I don’t think they ever had a full on race xc full sus bike, they have always tended to the trail side of xc that can be raced with a light build. So maybe they did…I suspect that many could race the TB3 very effectively- especially in a endurance race context.

Looks good, but as ever a big investment. I have a TB 1 and the geo is very different, the world has moved on!

The email I got on Friday says no bbq’s of any kind…in red type!!

Allso to those who don’t like to be held up on the downs; just ride more quickly to escape the crowds; or wait at the back if you can’t make it up the ups as quickly as the more xc riders. Personally I’ve always enjoyed the fact that every type of rider joins in at the Dyfi!

If you don’t feel fit don’t worry just go slower; its that kind of event!!

4h 20 mins in that mud…I need new legs!

it was pretty brutal though….start at the front if you don’t want to wait to push up climbs. i didn’t this year and had 20km of walking up hills behind people. My walking later was purely me…Also saw lots of people with wide tyres spinning on top of the mud…Cotswolds in a damp April with loads of claggy mud; needs old school tyres or cx!

…..Let’s face it it’s not going to be dry this year unless it stops raining now!!

I’m riding a singular kite. It will be fast on he road, slow on the few tricky down bits. Good in the mud, bumpy if it’s dry. I might try and go tubeless….

I love the Lakes and competing or riding, but; the rules section has typos and some sections repeated. The text refers to the event being governed but doesn’t mention what the governence framework is.

I don’t see anything remotely ‘clickbait’ on STW….

XL High Tower looks great. Good replacement for v1 tallboy…raids piggy bank realises I’ll need to wait for the High Tower 2….

Mr Podge, it’s not just about height, it’s personal preference and body proportions too, bike fit is very individual. The bikes you mention might not fit you in the way you want them to, but why don’t you try them and then decide, then if you aren’t happy just choose another bike- or go custom, if standard sizes don’t fit you. The Hightower and 4 will suit many riders…

Stick with the bar shape you like, change stem if that gives you too much height. Make sure your saddle to bar drop and reach is where you need it to be.

On a 29er very much depends on what size frame frame you have. On my XL tallboy I have a riser bar and a 10 degree rise stem, but high saddle height means higher bars as the head tubes don’t really increase in length enough as you go up the size range.

Very poor system, just the sort of thing that will damage the reputation of the event..and got charged an extra 1.50 of the services of ‘stuweb’ I suggest Dyfi Events has a discussion with them about service..

I think I know the solution to all of this 2.1 Ardents- better still a 1.9 fire xc pro :)

I’m 6’4″ but we are all different, I’m all legs so Santa Cruz xl Tallboy is dead on XXL too big, so best just try some out if you can find them.

Wonderful stuff- compare that to complaints about the lack of ‘flow’ at a trail centre whilst on 6k of carbon fullsus….

I had one, I’d definitely go for an s-tronic version. Not a huge car but very capable and comfortable and quiet. Bigger than a 3 series inside and a far better car in my opinion.

Stoodley Pike,- bikes new and old- must have a sub 5, a Pace. Not just blokes riding bikes.. range of different tides on differing bikes

Mmmmm 90kg – 17.5 psi in a 2.1 tyre- no rim damage or pinch flats- I remain unconvinced….

I think you all need to have a look at bikes that people ride for the Tour Divide and similar rides – these aren’t for a quick 10 mile and then to the pub….anyway….

Doesn’t this all depend on how tall you are and how long your arms are? One persons 68cm is someone else’s 76cm….
