Close up of the rim …

Cleaned the rim up and looking at some of the spoke holes there are fracture lines around 7 or 8 of them. (Not the best images with my point and click camera )

Just riding down a road hill, loud bang and the feeling of a flat… wasn't untilI stopped I realised the rim had blown off.

Go on then OP, which shop did it? I don't think it would have been Redditch shot blasters as they applied a silver foil tape over the BB and headtube on my last frame which you just cut off.

I had the same problem on my trek ex8, the drive side cup would come loose in the frame when riding. ( XT B/B set up tight etc.) This led to the threads in the frame becoming knacked too. I tried Lociting the BB in place, but the threads were just too worn adfter a while , even with new XT BB's placed in there.

Trek warranted the frame for me via my LBS, (gawd bless them!) and after I got the new frame, I started running a saint BB just to be on the safe side. AS with the XT BB, when you're running with 2 lots of BB spacers, thats about an extra 5 mm thread you're missing out on. Saint cups are a lot longer.

I don't think that you can register ' core jeylite power mincing' as its more a style than a product.

Cheers for the offer Ben. The mud last night was thick liquid ( like pedlling through syrup) but as soon as it touched the frame/ gears it just froze solid. We had 3 stops to try and chip the mud off and get a useable gear.

Must admit, after last night's night ride in some of the worst conditions I have ever encountered in the Wyre, I am seriously considering an Alfine. Even popped into the LBS to try a Genisis IO out. When are they going to be releasing the 11 speed one then?

Yep, my frame snapped on the disc mount ( very early 08 model) in early Jan 08, but trek were very good, and new swing arm with in 48 hours fitted by LBS.

P>S My reputation is entirely unfounded, just a big soft gentle puppy.

No, new chain and cassete on the inbred yesterday, followed by the clent dayride, back home for a wash down and a new middle ring. Good to go tonight with no faff..

Got one too, very good all rounder. If you ever turn up to one of the clent duffer rides, I might even let you have a go. :D

Maintain your bikes and buy good components.

A good few miles this winter – maybe a thousand? maybe more? A set of brake pads at the puffer – thats it for replacements.

Oh course, silly me, I'm just buying spares for the hell of it. Deore cassettes, deore steel middle chainrings, sram p970 chains. Utter shite the lot of it.

TJ Ive also ridden the pffer solo a few times, and as i know you're a 'sweaty sock' I'll assume your local riding would possibley be in similar soil conditions. Good for you only needing such limited replacements, hwoever as it has been pointed out , not all mud is created equal.

3 bikes, made of brie it would seem. And Lowey, I wouldn't mind if all my riding was as photogenic as your pics, instead of the somme like conditions I seem to attract.

Nige, are those the ones you were meant to be flogging to me?

(Anyway, seeing as you're avoiding me like the plague.) I've also ordered a pr of the MT500 baggies which are meant to be waterproof.

    Try my LBS, speeds cycles
they havea 19.5 inch bike in stock. However, the bike is a bike only option, they don't do the ali as a frame only option, just the carbon 9.9sl as frame only.

    Hope this helps…
