Do you have a lot of ink work yourself? To get into tattooing you’ll need find a good local studio..make friends with them..get a lot of work done (no kne trusts an un inked tattooist) and then hopefully get an apprentice postion for 2-3 years…as its such a sought after job, expect to be an unpaid dogs body or absolute minimum wage slave for at least 12-18 months as you will be doing no fee earning work so will basically be an overheadfor a tattoo business.

The other thing to bear in mind is that a good artist doea not alsways translate into a good tattoo artist as you need to learn how to work in 3d and look at the body below and the image will work or not work as the person moves…the best tats flow with the body, rather than a lot of stuff you see which is just plonked on

    good luck

edit..do not even think about trying home tattoing without years of experience as you fk somones skin for life

THIS^^^^^^ is probably this most sense posted on STW this week.

Thanks to excellent union leadership, LU has yet to compete in a race to the bottom. Meanwhile you have to waste time recruiting a replacement.

And it all worked so well in the end for every other major union and the workforce/industry it ‘protects’ – coal? entire British motor industry……?

Well the young lady that used to work in a team of mine who left to become a Customer Service Representative working at the stations for £5k more (than she was earning in a similar but office based role)and the 10 Weeks Holiday and less hours a week may disagree with you

If you paid your staff properly, perhaps they wouldn’t be in such a hurry to leave.

Where the hell else can you get paid a very reasonable salary (for an entry level customer service role), and get 10 weeks holiday, heathcare and pension???

Nowhere which is why there’s a massive waiting list for those jobs. She was interviewed and then waited 2 years bfore they found her a position.

They’re NOT overpaid, or even well paid

some tom tom’s had built in bluetooth to act as a handsfree kit which probably explaints the microphone.

Dont just cut if the wires are live, you need to trace it back to where its been cut in to the cars loom and remove properly.

Michael, on modern turbo diesels, glow plugs are used extensively at a whole range of temps for emission controls- and not just for starting.

Having worked for the aforementioned Manufacturer as a Technical Engineer, I agree some do – for emission purposes. However when doing so they don’t display the ‘Glowplug’ light anyway.

BUT the lack of opperational glowplugs will make F-All difference to the starting/running of the vehicle unless it’s in double digit minus temperatues.

    michaelbowden

Glow plugs do next to nothing unless the temp is below -5C and even then they will only be on for a few seconds. I’d discount this as a problem.

I guess you have a lack of fuel pressure which can be several things, as Spooky said air leak or blocked fuel filter, worn HP pump or leaking injectors.

    Get the fault codes read.

I had one in my stumpy. It creaked like hell, they recommend glueing it in which I don’t like the idea of. I replaced it with a praxis works one which has been perfect for 6 months.

Anyway, I have been wearing the watch for a good few years but now it has started losing so much time that it really is just jewellery – and right how I can’t find the 500 quid to stump up to get it serviced, which is a pity.

I recommend Duncan Potter at Genesis Watchmaking. He worked on both my Grandfathers 1950’s Omega and 1930’s Rolex for me and did a fantastic job. He is Rolex trained and independantly accredited.

I have used LHM for years and can’t tell the difference on lever feel. Interestingly if you follow the link on the Halfords site to the COSH data sheet for Shimano oil it gives you this

    Shimano data sheet

Which is a Shell product that is mineral based and has (if you can be bothered to go to the Shell site) a very similar viscosity to LHM – actually it’s slightly thicker.

So take what you want from that

Pretty much nobody apart from Tavish Scott, the LibDem MSP, thinks Shetland should become independent from an independent Scotland.

Say’s who Ben? Have the Islanders been given the opportunity to say? are they getting a seperate vote? They are as far from Edinburgh as Edinburgh is from London…..

Don’t get me wrong if the Scottish (or the Welsh, Northern Irish, Shetlanders, Hebridians, Falklanders) want independance then they should be alowed to have it. I think it would be a sad day 🙁

BUT it has to be all or nothing. Seperate currency (call it Sterling if you wish), seperate heathcare, seperate forces, etc etc. A region of the UK can’t demand to be independant but still expect to keep the bits that are convienient/will be easier/work better for them.

McCrone also raises the interesting idea of the Shetlanders opting to stay part of the union even if the rest of Scotland chose otherwise which is interesting if unlikely (?)

I remember reading (I have no idea where now) a journalist putting this proposition to Alec and asking how that would affect Scotland’s economic viability. On the premise that virtually all NS Oil falls in the Shetlands/Hebrides territorial waters not the Scottish mainland’s.

As I recall (and I’m simplifying here but not much) his reply was, ‘Well they can’t – they’re part of Scotland.’

Doesn’t this somewhat fly in the face of his ‘Scotland should be allowed to decide if it wants to be independant’ mantra?

In this case the bearings in the turbo collapsed it wasn’t down to oil starvation as they weren’t dry.

They are rarely dry, the oil helps to cool the bearing too, unsfficient flow/pressure can/will cause the bearing to overheat and fail. You might be lucky and have a faulty turbo, but unless your mechanic has followed the PSA procedure or something very similar I’ll be surprised if it is.

IF the turbo is faulty, then you should be paying nothing for its replacement.

Chrisdiesel ^^^ works (I assume still does) for a large PSA owned dealership and I worked in the technical dept @ head office

do a search on the 1.6HDI PSA (citroen/peugeot) engine and turbo failures(that’s what yours is)and you’ll find loads.

The turbo will be failing due to poor oil flow, caused by the oilways blocking up with carbon deposits caused by extended periods between oil changes or from not using fully syntheic oil.

There is a is a specific procedure to be carrried out when changing the turbo that involved mutiple flushes of the oil system and replacing oil pipes. If this is not done the turbo’s will just keep failing. It’s about 9 hrs work!

Back in June I bought an overly powerful german RWD car. One of the first things i did was to buy
    4 secondhand alloy’s from eBay – £200
4 part worn (5-6mm tread) Dunlop winter runflats £100 (I got a mega bargain but it was June)
Fitted at a local tyre place £40

So for £340 (less than the retail cost of one of my rear summer tyres) I’m in a much safer place than I would have been. I’ll also add weight to the boot.

I estimate I’ll get two winters from the part worns, when they need replacing I’ll buy another set in the summer months.

    I fitted them this weekend.

What! That’s terrible news. They did the best cheesy chips ever.

On a serious note if it’s not just for a refurb I’ll be surprised, their volume of business must have increased over the last few years.

Loeb tested for Toro Rosso a few years ago. FIA wouldn’t grant him a super licence due to a lack of circuit experience. Think red bull were seriously considering him for an f1 drive.

So did Rossi for Ferarri, I seem to recall both were within 0.5 second of the time set by the race driver at the same test. Which in their first outing in a F1 car is staggering.

But (again) if you go to the Continental EU Performance Label checker their winter tyres seem to perform worse on both wet grip and durability than their summer tyres. Whassup widdat?

Because the EU test is done at something like 18 degrees, NOT below 7 where winter tyres come in to their own!

I have my wife’s Greandfathers Seamaster from 1955. Lovely piece he wore it every day and never had it serviced.

When I was given it a few years ago it wan’t running too well so sent it off. The only parts replaced were the crystal which had a chip and the crown because its seal had perished. Very much a special day watch.
