Thanks that’s really helpful.  I’m near York so a bit far to Portsmouth!  Sounds worth a look at one – there’s a shop in Blackburn which has one, so that’s doable.

Thanks – don’t know how I missed that link!  Looks like they are not actually available now until Jan 25 which may explain why you can’t use the build my car option yet.  Shame if they are only as commercial – seems an odd decision which will put people off buying one – me included!

Sorry I have no direct experience but interested in replies.  If you Google VW Buzz trips to the alps there are some reviews of mtb trips. Sounds like it needs a lot of stops for charging – maybe ok in the rest of Europe but not convinced for the UK.  There have been reviews on here which to my mind don’t give a lot of confidence about the space in the back. I’m a Berlingo owner – I  would love to replace with a Buzz, but not convinced from what I’ve read – especially given it’s going to cost around £60k!

Why no digital version out at the same time?

I’ve got a Tripster AT and went for a size smaller as well – same for my 4S.

Sorry but it’s crap – field edge, very few circular routes without long road connections.  Get a road bike, it’s great for that but forget any good mtb rides!

Paul Engineering Components make excellent ones – think SJS may sell them. I had them on my Salsa Ala Carte – would post pix if it was simple just to add these here!

Simple solution, if you don’t like Rapha don’t buy it. Why all this angst

Yes you do! I’ve got a Grail ON & it’s brilliant and good fun on & off road. Most reviews say the same. I have other non-E bikes, but ignore all the comments about no you don’t, why are you unfit etc.

Try the Lingotto – formerly Fiat, now has shops, art gallery from the Agnelli collection etc, but also the Fiat test track on the roof! Banked on the corners. Well worth a visit. I’d second the Mole as well. Nice for a wander round the arcaded streets near the centre. I think Juve do stadium tours – not been to the new stadium, the old Studio delle Alpi was terrible. You might want to watch Torino instead – Toro are the real choice of the Torinese – Juve a bit like the Man U of old. Have a read of Juve by Herbie Sykes if you can get a copy or his book Balmamion – both good on local football but also the wider culture.

Berlingo (as ever) the way to go. Grip control option for 4×4 pretend. Shed loads of room, cruises well, consumption ok. What’s not to like!

Agree – it’s an astronomical price rise! I had oil stolen last weekend from the tank overnight, so I’d recommend adding some security. I’ve now got a Spinsecure lock & a locking vent cap, plus security camera. It won’t stop theft but at least it might be a deterrent. Oil theft on the increase near me.

Incredibly tedious – 55 mins of him wittering on and 5 mins of actual Ape racing.

Good point about the bars being a deterrent! Hadn’t thought about putting on the end of the drops so thanks

Thanks – on the bars, but this is the odd double decker bar on Canyon’s gravel bike and the bar itself is an oval aero shape

Back to the actual topic…my enquiry to Trek UK had a response that it will be available in the UK at some point. Agree it seems odd to only sell via Trek?

We’ll produce a summary of the results and post a link when we’re done – survey open until end May, so will be a few weeks yet.  Thanks for the points about the responses – we’ve done surveys before as well and have analysed this type of open ended questions through coding – yes it takes more time, but you get a fuller picture than just closed questions.  We’re also interviewing trail centre managers, rangers, trail builders etc so we’re not just relying on the survey.  Pleased through that we’ve got people thinking and helping us!

Again, thanks for all the responses. Sorry if it’s a bit difficult to complete, we did test drive it!  I can’t comment on Sarah Green, before my time…

It’s OK, I wouldn’t say its a must see. Saw it in Hull a while back when it was first in theatres. Fairly short as its all in one act.

Thanks Chainline – I’ll follow that up and get in touch if I need to. I think the choice for women sems to have got worse over the past few years, at least for MTB, road seems a bit easier

That’s right, Fruita is too hot at that time of year – plus there’s not much to do other than the dinosaur museum for family. Better options would be Durango – good riding close to town, ask at Hassle Free Sports for a trail map, and you could use Hermosa Tours for a shuttle to do the Hermosa Creek Trail. Durango would probably keep family entertained as well – put them on the Durango and Silverton railway. Durango also close enough to Mesa Verde National Park for a visit. Alternatively try Crested Butte – bikes and trail guide book from the Alpineer shop in town. You could stay at San Moritz Condos – which would be good for a family – a bit out of town (about 10 mins by car), but there’s a free bus connection and a bike path back. Lots of good riding round there – Snodgrass Trail, 401 Trail etc, plus some routes round Mt Crested Butte itself. You could do both of these and take in other more tourist/family places as well – Telluride etc. You could stop over in Boulder before catching the plane back and spend some money in the bike shops there – try University Bicycles, whihc also does hire if you’re still wanting a ride!
