I would like to say, use a ziplock bag! or 2!! My HTC desire had a silicon covering, was in my endura event jacket map pocket when it was pissing down. Took a call, forgot to close the zip up fully, at the end of the ride the phone was soaked. Still waiting for the insurance to pay uop too..

    arse biscuits.

I would avoid road riding in Cyprus.. only slightly above the standard of Portugal. As Renton said, temp is good, mid 20’s. Take the MTB, no pesky trail laws, if you see a track, you can ride it.

Core 40 for 999? I know its 100 quid over the limit, then there's always the genesis core 30 for 800.

Satmap used for the first time in anger this weekend over Consiton. **** me what a god send. As per previous comments, I thought I had wasted the dosh on the inital purchase back in June. Highly rated piece of kit, just need to arrange more weekends away to use it more!

My Pro extreme has just died and been replaced today. It was only 12 years old. Shocking really!! ( I say replaced, just removed until I can get some new bearings for it.)

    Lifted from theBBC website…

But almost 40 years after education secretary Margaret Thatcher decided to end free milk for seven to 11-year-olds, she is still pilloried as a "milk snatcher". The fact a Labour government ended a similar provision for secondary school pupils does not hold the same place in the public consciousness.

    and discuss….

Spoke to Ross at Speeds about those on friday, the new IO are out mid october, with 2 versions..8 speed @ 1200 and 11 speed @ 1500.

Must admit, I don't expect the scheme to last too long long under the current govt.

For what it's worth from my experience, spinning is great for sprint training, as the class would only be 50 mins of balls pedalling. (and the view of the ladies was very nice too.)
If you're already doing that much on the bike with the work commute and the xc rides, I wouldn't have throught it would improve your stamina in the slightest. Which if you're aiming for solo training is what you'll need more of.

Still a good work out though.

My 2008 EX8 cracked in exactly the same spot.. Trek and the LBS had a new swing arm sorted within 48 hours. They said it was a known porblem on the early frames and had changed the design etc. (Only affected the larger frames IIRC)

As you're not the original owner I couldn't say, but my experience with trek for warranty issues in general is superb.

i have a trek PDF showing the bearing codes you'll require for the frame etc. If anyone wants a copy, email me ( addy in profile) The main pivot bearing have a shoulder on them so are from your local trek dealer, all others are bog standard sizes.

    Bearing removal..

I pull the old bearings out using a combo of an old front QR skewer, and a selection of various socket set ends. Hard to discribe how it works with out pics but here goes..

Skewer….. with selction of larger than the bearing to be pulled out socket sets resting against frame / swingarm etc …. bearing to be pulled out….. smaller socket( or just Skewer cap) set to nest against inside of bearing.

wind up all the slack on the QR lever..BUT have the QR lever in the open position..

When all slack taken up, close the QR lever…this action wil pull bearing out of frame. Depending on depth of bearing, you might have to repeat this step a few times.

Just done all my bearings about a month ago using the above technique, no problems.

Sillyman, is this gen about the bearings being free for original owner? My LBS trek dealer ( who are very good to me) made no mention of this when I ordered the main pivot bearings. ( about 8quid a main bearing)

Just brought the unit on Tuesday direct from Satmap, as they were dishing out a vouncher code @ Mayhem for free whole of UK 1:50000 mapping ( £200 worth!) So went for the bike option kit @340quid.
Whoever the voucher code was only valid until Tuesday night..
You could call them tomorrow and try the stupidity angle, ie I forgot..
    code is SM-MM-06-10, call them on 0845 873 0101.

Next best deal I seen was online with Uttingsoutdoors, £310 for the active10 plus and uk national parks 1:50 K.
