My feet haven’t got wet since I started wearing knee length Sealskinz plus 3/4 length waterproof shorts to stop water getting in the top. Thin socks as an extra layer for warmth. Plenty of room in shoes so circulation not restricted. I may look into those Dickies, though.

Oh, and I wear leggings so the knee length socks don’t make me look like a tool.

    Condoms. Ribbed or un-ribbed.

A real man wouldn’t have talked about it.

The trouble is, sitting on a wet saddle seems to force the water through the waterproofing eventually. Happened with goretex ex-army trousers and Berghaus waterproofs.

Dunno how to avoid it, but Sudocrem was was like a miracle cure when I suffered from it. Saddle sore after day one of a three day ride, did day two no problem, day three saddle soreness a distant memory.

Spin beat me to it, but another couple of football ones…

‘Wycombe Whack ’em’ – Wycombe Wanderers beat local rivals Aylesbury

‘Happy Hopwood Hits His Hat-trick’ – South Wales Echo local football

I’d expect Afan to be fine, except the White’s Level climb which will probably be a muddy slog. We’re going on Saturday to do Y Wal then Penhydd – a bit of old school including some free ride fun then new school bermy, jumpy stuff.

It gives general idea of the effect of the different types of damping.

As someone who has never had a fork with anything other than low speed rebound to play with, this looks like a useful general guide to understanding how to adjust rebound and compression.

Re ‘here, here’ vs ‘hear, here’: I yield.

Hear, hear. (To the last but one post). To the previous post… well done for getting ‘you’re’ correct.

Ooh! I thought I knew it meant ‘I agree over here’. Still have a strong feeling I’m right, but won’t get all sweary about it.

Bigger issues at stake, obviously, but it’s ‘here, here’, not ‘hear, hear’.

Cardiff, for the reasons mentioned above, plus I know for a fact there’s already one Scot living here already.

Paper? Think of the trees. We should follow his logic to its obvious conclusion and start farming woodpeckers.

On my own (so no ‘social stops’) I get to the top in about 40 mins (maybe 50) and I’m probably an average rider. Don’t know how quickly I could do the whole loop cos I can never resist doing a few loops of the freeride section at the top. Last time I did a solo loop I was testing a Cotic Rocket and did 10 loops of the freeride – it invites you to go faster each time, with some nice little jumps and tight little berms, and the 3 table tops towards the end are a decent enough challenge to clear for most people I’d think. The faster you do the descents the more fun. Possibly a trail that becomes more fun the more familiar you become with it.

The QC issues were on other models, Rocket wasn’t mentioned. Paul Dexter explained the change of supplier was intended to get more frequent supply, but it was taking longer for the new supplier to get set up than expected. Didn’t say whether the new supplier is in the UK or not.

To give th OP an even harder decision, the 2014 Bandit has 140 rear travel with 150 fork options on the build packages I’ve seen, and 650B wheels, so possibly even closer to the Rocket.

I’ve tried the Rocket and 2013 Bandit this year and found them similar but felt the benefit of the little bit of extra travel from the Rocket, so I’m waiting. Really enjoyed the cornering ability of both – possibly due to low bottom brackets on both.

I have a Gary Fisher Mamba 29er, five yrs old, and went from G2 Rockshox Dart 3 to non-G2 Recon Silver. Haven’t
    noticed any negatives re geometry.

Blaengarw is good. Short, but a few different challenges from what you’ll find at Afan – some technical rocky stuff and some big fun berms. The black is short enough to do two or three times before you finish on the back leg of the blue, and you’ll probably want to have at least one repeat of the black. The climbs are short and sharp.

No, one doesn’t drive, one just wants to ride one’s bike.
