A post-session massage of the area should sort you out. Ideally by your partner.

Y Wal has a free ride area at the top for some extra variety – bermy runs, table tops, etc – to play around on too, if you want to get more value out of the one trail.

If you do Y Wal (The Wall) from the Afan visitor centre – 23km, takes us 1.5 – 2 hours depending on how long we stop for – you can do Penhydd after if you feel like it, from the same start point, 14 km I think.

Bike hire available at Cwmcarn now, I think. Bike shop in the car park. New Cafall trail probably 2+ hours of riding with a big group plus the two downhill tracks.

Bought, and happy with, Eureka Mignon for same reason as above.

Riding in the rain in summer temperatures is fine, don’t you think? Bike Park Wales this morning, completely wet through after first climb and descent, waterproof socks full of water , nciely warmed up to room temp, no problem; rode happily for the next couple of hours (did stop raining, though). In fact, next time may not bother with a jacket (
    too warm on the climb).

I didn’t see that tree yesterday; is that the one they’ve already cleared?

Cafall is just as worthwhile as Twrch – even better in some respects – so Cwmcarn still worth a visit. The Twrch diversion at the moment is fire road from near the start which takes you to the top of the main descent plus some extra. Probably worth doing as an add-on to Cafall, to make a 2.5 – 3 hour ride.

There were three (I think) group emails at various times when deadlines were about to be missed. You must have been missed from the distribution list. Probably worth getting in touch with them.

Bit sorry I started the thread; not sure it’s serving any purpose other than to give an opportunity for people without any interest to express angst on others’ behalf. I’m sanguine.

There is a base tune for the CCDBA CS on the Cane Creek site that was worked out by Cy, I think. Last time I looked it matched the tune settings he sent me when I asked back in February. Interestingly, there is a different base tune for the Rocket for the new CCDBA Inline – I don’t know where that’s come from given that the shock isn’t available yet and Cotic haven’t mentioned the Inline as a possible option.

You could just set the base tune and forget it until you feel like experimenting a bit. The Cane Creek field guide looks useful for people not used to tuning their own shocks (like me).

There is an internal setting (i.e. not user-adjustable) that sets how much effect the Climb Switch has. Again, according to Cy, the shocks supplied by Cotic will have this set specifically for the Rocket – I think Cy found the setting on the shock he was sent to test to be too soft, so it should be set a bit firmer than default. The CS just adds a set amount of low speed compression and rebound to the tune the user sets him/herself.

Rockets came in black and white in the 2012 batch.

Steel swingarm hasn’t been mentioned before.

Last advice was that there are plans for a 29er but they’re concentrating on getting the first 50 26ers out first.

On the 26ers… the black or white options for the rear ‘triangle’ are apparently for people to match with their fork colour. Also, there are design/manufacture changes to the shock linkage and mounting that will improve shock performance, save about 100 grams, and will enable use of a stealth dropper.

There’s a bike shop in Dolgellau. Can’t remember what it’s called.

I exchanged a couple of emails with Cy on Wednesday: they won’t manage June, as most people will have guessed by now, but we should be optimistic about receiving them before August. Cy’s away for a few days but there should be a detailed email update on Tuesday, with pictures. Sounds like issues are resolved and it’s just a matter of putting the bits together.

I filled up from a mountain stream at Brechfa once and got a performance boost by imagining it was elven water.

Yes, Skyline Cycles told me last Saturday they’d have the Spitfire at their demo day this weekend and that they are about to become a Banshee dealer.

There you are, either do Twrch first or do Cafall first – we’ve done all your thinking for you. Let us know if we can be any more help.

Some noticeable differences from the 26″ version – bent seat tube, different angles on the linkage components. I’d guess it’s a large; the small perhaps won’t have the seat tube brace so would look better, but would look a bit odd with those massive wheels, as all 29ers do.

Longer, higher, slightly les technical, but harder partly due to the constant changes in gradient. If you’re intending to do both then do Cafall first, Twrch second, as I think it would be harder the other way around.

Yeah, but always better to test a bike on trails you know.

Interesting. I admit the Pyga 120 has given me pause for thought, but the Rocket is still first choice, not necessarily for having more travel but I found it a bit easy to throw around – could be the smaller wheels or could be the demo Rocket was smaller. I’d be happy with either. The Pyga 120 is the most beautiful colour I’ve ever seen on a bike, though – it was turning heads yesterday.

Also, though the seat post looks long it isn’t particularly – was able to drop the saddle low enough and that was 5′ 7″ me on a medium.

    No Cotic Rockets mentioned yet?….
Just beaten to it by tangoman, but I’m still keeping the faith (either that or I’m just to stubborn for my own good – had ALL the parts ready to hang off it since August last year)
Just heard something on the grapevine that’s got me excited again.

And ‘seen’ something even more interesting…

What have you seen and heard? Can you share?

A Manhattan is made with sweet Vermouth.

Ok, but a ‘Southern Comfort Manhattan’ is best with dry vermouth (call it something else), else you’ll die of sweetness. It’s the only way I know of making it drinkable.
