Looks to me that your avg for the loop is very respectable 27+ kph. I also ride this route, often starting up Applepie hill.
If you made it up Streatley hill in good time you are doing fine. I’d also recommend spd’s.
I went with a very trad Singular Kite. It’s great, rides smoothly; steel forks ride well despite the heft- and a
I quite like the canti’s for their simplicity. It’s going to be the winter commuter bike as well.
You are being very clear, but I’d recommend some s-works mtb shoes I have dome nice white ones. Function always wins once they have been battered a bit. I suspect the road shoes wouldn’t be as robust?
I guess low pressures could mean that you don’t get as much of the pinball effect. It would be fun to try. The water didn’t do my Tallboy’s pivots much good!
Good effort threading the fat tyres through the ruts!! I don’t see any mud on those pics. I spent most of my time slipping and sliding or swimming through mud, when not stumbling out of ruts, oh and getting stung! Still enjoyed it though! So well organised!!!
Loved it…best yet for organisation and atmosphere. Just saw the tandem on the vid up there! World cup descent from the stokers perspective must be interesting :)
I tonight they were steep and technical for me. The World Cup descent isn’t exactly a gentle down hill and some of the off camber slate stuff is tricky.
Also if you are annoyed that people walk on the 1st climb, just ride faster at the start to the first climb , then you can be a climbing god with others like you :).
The whole thing was great fun, thanks to the organisers!
This is all very useful we have a 1740’s house with some interesting cement pointing in places that’s one falling out and allowing water ingress behind the brick, culminating in water pouring from the casement window surrounds in the recent South Westerly storms. It’s time to sort it it and it’s amazing the lack of knowledge amongst most of the local builders. Ironically the original pointing is absolutely solid!
A 20 inch frame with a 36 inside leg and 6’6″ is way too small unless you the OP plans on a very low saddle height, a riser stem, a stack of spacers or a 10cm saddle to bar drop. 21 inch Solaris, Niner, Highball would be great.
Just got a Rapha race cape in the sale, I got other “pro” stuff from them and it’s great if you are skinny and don’t want to end up wearing sail-like outerwear- I have high expectations; we will see; I expect robust and functional….
Don’t know but they do fit in a first gen tallboy, changed from Ikons, turning an agile race bike into a slow winter tractor; still the traction is great,, if only I was strong enough to turn the pedals…..
