Stato, braking on the drops for the downhills. would say pads are 3mm or so off the rim before lever is touched.
lever moves about 1/3 of available travel before brakes are on, ie, wheel will not move when bike is stationary with me trying to push bike.

Will give the new pads a go and see what happens.

Superdale, any vids from your veho?
I was musing the other day about a cam, and although I like the look/ features of the gopro2, I couldn’t justify the outlay for the use I would prob give it. The contours shape goes against a chest mount, and like my helmet to be clutter free..( fnarr fnarr)

I have also just ordered a 10 quid cheapy from 7dayshop for commuting evidence gathering.

Doing the wyre tomorrow night but will get a few clent/ lickey rides in next week if you’re interested. Don’t bother with downhill,or flat, or singhletrack, unless its an uphill grindfest I won’t touch it.
On a side note, I’ve had SSStu, didn’t even touch the sides…

    Keeping it powerjeylitecore since 2000..

Yep, doing for about last 3 years now, gave every 4 weeks, but now the machine software has been improved so you can give every 3 weeks if you desire. Do triples, takes about 1hour 30. Free wifi and tea and biccies on tap during donation, whats not to like!!
Previously I gave blood every 16 weeks, but was asked if interested in platelet donation as I is soo buff. Nurse at last donation was impressed with the volume of platelets they get from my 3 units. Being a keen bikey bloke helps..

only horror stories from me are the tingly lips sensation ( only occassionly), one session where the nurse punctured straight through the vein.. so machine could draw the blood ok, but on return cycle felt like acd was being shoved back in, only lasted for about 2 seconds before the machine detected it and shut down immediately.. Blood staff were really apologetic about it and made sure I was super monitored next time I went in, plus nurse who stuck me is not allowed to do me again..( accidents happen but was well annoyed at the time, not for the pain but a fecked up afternoon) About 3 donations ago, machine had drawn about 1/3 pint of blood and shut down due to an error code.. offered to go on another machine, but they said had lost too much blood to carry on so sent me home..

did it for 5 years but stopped a couple of years ago as the cost was just taking the piss for 2 hours of torture.
Clothing wise, used an old pair of lycra cyling shorts, my oldest crappest running trainers, a longsleeved skin top, cheap aldi running gillet( to cut out wind chill to make it easier to slide on stomach when in the mud) and a old knackered pair of longfingered summer cycling gloves. Buff to keep some heat in the head helps a huge amount to0. It’s impossible to keep hands out of the water!!

Only tip I can give, is run like **** at the start to get to obstacles as quickly as possible.. as you will waste huge amounts of time and body heat waiting to get up them when the other 3000 odd people get there..

    hope this helps.

My first daughter Hannah was stillborn at full term. Completely out of the blue, no problems with the pregancy, until wife went into labour and they couldn’t find a heartbeat. We had approx 50mins heads up until Sue went into natural labour. Afterwards we held Hannah for a couple of hours. We managed to take one photo ( back in 97, so pre digital cameras/ mobile phones etc) and one of the nurses took a passport sized snap. Looking back I wish I had fired off the whole film , but understandably had bigger issues on my mind.

Just do the job you’ve been asked to do to the highest standard possible. You feel shit, I’ll wager the parents are in a slightly worse place right now.

Mark, stay off the bike for a few days.
The ride last night wasn’t in brill conditions and looking at endomondo, was a reasonable pace knowing where you were riding.
I admit my knowledge of diabetes is limited to making sure Jordan tests/ does his insulin etc ,( + quality control/nicking your jelly babies over the wyre) but the body still needs to rest in between exercise/ illness
    .
Easier said than done but chill out for a few days, play the xbox etc… then do a ride.( with company) I’ll be free Sunday afternoon/night.

It’ll work out fine, you just need a big dose of MTFU. what you need to restore the low bullshit reading are more Clent Duffers rides, as there’s always an excess present.

Chin up , and catch you out and about either this Sunday/ monday..

Yo Reynolds, if you do choose the wyre forest, prop the best place to bivvy down for the night ( in oct) would be at goldilocks cottage. actual house is owned by the cabury family, and normaly boarded up like fork knox, but does have a nice wooden veranda ( spelling?) to doss down on. Would provide a bit more comfort /shelter for you.
As RD says, best stuff is via local knowledge but quite a few locals on here. Have got GPS routes if needed, but a rough namecheck of people to ask , RD, myself, MiltiantGraham.

As for doing 15 mile a day, appriecate you would be carrying own kit..but it’s not exactly pushing it..You could do an off road route of Clent to Kinver to Wyre then a quick loop of the forest. approx 35miles…just a thought.
    Hope this helps..

look for miles 18 -24 for the route across, bit of cheeky footpath use from 22 to 24, but I won’t tell if you dont..
if you want, email me and I’ll send you the GPX route of it..

    AndyRT,

there was a previous Austism threadfrom a few years ago.. might pick up a few pointers from that. My son Jordan is apsbergic, but was able to ride by the time he was six. Just remember kids with ASD can/ will take longer to pick up certain things.. If balance is an issue, you could try him with a scooter?

I’d trust the manu, not the LBS…
Also 9 and 10 speed chains both have same inner distance between plates( bits where chainring teeth sit) .just the outer measurement that is different.

1st Torq for me, wasn’t expecting the course to be so good, the singletrack just seemed to go on for ever!! ( loved the Banksey section). Pity for the down pour from 2 til 4 that turned it all swampy, but the course soon dried out. I was running a semi bald bonty XDX on the rear, not the most grippiest in the gloop but even managed the short Torq climb after ‘Duck or Grouse’ with out dabbing for my 10 laps.
Had it stayed dry for the event , it would have been fanastic. Deffo back for next year.
Again, for all the speedy whippets that tore past me, top manners and much appriecated words of encouragement.

You haven’t joined the clent duffers as I’m the admin. The clent duffers has an ‘ espirit de core’ that we can not allow to be corrupted by 29 er,SSing vegans!
I have reqested that stw worcester and stw wiltshire join the challenge, but they are not showing yet. Would assume that this is down to the admin not granting permission yet.

Here something for the “frost-resistant” Biker:
A Challenge and an incentive to bike in the rain, mud, snow, ice and frigid temperatures, to pick out your MTB and say: Just now !
This challenge will be a winter competition and I appeal you, be fair and registers just teams, where is assured, in their country at the contest time is a little bit bad weather + winter. We want to “unload” in retrospect teams, because in their country isn`t winter.
Greetings to all MTBiker, the team “Deutschlands alte MTB-Säcke, Ü 40”

    easy peasy..

Gilles, I’m confused. You created the STW_Wiltshire team, you describe Ashton Court as a local trail and you’re the STW_Worcestershire team captain. What’s going on there then ?

Gilles was one of the original Clent duffers, on an mtb exchange posting from Cern.. We thought what he would bugger off after a couple of weeks, but once he got hooked on pork scratchings he renounced his French passport, claimed culinary asylum and now travels the UK in his ever ending search for other pub based delicasies.
