I’m running a mid seventies pair of Celestion Ditton 66’s, and a mid/late 80’s pair of Ruarks on a second system.

For the money I paid for the 66’s I’d have to pay an absolute fortune too get even close to the range and quality they give. But then they were probably close to £1500 when new.

The Ruarks are a great pair of bookshelf speakers.

I’ve used the red and the clear with standard Hope fittings on two bikes all fine here

    Hi

I had mine running with the Hope C2 No.1 caliper from memory which bolted directly to the chainstay mounts. There is/was a guy on retrobike (Gil???) who made up some dropouts to take a standard IS mount caliper.

I don’t think there are any calipers other than the specific Hope C2 one that will fit to the chainstay mounts. I think they are spaced the same as current postmount.

You need to be careful with the baking temp when powder coating alu. Get it too hot and it will affect the heat treating.

I have had this problem with Stans rims and alloy spoke nipples. Make sure the wheel builder uses thread lock or similar to stop them loosening

36″ Panasonic here. Still beats every HD LCD/LED I’ve seen. ONly some of the very expensive plasma’s are better

If it’s a common rail HDi engine the glow plus aren’t really used until very low temperatures.

For example, in most of the PSA Group’s HDi engines the glowplugs aren’t used at all for starting purposes* until circa -5.

*In some of the engines they do operate after start-up to help reduce emissions.

Yep easily replaceable, you might find if you strip it that it’s just some dirt under the seal. If there is no damage you might get away with just clean, refit and bleed.

I’m really gutted, been planning this all year. I did the race at Sauze d’Oulx last year and it was great.

Funny each to their own I guess, I was really disappointed by the amount of height lost on tarmac and forest roads. And that field push in Rich’s last picture was miserable. The bit through the woods and the slippy descents were all fun though. Not sure I’d do it again.

2011 Stumpy FSR so no seat tube and direct mount front mech. It’s a bottom roller I want, the front mech sorts the top out OK. I pretty much thought I might have to move in to bodge county.

I had wondered about the SS one and machine out the inner to 42 MM

Another thing I only just found out is that Hope cups have got a little cut out, almost as if it’s meant for a grease gun

They’re so you can get a punch on the outer race to remove the bearing!

also you could put an O ring over the axle shaft – bit if a fiddle for HT2 but this would act as a flinger to stop water moving along the axle towards the bearings

I have done this and my Hope SS BB is 2 1/2 years old ans still as smooth as day 1

    Hi

My mate tried running X-type cranks duo with 10 speed and really suffered with chainsuck. He discussed it with Matt at Middleburn. The rings are designed 9 speed (10 on the way).

I now have his set-up on my bike but running 9 speed and no problem. A way round it until Middleburn do 10 speed rings may be to use the triple spider using someone else’s rings

I’ve filed down a composite Shimano middle ring for this is fine. Funnily enough once you have filed through the composite an hit the steel it’s the right size!

Junky/TJ – Serious question do you think that the sentence should be commensurate with the severity of the crime committed and the prevailing circumstances, or the value of the goods stolen?

    The crime was burglary

If somebody broke into a house, and stole an old ladies savings jar containing £50 do you think that the sentence should be any different from that if they broke into someone house and stole an old ladies savings jar containing £300?

If a mugger stole your wallet, and it had £3.50 in it, should he be sentenced any differently from a mugger who stole your wallet when it happened to contain £180?

This is a serious question, and deserves an answer…

    EXACTLY.

Well it wasn’t my shop/livelihood that was targeted, but it was my town that was trashed and reduced to something resembling a war zone. And it was the shops that I actually use which were looted/destroyed, including my LBSs Geoffrey Butler’s and Bike Plus – both a few minutes walk from me . When I saw the damage to the town centre I was devastated, it was far worse than I had expected, and I was genuinely seriously upset, in fact I was surprised just how upset I was. I won’t however support a “anything goes” attitude when dealing with those responsible for it. I expect common-sense to prevail, not stupid knee-jerk reactions.

Ernie, I’ve lived in the (your) area all my life, as a kid I worked at GB Cycles, long before they opened Bike Plus. I know the people directly effected by this.

Why should the CRIMINAL who took a case of water be treated any differently to the one that stepped through GB Cycles window and took a bike.

He was convicted of burglary and been sentenced for it. It doesn’t matter what was taken, he was sentenced for the crime(s) committed (Burglary and rioting) NOT what was stolen.

Or, maybe… the magistrates who are actually in court, actually dealing with the people first hand, actually seeing the evidence being put forward, are better at sentencing than a bunch of pundits on a MTB forum?

I think this is all that needs to be said.

There were pages and pages of ranting on about how terrible the events were and how the authorities should have done this and that. Now as usual as soon as they do something you’re all complaining about that too.

It was only a case of water doesn’t wash. He entered someone else’s property and stole from them. That is a crime, he knew that before doing it. At 23 he is an adult and punished as one.

If it had been your front window he’d stepped through, your possessions/livelihood he’d taken. YOU WOULD SEE IT DIFFERENTLY.

If he didn’t want to be punished he should have stayed at home.

I’ve got some Organic’s in my Hope M4’s that are 2 years old, 2-3 rides a week, probably 4 trips to Wales and a trip to the alps. They squeel like a pig in the wet and don’t seem a strong braking force wise now, but still have plenty of life in them.

Hope C2’s must be a good 12-14 years old? just fitted them to my son’s bike having been sat in the cupboard for 5 years, one needed bleeding. I think I have fitted a seal kit to these at some point
    M4’s no problems
Still running the original mono M4’s on my main bike, at least 6 years old no problems including trips to the Alps
2002 XC hubs, rear has had an axle, 1 set of bearings and a worn out Ti free hub. Front still on original bearings. Had at least three sets of rims fitted though
1 old and 1 new style headset, each fitted to several frames. Original one has had one set of bearings
Stainless BB now three years old, been on 3 frames still perfect.
Old anew seat clamps – great
    Prefer Shimano QR’s though
