Always surprises me how quick people are to just say things are ‘rubbish’ rather offer a critique…

I really liked its as it found its feet. Shame there arn’t more mtbers, it was my second fav behind Ride and this magnificent Journal of course. Rouleur it is then which I like but not as much. Note to Rouleur please don’t do another b&w cover of detail of a velodrome …

The journal is great, I’m enjoying this a spectator and simultaneously planning a escape back to the Western Isles.

    Thanks for sharing!

A4 allroad suspension is higher 39mm I think, and a far better ride quality that the standard Quattro for some reason, I’ve tested both, it’s also got a wider track, Stronic gear box is also good, they are expensive though but like the OP I didn’t want a ‘proper’ 4×4. I didn’t even consider one until I test drove one, and was won over at that point.

A4 allroad, very good, I tested A6 but too expensive, so got the A4 and don’t regret it.

Saddle pointing down will force weight on to your hands- try it horizontal.

I’ve got an A4 (allroad, but had a normal one before that) it’s bigger than a 3 series, I tried both with bikes. A4 hasn’t changed since 58 plate, new 3 series is bigger but still only about the same as the current A4. A4 is smaller than Passat etc but a much better car.

I loved it too, again, the vibe is great, the people and course the best. I did have a small sense of humour failure re camping when at 3am v loud pi*sedness was about 6 feet from my head. Apart from that perfect. A family camp area would be a worthwhile improvement?

I fear people are missing the point here, it’s not a suitable way to maintain a bridleway; any bridleway. Calling it ‘Blue Pig’ and a ‘trail’, will lead any authorities believe that we are a minority group complaining trying to protect the narrow interests of mountain bikers.

We need to be advocates of sustainable bridleway maintenance using materials and methods suitable for Calderdale, for all users, on wheels, hooves or feet.

Just enjoy it: you know your thesis better than the external does- listen and defend as needed, but it’s really a conversation about something you both have knowledge and passion about, maybe in different measures, I surprised myself with knowledge that was stored away in the deep recesses of my mind (I had a typo in line one of the abstract, and some interesting grammar to correct!). Hope it goes well.

Preordered as well; I’ve discovered insight, inspiration and an itch to go and ride my bike in each edition so far.

Mr Reed Speed, it must be very inconvenient, but have you considered that some of those trails in the Peaks were not just designed for you on flyer: horses, walkers, other mtb riders use them too, and may stop at anytime. Most people would step off the bridleway to let you pass, of course…

“If someone’s right on your tail, give em a little brake check too! Easy way to get a few bike lengths!”

Maybe, but surely they will just catch up again, then pass, as they are on your wheel because they are going faster!

I’ve got a Niner MCR as well definitely more room than the Tallboy- it’s going to be be tight if they turn out to be a big 2.35.., plan B is move them to the MCR

Sorry to resurrect this thread but Dan 1502 did the Hans Dampf 2.35 fit in the rear of the Tallboy?

I just ordered some; may have been a mistake, please tell me it fitted. The Ikons on it at the moment are ‘interesting’ at the moment in the mud, very capable but off camber mud in October isn’t really for them!

Mountaintrax boys are very good, go down there; very helpful. I came out with a Tallboy, perfect for round here, RIdgeway, Chilterms etc and was great at the Dyfi Enduro. Mind you I have no skill on a mountain bike what so ever….

    “expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable”
, sounds like some thing we all have in common, yes riding mountain bikes. 3k a tooth may be expensive but =’s about one carbon frame courtesy of SantaCruz……
