Are those patio doors legal ? I actually quite like the fact you can open the door and fall out but surprised it got signed off!

It’s in keeping with the area, for years there was a bungalow round the corner that just had a UPVC door to nowhere in the gable end.

“Wasn’t there some thing with Idris Elba, Ben Miles and a plane?”

    Hijack.

After binning off Netflix and Prime, Apple TV is one we kept around, we thought it was more quality over quantity. Agree with all the recommendations above and enjoyed The Afterparty too, the Big Door Prize keeps you watching just because you want to know what the hell is going on.

Always worth running system file checker to check for any weird corruptions that maybe hiding.

Open Command Prompt (elevated) and type sfc /scannow, it’ll run through and check and fix any issues, then restart the laptop for good measure. Sometimes find if I’ve got a bizarre issue that you think would be unrelated running this fixes it.

We’ve had something similar at work following an update, sorted by repairing Edge so could be worth a shot.

Go to Control Panel/Programs and Features or open start menu, type appwiz.cpl and press enter. Find and select Edge then look above the program list for an option to Repair (or change then select repair) and let it run.

As woody2000 worth trying on a different network to help narrow it down.

Also, have to ask (sorry) have you tried turning the laptop off…

Blackwitch should do it, I’ve repaired a 6″ gash in my swimming suit successfully with it (put hand through taking if off on a cold day). Looks a tad messy but still does the job. Absolutely stinks and is very “stringy” so do it outside if possible and not over something you’re precious about.

Also repaired a seam on a suit I bought split, last one in my size, 10 minutes with blackwitch and you can’t tell. Worth 10 minutes of my time for the discount the shop gave me! Glued the seam together with the compund and stuck one of the patches down the seam on the inside and works perfectly.

Great Thread! My Daughter is only 21 months but loves being out on the bike, started with a seat on the back and now she’s on the Shotgun, it’s not my bike anymore, it’s ours 😂 I almost feel seasick just before we set off as she bounces up and down on the footpegs in excitement, she’s just got to learn that climbs are not the time to shout “More! Fast!”.

Seeing the pics above and reading the stories really makes me look forward to adventures when she’s on her own bike.

As a bedtime story apparently. After helping me open it and carrying it round the house in lieu of a teddy my Daughter (20 months) has decided it’s her new bedtime book. If I read it on my own she’ll be furious!

I have pair of Rossignol ones I got from TK Maxx for about £8 a few years ago, similar to the ones in this set:

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/accessories/hats-gloves+scarves/hats/black-hat+glove-gift-set/p/34682641

Keep my hands warm and I can use my phone for calls/texts whilst wearing them, no waterproofing though so not ideal if they get wet.

Watched Onboard the Transcontinental Race last night and enjoyed it, some stunning scenery and good interviews with the riders, you can definitely see the toll riding for that long with not enough sleep takes on them!

Off-topic but this seems a good thread to ask the question. Does anyone know which Thule Fitting kit is needed to connect the 753 footpack to the F31 Tourer’s flush rails?

The 753 footpack states it works with flush rails as well as fixed points but as they’ve made it obsolete now I’m really struggling to find the part number. Loathe to buy a full footpack set if I can just swap the fitting kit.

13 mini (I quite like the form factor, not so much the battery life)

It’s much better than the 12 mini that I have for work, when I was looking at the 13 mini I compared the specs against my 10 I had at the time and the 13 had a better battery life, it’ll last all day unless I hammer it. It’s a shame they’ve got rid of the mini range, fingers crossed they update the SE and put it in the mini shell.

If I was the OP I’d stick, as others have said they’re incremental updates but nothing earth shattering. I would have kept my 10 until they stopped supporting it but a burn mark on the camera and the arrival of my little one pushed me to update as I was using the camera more.

Moved from death grips to the Renthal Traction Ultra-Tacky to try something different and find them to be great.

They are stupidly soft so they do wear quickly but after a year they’re still going strong. Very thin and great in all conditions, if you don’t wear gloves with them they do leave black marks and bits of rubber on your hands.

In Scarborough there’s a nice looking one called the Bike and Boot – https://bikeandboot.com/ which is just up on the top above the Spa bridge on the south bay. Has a dog and bike wash if that’s something you might require.

Otherwise the Crown (on top above the spa) or the Crescent (in town but 5 minute walk from the beach) would be the nicer ones. Avoid the Grand.

Congratulations! To add to the great advice above, make sure your hospital bag is packed well in advance. We were booked in for a C Section as our little one was breech, everything was spread out next to the bag to be packed when they decided to come a week earlier. Your other half won’t thank you for the haphazard 1am packing when they need something out of it after the birth!

Enjoy the early times, during the pregnancy I was looking forward to future biking and adventures outside but now they’re here the last 10 months have gone too fast. It’s both the hardest and most rewarding things I’ve had to do, they’ll drive you mad then smile at you to make it all go away.

As someone also said above, support groups. We did the NCT courses and the most useful thing to come out of it was our WhatsApp groups, to have other mums going through the same things we can’t understand to talk to in the wee hours has been invaluable for my partner!

If you want some light hearted reading to prepare you, check out “Dummy” by Matt Coyne of manvsbaby fame. Funny and informative!

+1 for Coconut Lagoon if you fancy a curry that’s a bit different.

The Star Inn the City is also worth a look for a nice dinner, and the Perky Peacock on the other side of the river is a lovely little coffee shop, as long as the river isn’t in flood!

I tried the MX Keys and thought it was great, I liked the feel of the keys coming from a mech keyboard compared to other chiclet ones I’ve used. It felt solid, well built and had decent battery life (rechargeable via USB C), the backlight is also a nice touch and the keys have symbols for both Mac and Windows which is useful but does look a tad busy.

Being able to flip between my work laptop, home computer and iPad at the touch of the button was nice. No issues with the bluetooth connection on 2 devices and used the supplied logitech receiver for my home computer.

Annoyingly in the end I had to go back to my old wired keyboard as I’ve had a tenkeyless one for so long I felt like I was reaching across the desk to get to my mouse and couldn’t get used to it, if Logitech ever do a TKL MX Keys I’ll be getting one.

Yes they’re expensive but it is something you potentially use for a good few hours every single day. I’ve had an MX Master mouse for about 5 years now and love them, got a second hand original one and upgraded to the 3 last year after I dropped it going between home and the office :(

maybe try 502? You can get them in various taper fits, they’re a bit roomier in the thigh than 501.

Another shout for the 502s here, enough room in the thighs but slightly tapered towards the bottom of the leg so sit better on shoes/boots than the 501s did for me.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :)

Press Windows Key + A (assuming Windows) and check options at the bottom to make sure it’s not in flight mode.

It might be that the WiFi adapters were disabled for some reason, usually needs elevation to enable so will need a Tech to remote in.

If you’ve not got an ethernet cable you could tether via USB to a phone and let the tech in that way? If you’ve still got the box your router came in there might be an ethernet cable in there.

I’m mostly curious to know how they can fix it when they don’t have remote access to it and I have no permissions to access any settings.

Speaking from experience, with great difficulty :) They might be able to give you a onetime admin password, if the PC has one saved on the system….

I’d avoid spraying the caliper with the disc cleaner, or take the pads out before you do it.

I run Zee’s with resin pads in them, if I clean the disc (using the MucOff cleaner) I only ever spray that and wipe if off with kitchen/blue roll. I just wipe the calipers down with a damp cloth if they’re particularly filthy. Never had an issue doing it like tha and the bite remains the same.

If the pads are glossy try give them a rough up with some gritty sandpaper too to take the shine off them.

No direct experience of the Abarth but my Wife did have a special edition 500 with sporty seats, wheels and low profile tyres. It was great fun to drive round, it was only 1.2 and you could drive it in a spirited manner and have fun whilst firmly staying within the law, guessing the Abarth might take you to the other side quite quickly!

It was bumpy though, especially compared to my Golf, you could feel every bit of the terrible roads around us and it wasn’t particularly refined in terms of comfort and sound deadening. I used to say my Golf felt like a comfy slipper compared to running in climbing shoes in hers. Long journeys weren’t the most relaxing and I felt quite exposed on a busy motorway due to the size.

We got rid at 7 years old after a couple of very expensive MOTs.

On the other hand my old Director at work used to borrow his Wife’s Abarth to travel from Newark to York occasionally, watching him get out was always amusing as he was 6’4″. When we chatted to him about it he used to rave about it, he had a 7 series for motorway cruising and an M3 as his “fun” car, but chose to drive the Abarth when he could because he enjoyed it so much.

I had a similar thing when my bike got stolen, it had cost me around £1500 to build so that’s what I’d declared as it’s worth on my insurance. When I claimed my insurer (Aviva) asked me to get a quote from a local bike shop for a bike of the equivalent spec, which came out at £1950, they paid out without issue (after sending me down the Wheelies route first).

They’re great for work. I carry enough crap as it is so unfortunately have no room for an aeropress or suchlike. I use a Bodum travel mug which keeps drinks hot for ages so I just leave the bag in, takes care of the strength side of things. Yes, I am an oaf.

Next is worth a try, I used them this year for me and my Best Man/Ushers.

We did have some issues finding sizes to suit us all in some ranges as we differed greatly in sizes but the returns policy was great. Just dropped everything off/had it delivered to the Next Home I pass on my commute so parking was easy.

I’m a fan of polarised lenses, was advised to get some years ago when working as a lifeguard to combat glare from the pool and have been buying them since.

Never personally had any issues with depth perception, for me they’re no different to normal glasses other than the benefit of the polarisation. No issues when using a sat nav or seeing the screen in between the dials on my car unless I tilt my head, and I try not to drive like that :) also helps to remove any dash reflection or glare off other cars on sunny days.

Smartphone wise, only had an issue when I had a tempered glass screen protector on, fine in portrait mode but darkened in landscape. Since taking the protector off I’ve had no problems.

Negatives – tend to be a bit more expensive!

Another vote here for the NAS Drive. I have an old Synology disk station setup at work for storage/backups and accessing tools/applications from other machines on the network. Currently it’s got four 1tb drives in there giving me around 3tb of storage with redundancy should one of the drives fail.

You would have the added benefit of still being able to get to your data if you loose your external internet connection, I know it’s fairly rare but that could be a problem with OneDrive/Google/DropBox etc.

I can manage the drive through a webpage, and can set security to ensure that only specific people can access it, useful if you only have one network which external contractors/clients can access.

This is similar (I think the new version) to the one I have, they do 2 bay ones too similar to te one Cletus suggested.

O2 let me return a phone a couple of years ago when I had coverage issues, but sure they said they had a no quibbles 14 day returns policy.

EE, like Carphone Warehouse don’t allow returns if you buy in store from what I remember (again a couple of years ago so might have changed). If you order online from either you’ll be covered by distance selling regs.

Could be worth trying a bigger network store? I know the O2 shop near me has a lot of real phones on display rather than the CW that only has Apple/Google/Samsung demos

I’ve had a set of the Troy Lee Shock Doctors (5500 or 5400) for about 4 years now, find them comfortable and not too warm. Not tested the protection properly since I’ve had them but I trust them. They’re just getting to the point where I find myself needing to adjust the thigh cuff as it slips down but I’d get another pair when I do get rid of these.

I hand washed them for a long time but I now just through them in the washing machine with my shorts etc. to clean them up @ 30Deg and a slower spin.

Another Dalby local here and agree with the comments above, but it’s worth popping in especially if you’re right next to it. There are definitely some bits that feel like they’ve been put in to make it longer (like Bickley Gate, I tend to go down the road there). Sutton Bank is also good but if you do the full trail you have to remember what goes down, must climb back up Sutton Bank…

The blue is about an hour long if you don’t stop but is fun after the initial climb, you can use it to short cut to the back end of the red as well (Post 26 I think, Riggs and Dales) which is challenging but only really has one really steep bit you’d call black (Vera Lynns, which I think might be the bit Mattyfez is talking about), where it meets back up with a blue it’s a long straight slog that is actually good fun if you pedal down it like a child :) just need to keep your eyes open for others!

The Trailforks app has all the routes marked on it (and some of the off piste bits like the old red, might not be great for MrsJTL though if she prefers blues).

Pub wise, as mentioned above the Fox and Rabbit is great and I recommend the chilli beef wrap. If you’re out towards Rillington the Coach and Horses is nice and haven’t minded when two muddy bike riders have trooped in in the past.

Also, if you find yourself in Scarborough Eat Me Cafe (Asian inspired and burgers) and the Cowshed (Burgers) are worth a visit if you don’t fancy Fish & Chips
