all venues in Wales that have trails, then the Black Mountains cycle centre deserves a mention.

Well I had a cracker of a day at BMCC today. Got about 12 or 13 runs in?! No arm pump, just high on the rush you get out of riding there!! All the jumps flow so nicely together. Its a very low key place and there isn’t really any centre or base, just a field. The trails make up for it though IMO!

Just do the two days back to back, you’ll recover and be stronger in the long run 😉 😉 .

It looks like my options are uplift or push up at BMCC
OR push up/ride up for the day at BPW.

Weather looks to be cloudy.

Not sure on comparisons on the midsole from shoe to shoe! Both Sidis and both medium range I would say. Unless they’ve made any major changes in the last while!

I transferred over the insole from the older shoes which were pricey ones from a physio a few years ago so shouldn’t really be any major problems there?!

See the thing is, I bought some replacement ones about two years ago (before the original ones failed), which looked the same, but the plastic strap didn’t fit through properly. I’m guessing the straps have got a few mm narrower on newer models too – so that’s put me off in getting anything other than a suitable replacement, unless I can be sure it fits.

It would make sense for them all to just be interchangeable, the mind boggles 🙄 . All about money I guess sadly like most things.
