Hi Rob – no the brochure shows the family loop in Fineshade plus the blue bits but the map also shows a large section of red (I’ve ridden the blue green many times but not for about 6 months) The blurb says “two optional red routes for more experienced off-road cyclist” didn’t have chance to ask in the shop as it was busy

Sorry no – I had exactly the same problem and ended up changing the hub! Mavic and other hub manufacturers have QR converters available but not Spez ones!

Cheers guys – currently running the SS with a short 50mm stem that has a 60 degree angle so my weight is fairly back anyway – I’m 6’4″ and its only a 20″ frame and it fits just right with a semi riser bar.

Concerned about tyre choice as this time of year run Panaracer trialraker 1.95″ due to the XC gloop I ride through – saving the 2.25/2.35 Maxxis’ for trail centre weekends on the geared hardtail – should I just go for a bigger trailraker? ooooo no was that the start of a tyre thread?!?!?!

samuri – i am def not fast, but over a 20 – 25 mile XC ride the average speed between the SS and HD is pretty much the same!!

Before I embark on Project Monstercross anyone got one I could sit on (in the East Mids / East of England) to gauge frame size – I’m 6’4″ and normally ride a 21″ – 26″wheeled ‘normal’ mountain bike. Much appreciated!!

I would definately build one up if you have the parts kicking about .. alot of fun.

Do you realise that a laptop power pack normally comprises of the 18650 batteries?!?! Take an old laptop battery break it up and carefuly seperate the batteries and use your normal charger!

Cheers ds3000 – used to live 30 minutes away from Llandegla so know it quite well! I then moved to East of the UK about 3 years ago and now ride a SS during winter running 38-18 or 38-16. Will be back in Wales in a few weeks and was thinking of having a go on the SS at LLandegla, thanks for the info!

if you take a week off riding and do no physical activity, you need to check if you get any swelling of the ankles. if so then you will need to see a doctor.

sounds like a kidney problem, and you could be retaining fluid which is stopping good blood flow in the legs, its not to be confused with cramp.

?? Sounds serious – do not appear to have any other problems at any other times!
